Re PHN768U Ceramic Cooktop - I have just had a Dual element fail - and I am told that to replace it is risky as the Ceramic top could fracture - how long should a cooktop last - using 1.5 hrs/day - mostly on full dual (ie 2200KW) It is about 10-12 yrs old and otherwise has been excellent.

Hello Brian, apart from our initial problems with the uneven surface, we haven’t had any trouble with our cooktop. Ours is now 8 years old and is used for about 1.5 hours per day. As with most products that are made in China, it’s probably cheaper to replace it with a updated model, rather than repair it. However, installation costs would need to be considered. Would your home insurance cover the cost if the glass surface broke? Hope this has been useful. Good luck.
