DON'T BUY A SUNBEAM MAESTRO KE9750 – What an absolute shocker of a kettle. Do not buy one of these pieces of appalling design before you actually try to use one. For a start, it is ridiculously heavy, and the hand design so bad that you need two hands to pick it up safely with just a cup full of water in it. With 1.7L of water in it, it's just too heavy, especially for senior adults… Read more

and anyone not built like a weightlifter. Then, when you go get it up and over to a cup, the spout is: a) so badly angled that you need to tip it a long way over before it pours, b) and then when your hands, trembling with the load and the high amount of twist in your wrist, do get it over a cup, the spout is wide and flat rather than coming to a narrow vee, so the water goes everywhere, first one side of the spout and then the other, generally missing the cup. This is pure design prettiness over actual functionality. It's almost completely useless, except it can boil water. So can a saucepan and this is slightless less functional than that. If you need to boil water, either use a saucepan or buy another make of kettle, but whatever you do, DON'T BUY A SUNBEAM MAESTRO KE9750

Ticks the boxes – Replaces the less-than-impressive, over time, Sunbeam Kyoto Kettle, which only lasted 2 years before developing corrosion on one of business end electrical contacts, and became annoying to use. So far, but after only 24 hours of use, this one ticks… Read more ·  3

all the boxes: Quiet? Yes Boils water? Yes Turns itself off? Yes Shows a light when on? Yes Opens/shuts at top? Yes – one touch Spring-loaded, not soft-touch; unknown which would be more reliable long-term. Doesn’t dribble? Yes – it’s good. Filter if anything a little over-enthusiastic, but it’s a controllable flow that goes into the cup, not across the kitchen bench (as can be found in many, particularly cheap, kettles) * Handle is well-rounded for large hands, joins up at the base (slightly safer than the hooky single point-of-join). * Strip of heat-shield plastic behind handle is good (a metal jug, or decorative chrome, can burn) * lid ‘press’ non-button is a small, thoughtful safety feature.

Recommended? Thus far, yes.

Follow-up  · * How easy is it to clean inside? ** Not too bad, actually, it gets a thorough inside clean every six months or so. * How well does the lid seal when closed? ** It seals okay; it's getting it to open simply by pushing the button that's below standard. It opens easily enough, almost apologetically, with a fingernail poke. * Does it stay cool to… Read more

Good kettle overall, love blue lights – Upd 07.2025> Finally the kettle gave up after ~4.5 years, just didn't turn on today. Quite happy with it overall. >> I bought it slightly more than 2 years back, main factor was aesthetics with blue light coming on when it is heating up. Overall i am happy with it, doesn't get hot from outside - good, pouring may take some time to get used to it… Read more ·  1

as others pointed already, don't see a problem with it. It is still running well, however rust started to appear inside where the bottom is connected to walls, will have to replace it soon.

Not as expected – This item stopped working after 26 months. While the warranty was only for 12 months, I would expect a Sunbeam product to last longer than that. Most disappointing Show details

Awkward Kettle – I bought this kettle end of October 2021 as a spare with points I had from the store. I started to use it when my older Sunbeam gave up the ghost after 14 months. It's an elegant kettle that works well. However from the first start it was difficult to pour. I checked the filter but could not see anything wrong with it. I found out that this… Read more

kettle needs to tilt a lot more than I ever experienced with any other kettles before. The problem with tilting so much we did not have the flow control that we had with any others. After putting up with it for a few weeks (both my wife and I had this problem) I decided to contact Sunbeam Australia (Newell) . They listen to me and offered me a replacement with an email stating their agreement. Today I replaced it wit a Breville Kettle BKE50CLR4JAN1 quite similar in price and physical feature (just under AU$100) . Definitely this kettle is pouring normally and seem to work well too.

Addit (Next day) Since, I read about what others think of it and glad to see I'm not the only one with this annoyance. I thought perhaps I expected too much. However on the + side I did notice (too) that the kettle is always only warm after boiling apparently it has something like a double 'wall' which is a nice idea, but possibly at the expense to add to the weight...

