Common Faults not Necessary – I am a Retired Builder and have used these GWH645 Westinghouse Ovens in the last two Homes I built which I kept as rental properties. Both Properties are 10 years old and have been predominately occupied by Asian Families who never used the Ovens to speak of. We all know they use Woks on the Gas Cooktop, 99% of the time. The both Ovens even look… Read more

like new inside and out and it is obvious they are extremely lightly used. The Tenant in one house has become involved in Cake making for her 18 month old twins and to her dismay and moine the Oven would not light for ages. I had a certified gasfitter come to look at it and He advised it is a common problem with these Ovens and it had also burnt out part of the Burner in the light use it had. He quoted about $400 to fix it but advised me it would do it again. I subsequently found on websites that this is a Common Problem. I rang Email and they refused to talk about it due to the age of the Oven. I have a Gas Double Oven & Grill in my own home next door to the rental properties which is 28 years old, looks like new, is used far more than the rental property ones and it works PERFECTLY with no sign of deterioration Needless to say it is not a Westinghouse. One Westinghouse Dishwasher in the rental Property only lasted about 5 years yet my Vulcan Dishlex at home, which is over 30 years old still works perfectly. ALL I CAN SAY IS DO NOT BUY WESTINGHOUSE. NOTHING IGNITER WON'T WORK AND BURNER IS BURNT OUT WITH VERY LITTLE USE.

Great stainless steel wall feature – But that's about it. I bought this oven a while ago and the first one i had stopped working all of a sudden. Westinghouse sent out a tech to repair it and about two weeks later i had the same thing happen. Westinghouse sent out a tech again. The third time i wanted it replaced. Westinghouse obliged and replaced it. The second one stopped working… Read more

9 months out of warranty and because they replaced it i have no grounds to go back to the retailer to make any sort of claim. This is a $1600 wall feature. Looks good, Stainless is easy to clean. Won't ignite. Interior finish is hard to clean. Lots of small cavities to collect grease. Cooked unevenly when it did work. Heats the entire kitchen.

very bad – I now read that other people have been having trouble with this oven and I am hoping that if anyone thinking of buying this oven think again. I have had no end with the ignition and when the oven has got to the temperature it will not reignite, it cooks unevenly, the back is burnt and the front is just cooked, I have had lots of parts replaced still I am putting up with this and have not got a replacement.

Worse Gas Oven on the Market! – I had a gas oven for 10 years before buying this one and did not experience the problems I had with this 650S model. The oven's biggest problem was that it did not generally cook food evenly. The first day I used it I cooked chicken with potatoes. Half the chicken was cooked the other half was raw. I used it to bake biscuits - half the tray… Read more

was brown, some were cooked in the middle and the ones on the side were burnt. The Westinghouse technician came out and said that the oven's thermostat was not calibrated correctly and the temperature was 40 degrees below what it should be. He adjusted it. When he left I cooked a flat sponge cake, it overcooked parts of the cake. I also cooked some pastries and set the temperature 30 degrees below and 7 minutes less than what the recipe stated. It burnt the pastries. It was almost as if the temperature was set too high by the technician. The second problem was that the grill took a very long time to cook even when the temperature was on high. The third problem was that an excessive amount of hot air escaped from the oven while cooking and heated the whole kitchen. The technician said these other 2 problems were normal for this oven. Westinghouse made another appointment with me for another technician to come out. I waited for them the whole day and called them in the morning to confirm that a technician would in fact come out. However, no one from Westinghouse showed up. I called the company that sold me the oven and told them that I wanted to exchange the oven with another oven. They thankfully offered me a replacement. I exchanged it with an Electric Oven which so far works well.

I would definitely not recommend this 650S/650W model to anyone. It should be removed by Westinghouse from the market place as it is a defective model that destroys the Westinghouse brand. The exterior is a nice style. It is defective model - it does not cook evenly, the grill takes too long to cook, excessive amount of hot air escapes from the oven while cooking

Good – It is extremely disappointing to me that it took a male (husband) person to get a satisfactory response. Perhaps manufacturers need to remember that the larger percentage of purchasing decisions in the home are actually made by female persons. Subsequent to my review 21/2/10, an Electolux serviceman replaced the inner glass door which had… Read more

exploded. Ten minutes after turning on the oven the new door exploded. I contacted Electrolux once again and they said the only option was to have to serviceman return a week later and replace the replaced glass. By this stage I was exploding! My husband contacted Head Office in Sydney and within three days Electolux arranged to replace the entire oven. Their prompt response and pleasant service was impressive. We are very happy with the overall outcome and the oven is great. Electrolux followed up by sending us a beautiful arrangement of flowers yesterday.

Bad – Gas is the most environmentally friendly way of cooking. Since purchasing this oven, I have found that the English brand STOVES has a beautiful fully gas wall oven with gas grill! NEVER BUY ANY ELECTROLUX COMPANYY OVEN AS COMPONENTS ARE SHARED THROUGHOUT ALL BRANDS. Whatever problem you have with the oven, it is not a manufacturing fault… Read more

according to westinghouse and youare forced to pay for a service representative to come out even though the product is under warranty.

I am Italian, have cooked from the age of 4 and used 3 chef gas ovens and one electric chef oven. The best gas ovens I have ever used were uprights. Our original home's gas upright was only replaced last year because it was looking tired after 35yrs of Italians and chinese people using it even though it still worked well. Electrolux has destroyed Chef and Westinghouse. The electric oven was absolute rubbish in my current home and replaced it for the only gas model of the same size thinking I would be in cooking heaven. How I was wrong! Many people comment about how beautiful it looks and anti-marking s/s is excellent. Has severe ingnition problem. Sometimes it just will not start. Other times when cooking a roast on low heat, gas cuts out to maintain temperature and then cannot reignite. Unfortunately, there is no indication this has happened as light remains on until you open the oven door after 2.5hrs of supposedly cooking and find the oven is cold and your roast smells off with a slight gassy smell.

Does not cook evenly. Does not cook cakes well.

Grill is not gas but at least it has temperature control. Grill tray is very dangerous as it tilts on a severe angle when you pull out the tray to retrieve your cooked items and surface has already deteriorated after 2 months. Not able to purchase telescopic tray for grill which exists in Electrolux model even though the grill tray is exactly the same.

Excellent – We could have gone up in price to get one with the self cleaning option, but the dollars increase heaps so bring on the elbow grease. The dual fuel is nice(electric grill)Overall a good reliable unit. good size for the average family.A nice basic oven easy to use features. A typical oven when trying to keep it clean.

Bad – Given that you can only get one model of Westinghouse that has grill and runs on gas we will have to wait until te new oven arrives The oven looks fantastic and cooked well first time used, the timer and clocks are also easy to use. The 2nd time we used it the glass door exploded. Not easy to try and get another oven installed.
