My new (2nd hand...) truck came with this Travel Buddy already installed. As per advice from Travel Buddy themselves (aka Darren), they strongly suggest to hard wire the unit in place due to anomalies and variations in quality of cig lighter sockets on various cars. So luckily in my case, the unit is hard wired into the fuse panel (20A), and it works perfectly. I do mention the ciggie lighter recommendation because I can see that this could definitely be a problem with its 10amp draw. I actually had a minor problem where the power indicator LED stopped working. I contacted the Travel Buddy guys and they had a little kit available to get this fixed, inclusive of extra insulation to try and keep the LED a bit cooler to increase its lifespan. So the LED's back up and working. Great product, great after sales support (Darren's a great bloke) and very proud to be the owner of something made in Australia - sadly getting harder to find.

Aussie built with Aussie Customer Service – I think my title says it all, My 12v Marine Travel Buddy has been going strong for nearly 3 hard years of almost weekly usage. However nothing lasts forever with that kind of usage, anyway the wiring shorted inside the TB. What caused this is unknown (it may have been a vibration issue causing the terminal to loosen), I am not sure, but anyway the TB started smoking and eventually cut out.

I rang TB directly and spoke to Darren who from the get go offered full help and support without hesitation (shame PerthPhil) had issues with customer service because my experience with Darren at TB was completely opposite.

Darren without delay organised replacement parts with instructions and despatched them within 1 day.

Buying Aussie goods from an Aussie company is worth paying the $ for, and to have exceptional customer service to go along with it will keep me buying Aussie built goods.

5 stars to Darren and the TB team for providing a first class product with first class after sales care.

By the way I have not been offered reward for this review, I generally only leave reviews for either exceptional service or exceptionally poor service.

Well done guys....

Purchased in at Travelbuddy for $370.

Saw it used on 4xoverland YouTube – Have not had any power issues fortunately, nor had to contact seller, BUT, PerthPhil episode should not happen. So far so good, used for Beefy pies from frozen, Aldi fish cakes, frozen Samosa & Pizza re-heat, works a treat with crusty pastry. But, does get #*^&# hot on the exterior & the door handle gets VERY tight when oven is hot. Needs fixing down as to open requires a strong tug on the handle or a glove to hold it steady. Received an email from supplier asking for a review, made a comprehensive report with all my "bright ideas" like a thermostat etc & got a pop up saying I had to be a customer & it was rejected ??

Purchased in at Manufacturer for $299.

Great product but faulty cable and terrible after sales service – The 12V travel buddy is a small oven with timer that sits in your car and heats up pies etc... whilst driving. Great for tradesmen and 4wd overlanders. I purchased mine from a local camping store and the 12V plug overheated and fused in the first few days. I was only using it when heating pies and it was probably only working 3-4 hours in total before the cigarette ligher plug went up in smoke and melted. It was hard wired and I was in the middle of nowhere so had to effect an interim repair.

The manufacturer told me the plug probably wasn't inserted fully causing it to short but it heated up pies for several days just fine, then stopped working. He is refusing to repair / replace the cable under warranty.

The camping store is keen to help out and I will probably get an electrician to wire in an alternate cable if I cannot get a resolution through my consumer warranty but the customer service from Travel Buddy is pretty poor. It doesn't matter how good the product is if the manufacturer shirks their obligations when something goes wrong unfortunately.
