Wilful Speed Reduction and Customer Cancellation. Expensive Services and Bad Customer Support – Telstra decided to cancel my service without giving me knowledge about speed changes and customer account disconnection. My speed on 5G was 689 mbs and reduced to 68 mbs. Contacting Telstra is as impossible as winning the lottery and if you are lucky in an hour or more you get someone to speak to who does not have any knowledge whatsoever about… Read more

what you are complaining. The Telstra app is as useless as Telstra is as it will not function if you input a date for disconnection of the service.

So much better than the other Provider – After the debacle with Optus and because I work from home, we had to get a more reliable home wifi. We have been pleasantly surprised with the Telstra 5G wifi. There have been no dropouts, our Foxtel movies we purchase no longer pause waiting for the content to load and the internet is just much faster. The first month is only $1 to see if we want… Read more

to keep it and only $85 per month for 1 terabyte. So far so good and we are pretty happy with our new internet.

Back to the age of dinosaurs? – What can we say, Telstra. How many adjectives are there to describe abysmal service? I switched to 5G for my wireless internet as I was rarely able to exceed 3Mbps on ADSL2- understandable, old copper etc etc. When the consultant came out he recorded download speeds of 100Mbps, it was initially unbelievable. These last few weeks the speeds are… Read more

closer to zero than 3Mbps. In 2023 one would have thought that a major service provider like Telstra would actually do what they say they will- provide a reasonable service. Pointless talking to them, their customer service goobledigook is indigestible and the mindless hoops they tell you to jump thru as they do their "fault" finding is an endless waste of time. What the hell is one supposed to do. As a tax payer I have contributed to the NBN debacle- still they will not connect me to a fibre line, despite the fact I live in Beaconsfield (3807). Suicide or scream, neither will fix that lousy company. What to do?

Shocker, don't waste your time – I switched from Telstra ADSL to Telstra 5G, and regret it. I live in town (Wagga), i have the Telstra Modem, it sits at my window closest to 5G tower, im line of sight from the tower but speed is very slow (<1 Mbps), and often signal drops out completely. Its MUCH worse than ADSL used to be, i used to consistently download at 8 Mbps, with 5G im… Read more

lucky to get 1 Mbps (see attached OOKLA speed test). Im now locked in for 2 years with this terrible service and paying off a super expensive useless Telstra Modem. Very disappointed.

Telstra 5G Trial – In my area (Maryborough QLD) i was ecstatic when Telstra announced their 5G tower was active! so much so I purchased one of these Modems from Ebay as I was not keen on paying it off monthly, I also got a Pre-Paid plan that delivered 5G so as to avoid any bills. I WAS VERY SURPRISED! my Speedtests hit Massive speeds often of over 1gbps. (I do have… Read more

line of sight to my tower at the Hospital) the upload speeds were about 100mbps with a ping always at 19ms which was no different to my FTTN NBN.

the device is 5G MM-WAVE compatible with 4x4MIMO and in laymans terms, remains the FASTEST device i have used yet! for the tech geeks like me it even has a 1GBPS Ethernet port on this device.

To get FULL Telstra speeds you will have to use the Telstra Retail network, Many other providers also service my area using Telstra 5G, with the best being Mate Communicate, reaching top speeds of 312mbps down and 84mbps up, these speed caps (Telstra keeps its wholesale speeds between 250-300mbps on 5G for downloads) are for its wholesale network, or others that piggyback off telstra.

All on all i was happy with full telstra prepaid for a trial with 1gbps speeds, just went way too fast! lasting about 10min :)

Outstanding – I use this a my Home Office work internet connection because NBN could not deliver a reliable service. With up to 5 hours of video conferencing per day the connection stable and fast and I mean FAST, up to 240Mbps fast. I need to reboot the router every 2 weeks or so and it was not cheap, but it is far superior to an NBN coax service. Plus it tax deductable. Show details

Better off using your phones hotspot – It's an expensive piece of garbage. Consistantly gets worse speeds than just using my phone as a hotspot. How much worse? Well, I'm in an area without great coverage. My phones hotspot gets speeds off around 5-7mbps most of the time, the 5g wifi pro in exactly the same place with the same amount of reception gets between 0.5-2mbps. It's useless and I'm in the process of trying to return it. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!! Show details

It is ok, but… – For the price this is a very average piece of kit ($599). It needs to be placed in a window to get a signal. And the range is only sufficient for a small room at best. My mobile phone works just as well as a mobile hotspot and cost half the price. Show details

Great speeds. So glad I waited instead of getting NBN – Having had heard the horror stories about NBN and talking to neighbours about HFC connection in the neighbourhood I decided never to go with NBN and stay with 4g wireless connection. It was a struggle but I managed with my phone data. One day I checked for 5g rollout in my area and could not believe that Telstra was covering my area. The Wifi Pro… Read more

5g is an expensive piece of gear for sure and Telstra's pricing is needless to say amongst the highest in the country. But I decided to take the plunge and I can honestly say I am very very satisfied thus far with the speed. As I write this Okla shows 96.10 mbps download and 57.88 mbps upload. I don't know if these are great speeds but these are the best I have ever experienced in my home. I get 400 gigs for $75 per month. Got the device on a 12 month plan for $39.91. Pricey but well worth the speeds. I don't experience heavy traffic drop outs at this stage either. My only gripe would be with Telstra's initial customer service. In my first two interactions the service officers blatantly lied about the cost charging me $85 per month for 400 gigs. However, my follow-up interactions with two different service officers was simply brilliant. They easily managed to find the problem and resolve it honestly for me. For that I am truly grateful.

Excellent wireless internet modem for anyone who travels within Australia – Purchased from The Good Guys, this wireless modem delivers good reliable internet speeds even in low signal areas. signals are low here, but downloads above 200Mbps and upload around 10Mbps.
