I Had the worst experience with waterco. for 7 months the heater wouldn't work and they kept blaming the installer, they finally sent out their own tech that confirmed the unit is faulty. Now I've been having problems with the eco pump but they again are blaming the installer and want to charge me $200 to send out a tech to have a look and its still under warranty. they are impossible to talk to. Would never recommend them. Show details

Love this heat pump! – I have had this heat pump from Waterco for about 3 months, and have to say, it is absolutely fantastic! The kids think it is the best thing ever, and the whole family have been using the pool so much more than before. It really helps us get the most out of our pool. The pump is super simple to use - I can easily change the temperature settings on… Read more ·  1

my phone. It is also really quiet when operating. The customer service was top-notch and the installation a breeze. Overall, this heat pump has greatly enhanced our swimming experience, and we couldn’t be happier with it!

Reliable and efficient pool heater – Heat pump install was easy, heat pump runs well, ours is run by aquamaster which means it’s all automated, resulting in many more swim days. We have solar panels so zero running cost. Show reply

Keeps the temperature perfect everyday! – So glad we made the move to the waterco heat pump. Swimart team who helped install it were great. We went from solar pool heating which only heat up the pool when it was warm day only or needed consecutive warm days to get it back up to temperature. (Many swim days missed cause it was too cold) We replaced all the solar pool heating strips with… Read more ·  1

electrical solar panels. (More than enough to run the heat pump everyday plus extra electricity into the house.) Overall change over cost was high but worth it to be able to use a pool when you want to. Even with the heat pump, my electricity bills have dropped by more then 80%.

The Waterco heat pump is easy to use. We just set the temp and it keeps it stable all during the swim period. found it’s also very not very noisey at all. (Much quieter then our aircon system)

Best investment ever! – I recently had the Electroheat Pool Heat Pump installed for our pool. The pump heated our pool temp from 21 degrees on the night it was installed to a balmy 28 degrees the very next afternoon, which it now maintains every day. Our pool isn't small either (9.5m x 5m)! The kids absolutely love the pool (now) and I particularly enjoy visiting… Read more ·  1

friends who have a pool in the same suburb but don't get any use out of it because "it's too cold". We used to have a solar heating system, but this pump works much more effectively as we can now install solar electricity panels on the roof (instead) to offset any energy use for the heat pump and the filter. Also, I don't need a whole lot of hot days before the pool warms up, which was a problem with the solar. The system itself runs really quietly (ie it is quieter than our pool filter) - so quietly I have had to check if it is actually running. There is no effort with running the system, you set the temperature to the required temp (28 degrees for me) and it automatically turns on with the filter if the temp is below this The hardest part is I had to help the installer carry it to the pool area (I think it weighed about 100kg) - however, I think this is because it is a quality piece of hardware, so it will last for a long time. I had no problems with installation or dealing with Waterco, I would highly recommend this to anyone. Overall, a 5 star piece of equipment and an absolute game changer for pool use!

Pros - We'll be able to use the pool for months more than we used to; We don't need to wait for days of warm weather for the old solar heating to heat the pool; Frees up the roof for electric solar panels to manage electricity costs. Runs quietly & simple to operate (literally do nothing after installation)

Cons - Heavy, needs more than one person for installation. It's hard to get the kids out of the pool.

Awesome Pool Heat Pump – The Waterco Electroheat MKV that I have installed is working very well. Had it installed late last year so have not had the opportunity to really test it till now. Its working very well for my pool (8m+ x 3m+). I have it set at over 30c, took a few hours to get there, but pool feels great. Staff at the local Swimart on the North Shore were also very helpful with advice and some spare parts for the pipes (had to relocate the unit). Show details ·  1

**Update on this review - 9th December 2022: Waterco Electroheat MKIV not worth the money – **Update on this review - 9th December 2022 I would like to thank the Waterco NSW manager, [Name Removed], who made it his goal to solve the issues with the MKIV heat pump not heating our pool. Once [Name Removed] was made aware of the issues below, he was very responsive and made sure that the matter was resolved. He solved the problem by… Read more

installing an Electroheat ECO-V inverter heat pump. The pool temperature is now maintained at 30 degrees.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- My advice to anyone considering buying a Waterco heat-pump pool heater is to choose another brand - it does not extend the swimming season or meet the specifications advertised in the brochure, on top of appalling customer and technical services provided by both Waterco and their local suppliers (Swimart).

I purchased a Waterco Electroheat MKIV 23kW pool heat pump less than two years ago and this pump is just costing lots of electricity with very inefficient pool water heating. At times, it seems that the heat pump cools the water!! The most it can do is heat the water by about 1.5 degrees on a very warm day over the course of 8 hours (this is probably mostly due to the blanket). After chasing Swimart (whom I bought the pump from) and Waterco for nearly two months about this issue, a technician was finally sent to inspect the heat pump and reported that the pump is operational (yes, it turns on and there is a water blanket!). It appears that Waterco and Swimart are satisfied that this expensive heat pump does not perform as stated in their brochure. In the brochure for this heat pump it says “Between 10°C to 18°C, it will increase your water temperature by 3°C to 5.5°C a day. Over 21°C you should obtain an increase up to 0.8°C an hour and over 26°C up to 1.1°C an hour.” This is garbage as my heat pump does not operate in anyway close to that detailed in the brochure.

