I bought a TCL 85 inch (C845 so top-end of the line with 3-year warranty) from JBHifi and within 5 months the display was broken, with lines of broken pixels through the display. After dealing with their horrendous customer service, that TV was replaced and the replacement lasted for around 10-11 months before developing black lines from top to… Read more
bottom through the whole screen. Quality control seems to be non-existent. I think TCL spends its' money on YouTube influencers who claim these are great value but have no experience of whether they will last.
The Australian customer service is either highly incompetent or trained to frustrate the customer so much that they will go away. English language skills are poor and they don't listen to what is being asked of them. I asked them to email me rather than calling me during the day when I'm working and they continue calling my phone and leaving messages asking me to call their phone line. On the one occasion that I did call their number, I spent 20 minutes on hold, only to be told that the department who could help me had left for the day. They use terms like 'valued customer' and 'please be assured' but these mean nothing.
When I contacted them at first to replace the replacement TV, I knew the drill so sent them the product number and a photo of the serial number. You would think that would be recorded against the case file but nearly a month later I receive a voice message asking what the model number is. I send this to them again via email. Then I receive another voice message asking me what the serial number is. Extremely frustrating and either incompetent or deliberately obstructive.
Throughout the 'customer service' process, while you're waiting for them to get back to you, you'll receive text messages asking if the case has been resolved and if not, to call their helpdesk (and stay on hold for ages). Unbelievably frustrating.
Meanwhile, I have another large TV I bought from an established Korean brand that has just worked perfectly from day one with no problems. These TCL TV's are built big and bright to sell cheap and they don't last. I recommend you buy a TV from a reliable brand rather than these. I'll probably buy a number of TV's in my life but I will NEVER spend another cent on a TCL product.
TCL smart tv reset – TV wouldn’t bring up smart tv functions when setting up but TCL telephone support was quick to connect when called and solved the problem within a couple of minutes (thanks Neil)
Perfect result. Probably better than expected – The TV developed a black shadow on the left of the screen five weeks out of warranty. A replacement TV is on it’s way without any drama at all. Great company to deal with. CHARISSE explained everything in detail.
Bad customer service, internet connection issues – I think the picture quality of this TV is quite good, although there is some major blooming particular on black. I have now had my TV for around 5 weeks I'm currently using it with my Google Chromecast as it is unable to connect to the internet through wifi or lan. The TV has been unavailable to connect to wifi or lan after 1 week of purchase. I… Read more
contacted TCL and they ran through some fixes but nothing worked, around a week went by and TCL contacted me again only to go through the same trouble shooting. They then contacted me to say they would have someone come out to repair the TV. Around a week later they said they would be replacing the TV. Around another week later they have said the would repair the TV. I have now heard nothing. I should not have to have a TV repaired that failed almost straight away. I should not have to wait so long for it to be fixed or replaced. I just wanted the product I purchased so then maybe I can do a better review. Customer service is absolutely appalling.
Good TV – Very good picture, excellent audio. Google TV is very useful. Love it. Mini LED is wonderful. A huge discount for TCL C845 75" from the good guys, was $2200, now $1598, this is the best price until now. Show details
Very Disappointed !!! – This one is actually a 50” , not sure why it is not in the options? The viewing and operation of this tv and remote is extremely annoying for a $1000 TV. Not any numbers on the Remote is ridiculous. It will not let me see the guide for free view channels. I am forced to watch Freeview through the catch up APPS. The picture is very disappointing,… Read more
faded and blurry. I have replaced it with a $400 Akai tv and what a relief. A logical remote and an improved picture. As a pensioner I cannot afford to buy high end tv. However I was badly misled with the rave technical reviews. Did I really get a genuine TCL??? Purchased January 2024 from Appliance Central with PayPal. I would really like to return this and receive a total refund.
Great tv except when tv is switched off the bright lcd light is totally annoying – Picture great, easy to operate very satisfied Except for the lcd light being on when switched off Very annoying because the tv is in the bed room Show details
Defective on unboxing – Defective on unboxing55C845 TV defective when first powered on, screen was black with white patches. defective TV for a brand new one at our cost" into it's not our fault contact the retailer and our compliance team will contact you over the next 48 hours via email outlining next steps.... Pathetic TCL AUSTRALIA, shame on you, will be contacting consumer commission.
Best Mid-Range TV With Everything – I was set on buying an OLED around Christmas time, but just couldn't justify the high prices. I ended up buying the C845 75" instead and TCL have been punching well above their weight class with their higher end lineup these past few years. Black levels are deep and inky for a non-OLED, brightness can reach extremely high nit levels which will… Read more
look great in a bright living room and it supports all of your HDR/Dolby Vision modes. Also if you're a gamer, the first two HDMI ports support 4k@120hz with added support for VRR/ALM.
It's a TV with Full Array Local Dimming, so a small shortcoming to the technology is an effect called "blooming". Whenever a white object appears in front of a black background, a small glow can be seen around the object. From my personal experience with watching a wide range of content, I only noticed this effect in the most extreme of cases or when viewing way off angle. Otherwise, I found it to be a non-issue and the local dimming makes the black bars on the top/bottom of the screen during movie time truly black instead of a milky grey that you'd find on regular LCD screen. It truly is the best technology out there for very high levels of contrast without going all in on OLED.
If you want a TV that ticks all the right boxes without busting the bank with an OLED, this really is a TV to consider. Make sure to purchase it during a sale, they often drop in price by $500-$1000 depending on the size which is honestly a steal.
Beautiful looking and sounding Tv – Very Impressed with sound & Picture quality. Installed in a bright living room and still colors are very deep Show details · 2
A good TV spoilt by Google – I did a basic TV set up, which was excellent. I then did a Google TV setup, which required me to log in to my Google account, all good so far, except my wife did not like the new format that the Google TV set up presented, so I decided to log out of my Google TV account and return to the basic TV set up. But no, it doesn't work like that, Google… Read more
now makes the rules, so as I now attempt to leave the Google TV set up (sign out) I am told that this will invoke a factory reset, meaning that all of my settings and added apps will be lost. So if you can't think of anything special that Google can offer you on your TV (that you can already get on your other devices), stick with the basic set up. It is much more rewarding and less complicated. And speaking of basics, it is a great set, we upgraded from a 55" LG with a fading screen and the differences between them are too many to list, great picture, heaps of inputs and a great 3-year factory warranty.
Big, bold and highly functional – Loving my TCL C845 75 inch TV, I got this on its introductory price earlier this year for a steal and hove zero regrets (other than the fact that I thought it was too big for my lounge room). Mini-Led (looks amazing both physically and screen quality, Google TV, decent remote - voice control, good price, 3 Years warranty - I have two other Google TCLs in my house and both are good, except for some minor wi-fi drops occasionally) Show details

