Tefal i-Companion XL Connect FE90C160 Questions & Answers
VerifiedMPN: FE90C160Why does my iCompanion XL show an open lock when I am trying to cut ingredients for cooking
Sometimes you have to kind of bang the bowl harder into the base so that it locks in place. I jay pick it up and push it down hard.
Thank you. I will try that.
Trying to use mine for the first time tonight and could not get it to lock either. After a half hour of frustration I put the meal in a pan on the stove. I've finally found this reply and still couldn't get the bowl down. My daughter came and finally slammed it down hard and got it to lock. I hope it gets better as I don't know if I'm going to be able to bang it down that hard. Seems crazy.

Can I use the i-Companion XL as a plain RICE COOKER? We have a cheap Tefal rice cooker that makes perfect rice effortlessly: just add 2 cups of rice (white or brown) plus water to the 2-cup mark, then switch on to "rice", without any need to set a timer. A while later the rice cooker machine beeps to say that the rice is ready; it then stops cooking and simply keeps the rice warm, and the resultant rice is always perfect! We have just received a Tefal i-Companion and want to know if we can do the same with this new whizz bang device. The booklet has recipes for risotto, but we want just plain rice. I searched on Google but didn't find the answer. Thank you!
If you get the new tefal app, I have it on Android there is a lot of info and instructions there. Also a few other sites on google show how to steam rice in the tefal. I would suggest reach out on Facebook to book a personal zoom training session with a person from Tefal on basic tips and a run down of the functions. I did that and it was just amazing. It's free and so helpful. Just send a message via Facebook for info how to book a session
Hi Andrew! Thanks for reaching out. Yes, it is possible to cook steamed rice in the i-Companion XL. Our consultant has cooked rice in it and there are two ways to doing it: using the steaming basket lined with baking paper or using the Flat base attachment.
If via steaming basket, rinse 1 cup of rice and place in steaming basket lined with baking paper. Add one cup of water to the bowl and then place the steam basket on top. Steam at 100C for about 25mins.
If using just the bowl and the flat base attachment, 1 cup of rice, rinsed plus 1 cup of water and cook at 110-120 for 20mins (making sure to stir the rice halfway through cooking).
And as millview has mentioned above, we do have a free 45-min online owner session that you can book if you would like to know more about the i-Companion XL.
