Suzuki GSX750F Questions & Answers
VerifiedWhy is my bike getting power to coils but no spark
Hi everyone I’m new on here so I’m hoping for some of your more knowledgeable members to help me here. I bought a 92 gsx750fm last month and it ran beautifully down the motorway for over 30 miles back home, but I took it out the next day and after over taking someone and dropping it two gears, then seconds later the back wheel locked up while I was luckily only doing 20mph and I pulled over and when I started the engine I could hear loud clonking behind the sprocket from the gearbox and it was almost like it was trying to select a gear on it’s own but something was making it lock up and stall . Anyway being a car mechanic for almost 35 years and had replaced the engine in my 650 bandit last year I decided to drop the lump out and turned it upside down and split the crankcase..it turned out that 6th gear had smashed a good sized chunk out of the teeth and seems to be missing about 6 teeth and there’s some lesser damage to the small gear it meshes with on the input shaft.( I’m guessing it’s the 6th gear as it’s the largest gear on the output shaft furthest from the clutch end)I’m currently splitting the crankcase on my 650 bandit engine to hopefully lift out the two shafts and simply drop them in seeing as they share the same engine,I am aware some internals are different but my friend who works mostly on bandits told me it should be fine but earlier today halfway through splitting the crankcase I noticed the end of the shaft for the clutch etc looks slightly different than the gsx and I looked online and I read several answers on this saying they are completely different types of box and one being a constant mesh and I think the other synchro mesh. Is it true they won’t fit the gsx from the bandit, and if so is it possible to remove the damaged gears from the gsx and replace them from the bandit and fitted to the gsx original shaft? I’m guessing if none of this works my options are to fit the whole bottom end from the bandit or buy the individual gears online etc. my main concern is the time without transport now being even longer as I thought I would be ready to lift the lump back in a couple of days and I would have to wait another month when I’m paid again if I have to spend more money. Sorry for the long question but I wanted to give all the information
What fuel should I be running in my 2005 gsxf 750 premium or unleaded
As a 2005 it should be the air/oil cooled motor I assume. 91 octane is fine. There is no benefit to using premium - despite the marketing hype. My teapot has been happy on 91 for 20,000 kms
Thank you
Does anyone know the bolt size for the headers on '03 gsx750f? I can find the part number online but nowhere states the bolt thread size (M6,M8 etc) Oem part number is 0713008257 if that helps.
What is the biggest size of rear tyre I can put on my 1999 gsxf 600, it has a 150/70/17, would like to change to a 160?
I run a 170/60 on the rear of my 750, garage had no issues with fitting.
What is the difference between a Katana750 and a GSXF750?
The Katana is the American version of the GSX750F from 1989 onwards. It was named Katana in the US and not in other markets. The bikes are the same.
Dose anybody know if the wiring harness from a 05 GSX750F is the same from the 06 the reason why I am asking is it keep going through brake lights switches like hot cakes I have soldered all earth cables together and looking at some photo on Google there seems to be some parts missing i have also priced one up but it's a weeks wage
I would try separate the brake wiring and put it on a multimeter when the brakes are applied to see where the fault is.
I found the problem to brake lights switch where the male and female contacts click together the earth wire has been pushed out. I don't know what it is about earthleads for the GSXF but check them regularly i have soldered most of mine together.
Will a gsx750 exhaurst fit the 650f.
Maybe... but I would doubt it due to being a bigger frame. You Tube may know. Failing that phone a dealership they should have specs for you. Good luck and Safe Travels.
I have a 1989 GSX 750 f slingshot I want to change exhaust will gsxr 750 headers fit mine Cheers
Are you asking if the same year but gsxr will fit your gsxf? Most likely. From what I understand of my gsxf this the same motor as a gsxr but different cam setup and geared out for touring. Have a squizz at YouTube loads of info on there now.
My 2003 GSX 750f when I trun the key ignition lights come on and the clock and fuel gauge god off and bike will not turn over even head light his off I need help?

i have a 2006 gsx 750f. my question is what is the main difference between the 750f and the 750r, engine?? and or other, answers much appreciated thanks,Dave
The GSX750R is more highly tuned and loves revs. It lacks the same low down torque of the "F". That said when the "F" hits six grand it screams up to the 12,500 redline real quick. In forth gear the "F" goes from 80km/hr to 140km/hr in a few seconds. Also the "R" is a bit lighter, has better suspension and has a more agressive seating position. It is not as comfortable on a long ride. The engines are very similar. Just that Suzuki realised that there was a market for a "Sports tourer" GSX750R so they introduced the "F" in 1989. In my view the "F" is a more balanced choice as it commutes well, tours well and keeps up with most crotch rockets around bends. The "Gixxer" appeals more to the boy (Or girl) racers. As an old fart I prefer the wolf in sheep's clothing.
first time with productreview, thank you very much for the answer to my question,I'm an old bloke myself and love the bike bit heavy but rides great, now I know the diff of the R and my F, thanks again, top site this
My understanding of the difference is that the GSX F has a different cam system and is geared out for touring, plus it has a centre stand. My bike is now 20 years old but i have looked after it and people cannot believe it is that old. I think mine is worth about $3k-$3.5k but for me that is value if you compare it to how much other bikes drop in value. As far as comparing it to other bikes Suzuki make the best gearboxes, it might be down on power but it is still a 750 and will crank it when needed. If you want to get thru the drive through @ Hungry Jerks quicker maybe buy the GSX R.
Will a gsx 750 2005 engine fit a 1995 model?
?????
I have gsxf 750 99.. is it normal for it that after a run the engine rattles a bit?
my gsx 750f 1992,the engine is turning over but not firing, could this be the signal generator(coils/petrol ok)

Hi guys my name is Todd, I own a 2005 model GSX 750F. I started it the other day had no issues starting then I turned the bike off as I needed my keys to go back inside. As I went to start it again the instrument panel lights came on but then quickly shut down. I havnt been able to start it since and still have no ignition lights. ive checked all the fuses what else could the problem be? cheers guys.
Check your battery. Mine did the same thing. Lights when crazy and nothing. Battery dead that quick. Hope this helps. G Davis
I dont understand how someone can ride and like a a nice bike an then drop it and smash it in to peaces
Quite easy. The GSX750F could probably be called a nice bike, however, the bikes sweet engine and reliability are equally offset by the bikes weight and poor handling. The GSXF feels long and heavy, that's the problem. It's confused - is it a sports bike or is it a tourer? The weight on your wrists says sports bike, but the seat says tourer.
I am looking at buying a Suzuki GSX 750F 2006 model. Can anyone tell what problems there are with them such as handling and engine reliability.I use to ride Harley's but have decided to ride a different style of motor bike.
The GSX750F has a beautiful motor, but is let down by having a huge mass of bodywork surround it, and poor suspension to deal with its some 260KG of lard. In saying that the bike should feel sweet after coming off a Harley. The GSX750F was air cooled, using a toned down motor from the early 90’s GSXR750.
My opinion, look at the replacement – the GSX650F. Motor is liquid cooled I believe, and has nicer styling and is a physically smaller and slightly lighter (about 40kg).
I have a 2006 (20ks) and found it needed a suspension upgrade to make it handle. Original springs in front are too soft if one is over 95-100 kgs. Engine is strong, reliable and delivers when caned a bit. Still see it as a tourer but caters for the inner sport rider if inclined.
Michelin Power 3s are working well.