Fantastic TV, with some quirks – This TV has quite a good display and system-on-chip, but it seems to be let down in a few ways. * The Google TV implementation is okay, but the TV has a habit of losing internet after a few days when connected to WiFi, requiring either a reboot or reconnecting to WiFi. UPDATE: This doesn't seem to be an issue anymore and resolved quite some time… Read more

* HDR is hit and miss - that's not to say it looks terrible because it doesn't, you do need to tune SDR, HDR10 and Dolby Vision content yourself out of the box for best results. I believe the HDR tuning on this TV is pretty bad from the factory, with TCL not really putting much effort into calibrating HDR10 or Dolby Vision. UPDATE: It's much better than it was when I first reviewed it. It still isn't perfect, but certainly happy with the picture
* As a result of the relatively poor HDR/MiniLED tuning, dark areas can get crushed and compensating for it by changing settings tends to ruin the contrast. UPDATE: Still true.
* TCL have promised to fix the HDR/MicroLED tuning via software updates. The TV's issues can absolutely be fixed this way. TCL historically has a habit of not following through with promises, instead opting to bring out 1-2 new TV generations with the same problems and ironing it out in the 3rd year while never fixing it for the older models. UPDATE: I can say that they did fix quite a lot of issues since this review.
The screen is blurry – Got it today and I'm so disappointed. The screen is blurry AF. There is distortion around all writing on the screen. Faces look like they're melting. It is so bad. I'm so disappointed. What a waste of money. Show details

Great tv – Update had this tv over 12 months now and still love it! Purchased 4 months ago and have been very happy. Great picture, great motion, great sound. Rather simple operating system and easy to use remote with quick click buttons for Netflix, Disney, Stan, prime and YouTube. Show details
Nothing special – I have had this TV for about 2 weeks, it's ok, nothing special. Picture settings keep changing on their own, most annoying and Kayo is very jittery/disjointed - I have to use my own Chromecast to get a smooth uninterrupted view. I would have been just as happy with a cheaper TV say a Hisense, LG or Samsung (couldn't afford a Sony - should have… Read more
hang out until I could have) I bought this Tv based on reviews, reviews are not always all they are made out to be, even tech ones. IMO most reasonable branded TV's would give the average person like me, just as good an experience, at a lesser cost.
Don’t Buy – Purchased this TV approx 1 month ago, and have had nothing but trouble with it. The wi-fi keeps disconnecting, and then the TV just won’t connect to the wi-fi leaving us not being able to watch anything. I have contacted TCL Support, and so far they have been terrible to deal with - they keep trying to blame my ISP, even though I have two Samsung… Read more
TV’s with no connectivity issues. I have asked for a replacement and they just keep trying to blame something else. I don’t recommend this product and strongly urge that you don’t buy this TV. TCL’s service has been terrible. Don’t put yourself through this.