I have provided Waterco with further evidence on the poor performance of the heat pump. On a 20 degree day, the heat pump heated the pool water temperature at a rate of ~0.3 °C/hour and it increased the water temperature by 1.8 degrees over 6 hours. Following this, the pool temperature then decreased from 23°C to 22.5°C over two hours. So, the heat pump cooled the water at a rate of 0.25 °C/hour even though the outside temperature was ~19°C and there was lots of icing on the heat pump. In conclusion, with running the heat pump for over 8 hours on a warm day, it appears that the best that it can do is an increase of 1.3 degrees. I asked Waterco if this is the best that the heat pump can do but they have failed to respond to my email. I have sent 3 further emails, directly to the NSW Service Manager but there has still been no response.

Since Waterco have not responded to my queries, I presume the silence means that they don’t have an answer and that the heat pump is not in good working condition. To be frank, the customer service from both Waterco and Swimart has been appalling. Waterco can’t provide any answers to why my heat pump is performing so poorly. My advice is that you should not buy a Waterco heat-pump pool heater since it clearly does not extend the swimming season, their advertising in the brochure is false and their customer and technical services appalling.

Waterco Electroheat MKV pool heat pump - does not heat pool as stated in their brochure! – UPDATE - Dec 2021 After having this matter heard in QCAT, this matter has now been resolved with Waterco agreeing provide a 12kW heat pump for a discounted price. I was happy too agree to this outcome. It is sad that it required me to take this matter to QCAT to get the matter resolved, but it is all done now. I purchased and installed a… Read more

Waterco MKV 9kW Heat Pump, and a Daisy 525B Solar Pool Cover for my pool in October 2020. The size of the Waterco MKV 9kW Heat Pump was recommended by Central Solar Systems, Bundall Qld.

In June/July 2021, I was running the heat pump my Waterco MKV 9kW Heat Pump for 17.5 hours per day whereby I found it was incapable of reaching and maintaining 28 degrees water temperature as detailed in the Waterco brochure sizing chart...the highest temperature I achieved was 26.1 degrees for 2 hours only.

I tried an exercise whereby I ran the heat pump over a period of 21 days commencing the 26/6/21…16 days for 17.5 hours per day and 5 days for 10 hours per day. Throughout the 21 days of the exercise, the heat pump only managed to heat the pool water up to a maximum temperature of 26.1 degrees for a period of 2 hours on the 12/7/21. Most days, the heat pump only managed to get the pool water temperature in the range of 25 to 25.8 degrees between 3:00pm to 5:00pm. The daily average ambient temperatures during that period ranged from 14 at night to 21 during the day.

Furthermore, there is no information on the Waterco brochure which provides any information in respect of the period May to August. The Waterco brochure is very misleading to the average purchaser or even retailer/installer for that matter. Also there is no mention in the Waterco brochure that retailers or installers should use the Waterco ‘heat pump calculator’ for the purpose of accurately determining the correct sizing of a heat pump for a specific pool as stated by [Name Removed], QLD Sales Operations Manager.

The Waterco brochure (page 10), states that a 9kW system is suitable for a ‘warm location (Brisbane) where minimum average daytime temperatures between September to April are not less than 24 C for pools up to 50,000 litres, which have a pool cover running for a period of 10 hours per day. Additionally, there is no mention in the FAQ section on the Waterco brochure (or anywhere else for that matter), where it states that a heat pump will not heat a pool up to the 28 degrees during the period May to August.

Even during the months of Jan, Feb, March and April, there were many days whereby the heat pump struggled to reach 28 degrees even though the ambient daily temperature reached 25 degrees.

Given the disappointing outcome of the exercise, it is abundantly clear to me that the Waterco MKV 9kW Heat Pump is incapable of reaching and maintaining 28 degrees as detailed in the Waterco brochure sizing chart nor is it capable of achieving my desired goal of maintaining my minimum water temperature requirement of 28 degrees. I believe the Waterco brochure is misleading and misrepresentation of the capability of the heat pump to heat the capacity/size of my pool of approximately 45,000 litres (i.e. Waterco brochure states up to 50,000 litres in a ‘warm location’).

The worst part about dealing with Waterco is that they will not do a warranty call to determine if there is a problem with the heat pump...their Customer Service staff and the Qld Sales Operations Manager state that the heat pump is operating as it should.

My question is...how would they know if they haven't even bothered to investigate the problem and do a warranty call to see if the heat pump is operating correctly?

Appalling customer service!

The bottom line is that I will never purchase a Waterco product again.
