Sunline FC Rock
4 reviews
I would not usually write a review but people need to know. Not happy!!! – I have been a fc Rock user for as long as I can remember. I bought the so called new improved leader in both 6lb and 8lb last week. This has to be the worst leader. I lost three quality bream with my favourite expensive lures to leader breaks. The old stuff was soo good. The new stuff is rubbish. It twists, kinks and obviously breaks. I can’t remember the last time I lost a bream to leader failure. Loosing three fish in three days is no coincidence. One unhappy customer. Looking elsewhere !!! Not happy
Purchased in for $35.
Rock by name and nature – This has got to be the worst leader line in history.....Impossible to get a fg knot to lock up on it. I'm going back to black magic and giving this rubbish the flick.
Purchased in for $19.95.
Sunline for ever – I have used Sunline FC rock for years as well as other Sunline products and for me they are the best. It is worth noting that at one stage they did have an issue with their FC rock product but that problem is long gone and I have caught everything up 96cm snapper on soft plastics with the stuff. I start snapper on plastics with Vanish but that stuff is rubbish. I tested various types such as Nitlon but Sunline is my first choice. In Moreton Bay I typically only use about 10lb leader so I really work it hard. You name it FC Rock, Basic FC or Sniper FC they are all excellent.
Not what I was expecting – I have been a AVID fan of Berkley Vanish line used as leader - so much so that I have used it for the last 4 years without as much as one issue at all, I mean have caught Bream, Tailor, Trevally, Flathead, Whiting and most other piscitorial species in the broadwater. Since I purchased the FC Rock under a discount I said why not, I bought both the 4lb and the 8lb to be used as leader as I wanted to try what everyone else was on about - this was the magic bullet in leader from what I have been reading.
I have used this for the last few weeks and its been quiet uneventful with only small flathead being caught and these on larger bibless minnows, I found that some of the smaller 20cm flathead would really tear up the leader quiet bad so much so that I would have to cut it back after every fish caught - this unlike Vanish?
Since going fishing on the 4th June, I made my first cast and had my Kangoku vibe snaffled by a larger 50cm + flathead, this flattie had the lure in its mouth and it did take me for a ride around with my 2lb main line and my 1-3kg XTR rod / Stradic 1000FJ, but this Flattie was much smaller than the one I first caught on this rod. I thought it was easy to control but as I caught it from a bridge I had to scurry down the edge to the waters edge to land the fish.
Fish was on the waters edge and I lightly pulled the leader to make it tight and it let go 'pop' and I tried in vein to usher the flathead up to dry sand but feared getting hit by the spines...
Since catching a decent fish on the Sunline FC Rock and having the leader pop as such it has really made me realise what a waste converting to other brands has been, if it aint broke dont fix it!
Shouldnt have made the change and would have the fish in a picture and the $25 lure back - now the fish is most likely dead or dieing and I am out of pocket... Good marketing, lots of fanboys online preaching how good this stuff is... 4lb broke far quicker than the Vanish 4lb I have on comparable fish. Not as abrasion resistant to lesser quality brands.