Worst spout of any kettle – The kettle is fine when it comes to boiling water but pouring the water out is the problem. The spout is wide and flat so you can't accurately pour water out. I need to pour the boiled water into a bottle so this makes it very inconvenient. Also, the filter blocks most of the water flow so the water just trickles out. The kettle is such a waste of money considering that something much cheaper wouldn't have such an obvious flaw. Show details

Broken Lid After Two Weeks – I purchased this recently to replace a similar looking kettle of another brand, so my expectations were based on that. This is an attractive looking kettle that blends in well with a modern kitchen. The glass walls allow you to easily see the water level and the swivel base means makes it simple to use. A large lever at the back of the kettle… Read more

controls the power and is easier to use than a rocker switch. When the power is on, the kettle is lit with a blue light which looks good and also leaves you with no doubt that it is turned on.

While the double walled design definitely makes the glass cooler to touch, it may have some insulating benefits too. Re-boiling the kettle after a short while seems to be quicker although that is not something I have measured.

I am less impressed when pouring water from the kettle. The curved sides of the kettle mean that you have to tilt the kettle over further than expected and the flow of water does not start and stop as quickly as you would want - a bit of a dribble at the end of each pour. This is something that you may get used to over time but so far it has been really annoying.

One other thing worth mentioning is the lid. The push button to open it is conveniently located on the handle and easy to press. However the lid doesn't always open and shut cleanly - it is like the mechanism has a partial open setting that works intermittently. I don't see the point and have some concern how this will work in the long term.

It boils water quickly, is a little loud but looks good.

UPDATE: Less than two weeks after buying this kettle, the lid refuses to open. I see that I am not the first to report this problem so am dropping a couple of stars because it doesn't seem to be a isolated case.

Sleek and stylish – I like the sleek and stylish look of this kettle. The black metal part seems sturdy and easy to clean. The kettle lights up with a blue light when boiling. It operates quickly and is quietly in comparison to my previous kettle. The pouring spout seems fairly wide and has taken me a few pours to master not pour water out everywhere.  Show details

Disappointed – I've had these glass kettles for a long time but this one was just not quite right. This kettle is perfect in that it does have a fast quiet boiling. It's attractive with the blue light which is mesmerising. It's not heavy to hold when pouring. I love these clear glass kettles due to they are easier to fill and be able to see the markings… Read more

of the level of water you want. This kettle is double walled. My only disappointment in this kettle was the pouring lip. It dribbled out a bit before it actually pours out. When you have reached your level of pouring out the water into your cup, it dribbles out as you pull the kettle away. The lip pouring spout on this kettle is just a little wide which causes the problem. I tried many ways to see how to combat the problem but it was the just the same. For this reason only, I returned the product due to it's unusual pouring performance. I have been using the glass kettles with the blue light for a long time now and this is the only kettle that didn't work properly.

Well made, double walled, fast and attractive – Bought on a recommendation of Choice as the best clear kettle. Well, it is fast, looks and feels really well built and looks attractive in the kitchen, including while heating with its blue light and is quiet. Being clear it is easy to see how much water there is in it with calibration marks to help gauge. Being dual walled means the outside… Read more

stays cool. It is easy to open and clean if necessary.

Taking one star off for being heavy and with strange pouring characteristic that will take a little time to get used to. That said, it is the best kettle I have owned.

Expected much better – Such a shame everything is thrown together in China these days, let's start with construction, it's dual wall yes, inner wall is glass, outer wall is plastic, a comma would be nice in the advertising, the lid doesn't seal properly, so when you try to pour water it comes out of the lid because there is a filter in the spout that restricts more than… Read more

filters, (remove waste of time filter solves problem). Very heavy if filled more than half way but apart from these issues, it boils water reasonably quick and not too noisy. I'll try and put up with it but don't like my chances, I wonder if the designers have one in their kitchen........poor effort Sunbeam.
