Extremely Poor Service, Incompetent Staff
The quality of the services and the competency of their staffs at this store, 152 Queen Street Mall, Brisbane City QLD 4000, is beyond unbelievable low.
I bought a mobile broadband from them in January, which also includes the data with the dongle. However, the staff sold me a separate sim card to have data enabled. Product knowledge is bad and incompetent.
After I found out what exactly happened, went back to the store next day. I tried to explain what happened, but this particular didn't agree the original mobile broadband comes with data. ...I had to show him on my mobile what their Telstra webpage writes. He took my contact details and suggested they will contact me next day. As expected they didn't call back. He is rude, incompetent, and has zero idea about the products they sell. After waiting for 2 days, I went back again. After explaining the same thing a few times at the store, was told no one is available to help, whilst you see their staffs roaming around the store doing nothing. Poor customer service and rude. Went back a week after, and finally spoke to the guy who first sold me the services. He had to check the website and gave me the excuse Telstra keeps changing the offer so that's why he is not up to date with the product information. He sounded like as it was my fault. He then had to check with his manager, who took no interested in me as their customer. They finally agreed to refund the money of the unnecessary sim card service, took it off and activated the original one. Guess what, he didn't activate it. By now this is the 4th time I had to visit this store to get a simple service - mobile broadband. Incapable staff and manager.

Once it is set up it just works. I have no Telstra or nbn currently where I live. This little portable modem just always works. I didn’t set it up ( that’s not my strength) but it has just sat on my desk and worked for 3 months now. I took it away and plugged it in in my hotel room and it continued to work.

Telstra 4GX Wi-Fi Plus
First time after a long time for using Telstra's products. Very pleasantly surprised. I am in a black spot with connectivity but am able to gain good reception here with Telstra. The modem also works as soon as plugged in - plus holds it's charge for a minimum of 6 hours (I haven't tried longer but it says it goes to 8 hours from memory)

I was recommended one of these units (Telstra 4GX) because there is no NBN service in my area. On the plus side it works with quite a weak signal (one bar, two if I put it in the roof), and the speed is sufficient for streaming movies. On the negative side, the wifi drops out every ten to thirty minutes. I either wait for it to return or manually reset the unit. I am certain this is not a mobile signal problem as my phone (also Telstra) does not drop-out at the same time. Basically, the unit appears to go to sleep and the wifi signal dies. I have set the unit to wifi sleep mode "always on." Is anyone else enduring this problem?
