Dirt Laundry Detergent Original

detergent). They suggested I send in some gym clothes to be looked at by their chemist (for which they offered to reimburse me) but I wasn’t confident it would help me at all, so I declined. I was offered the opportunity to send what remained of the bulk pack at my cost. I opted to use it on lightly soiled clothes instead. Dirt did offer a sample of their stronger scented wash for heavily soiled clothes but my son has eczema and I didn’t want him to have irritation. I’ve since found a different eco friendly, low fragrance option that is working as perfectly as Dirt did for me before they changed their formula. I am still using the Dirt delicate wash and will probably continue to, but I won’t be sinking my money on their original wash again.

Edit: the Dirt Company business owner reached out to me after this review and offered a much better explanation for what I was experiencing following the formula change. I really appreciate the follow up response and will re-assess after I try their advanced wash.

Then I decided to really put it to the test with my tradie partners work clothes and the kids stinky school uniforms. They came out clean and smelling fresh.

Beautiful bottle, easy to use, no mess with the pump bottle (unlike other liquids that make a mess when pouring), and fresh smelling clean clothes! I will be purchasing more :)

Original review (old formula) I really wanted to like this, but it just doesn’t remove odour from clothing. For a family with young children and a partner who works as a tradie, this product doesn’t make the cut. It was okay for my clothes which are minimally soiled though.

Initially I was reluctant to try as I've previously tried an alternative eco brand which didn't clean any stains off clothes and I'd read there was no smell to this detergent. I LOVE smelly detergents, or so I thought. I was also hesitant because I was also seeking a fabric softener because I've tried to do laundry without it before and the clothes were stiff and hard, and when I've used vinegar, it voided the warranty on our previous machine.

Anyway, long story short. I'm a sucker for pretty things and the glass bottle won me over. I mentally pictured my future laundry room looking minimal with a trendy glass bottle on the shelf next to a wicker (empty) laundry basket and a small pile of clean white, neatly folded sheets, a small plant. This brand fit my aesthetic, so who cares if it works hey?

However, I'm blown away. Not only does it work (!!!!), the smell can only be described as 'clean'. I love it! Think clean and crisp hotel bed sheets. No distinct smell, just clean. Our baby is baby lead weaning and too independent for her own good, so this has meant her clothes have been covered in an array of different stains, all of which have been easily removed. Teenage boy covered in grease and dirt, clothes come up clean. Teenage girl getting makeup and crafting stains on her clothes and bed sheets, they come up looking new. Not only that, I've not used any fabric softener and our clothes feel just as soft. I'm a convert. I'll be buying this forever. And it's a bonus that it's also environmentally friendly. Thumbs up! Oh and cheap!

Good products, money worth – We use the Dirt Laundry Advanced (not original), and we love it. The clothes were washed well and the laundry fragrance lingered long after washing. I often try and buy those heavy promoting products on Instagrams and this is the one that i have no regrets and keep ordering more after finishing. Show details

Disappointed – Took awhile to work out the smell on my sons clothes, has gone through walk in robe. Mine are fine. Washed in separate loads, line dried and aired the same way. Never had this problem before with other detergents. His clothes are everyday casual. The detergent cleans them well. Been using for quite awhile now and wonder if it is a build up! Not a great clean – Im not happy with this detergent it just doesnt work as well as chemicals, I wish it did but really Im back to the main brands as I dont think any enviromentally friendly products actually work. Doesn’t get clothes clean – The packaging is nice, and the concept is good, but the clothes didn’t come out clean and didn’t smell fresh after laundering. The company suggests washing at 40 degrees, and soaking before washing to get a good result. I don’t have time for that, and I expect the product to work well on cold water ( better for the fabric and saves money ) .  Show details

Bought the advanced wash and the food stain remover spray. Really wanted to love this product as trying to use gentler formulas but unfortunately our clothes (particularly my children’s clothes) just aren’t coming out of the wash smelling clean and food stains aren’t lifting out of the clothing. I tried a different eco brand and had better results but think I’ll be going back to what we used to use.

This is a review for Dirt Laundry Detergent Advanced. We never used the original so I can't comment on that but I LOVE the advanced formula. Clothes are clean and smell lovely. We are coming over from powder which has clogged and hardened in my washing machine dispenser so I'm really enjoying the liquid formula. Really cost effective too. My first purchase has lasted ages. The best – Easy to order, fast to arrive. Actually is echo friendly packaging and I'm now using bulk pack 210 load second use soft packs in their closed circuit system. Scent is great and cleans clothes very well. It seems to last a long long time- just 4/5 squirts each wash, I am definetely getting the number of loads it says per package. of the product, I've not had any of the same issues I had previously. My clothes smell great and my trust in the brand has been restored. Only deducting 1 star because I'm not 100% sure of future efficacy with the product until I purchase another batch, but really hoping it will be fine.

Used for a few years – I have used dirt for a few years now, can I say the switch to glass bottles was a clever move ! So much better. I tried a different wash recently and let me tell you its not the same, i went to use it as a stain remover as i have with dirt and it took the colour our ruining the garment. Perfect, didn't think I would find such a great performing product that ticked so many boxes and stil so economical – Wash all household items from underwear to towels, sheets and pet items. So happy with our switch – We love the handy dispenser which takes up very little space in our washroom. The detergent is used for our babies clothes, cloth nappies, our clothes and my husbands filthy tradie uniforms and suits everything. Impressive cleaning – I did not expect to get such good results, washes really well, clothes come out clean. I tried using the stain removal unsuccessfully. Will try again following the instructions to a T. All in all I am very happy using this product.
