Less than ordinary coverage, even worse customer service – After checking their coverage map, bought this from Telstra at Marrickville Metro so I could work in QLD, where I already knew coverage was poor with Optus in the same location. It worked for a few days but speeds were crap. Ran speed test on Telstra site getting 14.4/3.9 and then 21/4.4. That was the highlight. Couldn't even load the youtube… Read more

page let alone watch a video. After three or four days it stopped working completely - it still had data. Rang Telstra, after an hour long call checking everything they confirmed it wasn't working and I should take it back to store of purchase for a refund, making a note in my file. Got back to Marrickville for them only to tell me they can't check the hotspot on their computer, I had to go home and get my laptop so they could check it. It didn't matter that their techs had already confirmed it was kaput and they should have told me. Way to pass the buck. Pathetic inter-agency systems, hopeless coverage, useless all round. First and last time using Telstra. This, ironically, is their stated purpose: 'We believe it’s people who give purpose to our technology. So we’re committed to staying close to our customers and providing them the best experience. And delivering the best tech. On the best network. Because our purpose is to build a connected future so everyone can thrive.'

Utter rubbish! Don’t buy it! – Seriously the most useless piece of crap I’ve ever purchased. I was a huge Telstra fan, but this piece of expensive plastic is destined for landfill! Poor connections (if it ever connects!), fiddly & repetitive tasks to set up a simple hotspot. Just use your phone data, this is crap. Show details

TOTAL WASTE OF MONEY! – Would only connect to one device. (PC) Phone could not connect & got message 'access point temporarily full'. Constantly bufferring on PC , & stream to TV DID not do it, after many attempts. Conyinually disconnect on PC & have to restart/reset. Show details

Useless, support is the worst I have experienced in a while – Bought the device. They set up my login. Said all good to go. Then got home and set it up. The device is supposed to tell me how much data we have used. I need to see this so we don’t run out suddenly. It didn’t. I tried to find out with the online management they set up. You have to get the app. The app would not work after many and repeated… Read more

attempts. I had been trying and trying to get support but their support kept sending me back to their app. Their app wouldn’t link my account to my name and I couldn’t get into it. I have rarely seen anything this stupid ever. The support couldn’t help me. They sent me to a phone service that sent me back to the app. Terrible waste of time and huge stress and annoyance. Seriously Telstra get your act together. And for goodness sake do not close your shops. The only out of this annoying circular situation was going in to the shop, which was a silly inconvenience, where after a lot of messing around the staff were able to sort out this mess. They are the only thing standing between you and you looking like you are both incompetent and uncaring.

Works too well – It works. We get good speeds however we use a lot of data very quickly compared to using our old ADSL2 connection. We have 70 gig per month and we use most of it in just over a week. On the ADSL we never used up the whole 70 gig ever and that was with more people connected. I suspect the device is pinging the towers constantly and that is all… Read more

counted as data use even if there are no devices connected. Contacting Telstra hasn't helped so far. The device also shuts down periodically. The battery runs low even though it is plugged in. I wonder if this is to prevent over charging. It happens about twice a week.

Useless..and so is Telstra `support` – Spent hours upon hours with Telstra `support` trying to get this hotspot to connect annoying faster than 1-2 mbps...totally useless...not fit for purpose ..and trying to get to the bottom of it with Telstra was just painful..in the end they gave up and refunded me.

Didnt get what i paid for – I recently purchased and activated the Telstra Prepaid 4GX Hotspot from a store and it was advertised as coming with 20GB bonus data. However, I did not receive the data on activation. I have checked your website and it is still advertising the 20GB data on this device (https://www.telstra.com.au/internet/mobile-broadband/prepaid)
