Black Avanti 2 Slice Toaster – Well its 3/04/25 & the toaster is still going strong. I have a black Avanti 2 slice toaster which we purchased approximately 20yrs ago and is still going strong. It is used every day with no problems. Very easy to maintain. I'm not sure if you can still purchase this toaster but if you can I highly recommend it. Show details ·  2

20+ years old and still going!! (Fingers crossed!) – We bought our toaster in 1998 after buying the same white Avanti model for a friends wedding gift. Included with the toaster was a competition to win a set of saucepans which we entered us and them into prior to the wedding. Some months later we won a set of Tefal saucepans and our friends told us how amused they were to receive a mystery box of… Read more

Tefal saucepans also. We still have a large chefs frypan from the set and our much loved and used toaster that hasn't missed a beat in all these years. No wonder it’s discontinued if it lasts so long!! Early 2024…alas the Tefal toaster had to go as it no longer went off after toasting. But what an awesome toaster it was.

Faulty – Great design, but was a bit slow and didnt toast the sides evenly. Considering we don't use the toaster religiously we just put up with it. Unfortunately, today the toaster tripped the safety switch and it's dead. Bought it at good guys July 2017 for $129.00 Think I'll get a cheaper toaster. Our previous $30.00 toaster lasted 8 years and was replaced not because fault but because we wanted something pretty. Lesson learnt.

Sometimes you don't get what you pay for - or fancy schmancy is not always better – I am an a bit of a nutcase when it comes to buying pretty much anything. I will research everything I can find about the item I am purchasing so I can make an informed decision. Cool...my Australian made 2 slice Ronson toaster that was 20+ years old finally died and I found myself in the market for a new toaster. Read some reviews and plenty of… Read more

glowing reports about the Tefal range. High end..all the features wanted and it looks pretty stylish in full stainless steel. When I mention to the salesman in the shop about getting 20+ years out of my toaster he laughs and says todays generation of toasters will never see that....I am a little apprehensive at this.

The good lady wife balks when I tell her it's a $90 toaster when a Sunbeam one can be had for half the price. I convince her that the extra money will be worth it...it's a quality premium brand that will last longer than a generic Sunbeam of Breville....so we buy the Tefal.

Initially very happy with it. It does what a toaster is supposed to do...it toasts bread evenly on both side and reasonably consistent - let's face facts here, its not rocket surgery....its a toaster...

The model I purchased had a crumpet feature which is one my family utilize and one that my old Ronson toaster did very well. This model drops most of the power to the outside elements and keeps the inside ones powered up, so you get a brown top without the bottom of the crumpet being over-done. Well that's the theory...in practice it can take 3 to 4 cycles to get something that you think "that will have to do, I don't have all day to cook 2 crumpets..." So the crumpet function does not work very well at all...and this is out of the box like this... PROBLEM 1.

After a year or so it needs a second go to get the level of browning right and I find myself peering into the toaster to pop it manually before it burns the toast. Frustrating when it should be a pop-it-down-it-pops-up-and-its-done-kind-of-process... PROBLEM 2

About six months later the entire right side of the toaster stops working and will not stay down when you try and pop it down. So the 4 slice toaster is now a 2 slice toaster...Son of a motherless goat herder!!! PROBLEM 3

The final straw is that now the left side can take 3 cycles before it looks brown...D'oH!!! PROBLEM 4 Enough!!!

This Tefal toaster would not be three years old and it is done, so my experiment with a fancy schmancy PREMIUM brand of Toaster is over - I will be replacing it with a Sunbeam or Breville and live with the utilitarian look of the less stylish product.

I know that this is a sweeping generalization....BUT....It is just a pity that appliances are not made to last the way they used to be. I am furious that the manufacturers treat customers with such contempt and think that replacing an appliance every 2-3 years is acceptable. I am on my 4th Microwave in 12 years but that's a story for another review...

In mourning for the Tefal Avanti 2 slice toaster – Our Tefal Avanti toaster died. It was such an excellent toaster we are in mourning. It is still currently available overseas but not in Australia and NZ -- should we start a FB campaign to bring it back? I can see there are other people also looking to replace it with same model. It was stylish design and would do fat toast or crumpets really well.

This is an excellent product. But it doesn't sell anymore – Since, I had this Toaster was like great start in the morning. This is very reliable unit and all of my family was satisfied. We had it almost 10 - 12 years, but unfortunately Tefal doesn't make them anymore. If this product come back again, I will be the first buyer on the queue...  Show reply

Happy Customer – My lovely Tefal Avanti lasted 8 years. I could not ask for a better product in the kitchen. It did not die as such it kept shorting the fuse when switched on with any other product and then it shorted when plugged in alone.. sorry to see you go.

OK – Fairly pricey for the basic toaster that you get which would have been fine except that it doesn't toast evenly. I think I'll keep hunting for that perfect toaster *sigh*. Nice look. Fair build quality. Wide slots. Hi lift nice feature, saves your fingers. Doesn't cook toast evenly. Darkness dial feels very loose/cheap.

Excellent – I like this toaster for its simple yet stylish design. After almost daily use for 2.5 years it is still going strong. I recommend it. A stylish, fast toaster with an easy to adjust, variable setting. Extra wide slots useful for fat slices of bread. Like the frozen bread setting - so simple with just a click of a button. Like the re-heat function… Read more

for when you want to re-warm your toast without burning it. The crumb collector could be better. A lot of crumbs 'leak' out through the bottom which is annoying when you're cleaning underneath it - as you lift the toaster, a whole lot of crumbs fall out, so you clean some more, then place it back down and more crumbs fall out... and so on.

Excellent – A bit of logical thinking has gone into the design of this toaster. You can actually see what's going on. The slots are wide enough for crumpets and Easter buns. It's fast too! It has cooked my toast by the time the jug has boiled for a cup of coffee. The previous toaster was as slow as a wet week. I finally threw it in the bin, even though it… Read more

still worked. The high lift function is very handy when getting out short items like buns. Unfortunately the kob came off the first time I used it. I could have taken it back, but just glued it back on with some super glue. It's fine now. Should it fail I'll certainly be buying another of these. Very fast.

Can see the toast cooking.

Wide slots for things like buns. One of the knobs fell of on its first use.

Good – We've been very happy with this toaster for the past 8 months. It makes a perfect piece of toast each time, it has cool touch sides so no burns, and he angle the slots are on make it very easy to get the toast out. The eject button is extremely easy to reach and press (some other brands have a small button) and this model has a lift button that… Read more

helps lift the toast up a bit higher to make it even easier to remove your toast. I'm very happy with this item. Sleek design, easy access, cool touch sides, extra lift button. None known.

Excellent – I bought the four slice model last November and have been very happy with it, very easy to clean and nice even toasting. I paid $89.95 on special and I think it has been well worth it. Stylish looking, easy clean crumb trays. None as yet.
