Junk – This is utter junk. First it runs badly even after and hour with new gas it still sputters and needs the throttle finessing to keep going. The intake keeps falling off which means the guard flips down and you need a screw driver to reattach it. Otherwise you have to remember to lean over the hot exhaust and keep reattaching it. other hand removing the bag is a pain and needs wrestling.
Even the zip on the bag is badly positioned and makes emptying difficult.
Suction doesn't. It sucks! but it doesn't suck.
I miss my old 2 stroke cheapy.
Wonderful machine - BUT – This is one of the smoothest, easiest to operate full crank 2-stroke machines I have ever used. The vacuum is a little clumsy, but aren't they all? BUT! If it ever breaks, the chances of you getting parts for it in Australia seem to be somewhat similar to a snowflake's chances in hell. They simply cannot be found. It is one thing for… Read more
shops like Masters to sell the things and take your money, but another completely to think that they might offer parts support.
An excellent product completely spoiled for lack of parts.
I recommend you look for another brand.
easy start – this blower does the job with little fuss, extremely easy to start and has a decent amount of air to move leaves and dirt. my blower is a blower only, and I have not seen the one that has the vacuum option, (so I cannot comment on an option that does not exist on my machine ? ? ) I have had this for over six months now it has not missed a beat.… Read more
I did not review earlier as I wanted to see how it ran over a period of time ( not just one day)
No mixing fuel is a plus.
I think that at full revs it is a bit noisy and would recommend ear muffs
The only downside to the blower is that it is quite heavy and would get tiring to use for extended periods.
I would have given five stars but for the weight of the machine
no grunt – if you want to vacuum more than a leaf don't bother, blower 50% of air compare to my 15 year old echo own for 1 day as it did not meet my expectation, why do people bother writing a reviews without trying the whole machine first. it would of save my time and money
Excellent machine – I am very happy with my 4 stroke Troy built blower and cannot believe how easy it is to start. It will start first pull of the cord every time. I have left it sitting in the shed for a couple of months and it still starts first pull. It does a good job of blowing leaves , grass clippings and dirt from my paths and will blow leaves from my lawn… Read more
with ease. It does tend to get a little heavy after a while and will suck against your trousers if you hold it with your left hand but overall it is a good machine. You have to be careful not to overfill it with engine oil or it will leak oil out from the aircleaner via the crankcase breather hose, but apart from that it has been faultless.
Excellent Blower Vac, very very happy! – I bought this almost a year ago and use it all the time! It starts easily and I love the fact that it like most other Troy Bilt products has the jump start option... just stick my cordless drill in the hole, blast the trigger and it starts! I like the 'cruise control' option that stops you having to hold the trigger and it is relatively quiet and… Read more
clean for a blower too. The newest version also has a vacuum capability that is very useful~! Quiet, Easy to start, Made in USA, No oil/fuel mixing could have longer vacuum tube
Quite Impressive to a Point - Very Happy – Troy-Bilt has 2 cycle and 4 cycle models as well as a good reputation in North America. While many brands highly regarded in North America sell very different Asian products in Australia, the Troy-bilt range appears to be the same good quality range sold in North America although with our common "extra Australian markup". After some research… Read more
I went for the 4 cycle. 4 cycles! A real throttle! No mixing petrol and oil! An affordable price! Fairly powerful! Started with almost zero effort. The downsides include that it is a bit heavy (4 cycle!), the oil seems to somehow get lose during the crank fill although it is not obvious how that happens - a common gripe. There are also break-in instructions that should be read and followed, and at 10 hours running one is supposed to check the valve clearance. While instructions are provided and it does not appear hard, for the mechanically challenged it could be a cost at the shop, or using it if nothing seems wrong and taking the risk it is OK.
Oil needs a periodic change although not hard and not much - assuming one read the instructions and kept the little oil jug that came with the unit. Having to dispose of the small quantity of used oil makes the difference between 2 and 4 cycles engines almost deuce.
There is an optional attachment available so it can be drill started, but it is so easy to start I could not imagine it would ever be needed.
The staff at Masters Northland was fairly knowledgeable about the range of products, something increasingly rare at many large volume stores.
After a few days I love it! If anything changes over time I'll add to the post. 4-cycle. Easy starting. Powerful. Less Noise. Oil gets out how during filling? A bit heavy. 4-cycle maintenance
