We have a POP883swestinghouse oven and can't turn it off. Each time we try Pyro shows.Help please

Sorry Doug, but we just pulled ours out and replaced it with another brand. Our pyro never worked. We also had the not turn off thing- the light stayed on and a very low temp. We used to turn the oven off at the fuse box. It never got as hot as it should be and had a very uneven temperature within the oven so we had to keep rotating baking trays. The last straw was halfway through cooking the Sunday roast it tripped. When we tried again same thing happened at 20 degrees and there were sparks out of the display. My new oven was a lot less expensive than the Westinghouse was and it is wonderful. Best check with Westinghouse as to weather parts are available also. Good luck.

Our pyrolytic is the same. I always cook on higher than recommended temp or the food doesn't cook properly. First one had a faulty door mechanism & the door would pop off! They replaced it for us, only one month old. Then the second one had these heating issues, pretty disappointing. I tried a pyrolytic clean & got multiple different errors, door locking mechanism malfunctioning all over the place & now the oven just won't heat.

I have never been able to get my pyrolytic function to work. I need to get an electrician in now as I have long ran out of warranty (my fault). Does anyone know what the fix is? I have read that this is a common problem. Thanks

Hello Panda, are you selecting the pyroytic function correctly? There are 2 pyrolytic functions........one runs for 2 hours and the second runs for 2.5 hours.

Hi We Have a Westinghouse pyrolytic 60cm oven POP886S. The door is not fully closing and it seems like its out of adjustment slightly. We can still get it to trigger the micro switch by careful closing of the door hence the oven will turn on.. but it tends to slowly open after a while.... I'm wonder how to adjust these hinges ? Chris

Have a Westinghouse pyrolytic 60cm oven. Electronic controls only. We had a power outage and when power resumed, the lock symbol was showing. I have been able to set the clock. Cannot open the oven, cannot switch it on or anything else. When I press and hold the function and “-“ controls it says SAFE. I hold again and safe disappears but the lock symbol stays. Help!

Have just used the pyrolytic cleaning it has now been 5 hours and its showing F02 and the door wont open how can i fix this?

jo

Usually when the oven cools down enough the auto lock will go off, if,it doesn’t you will need to get a technician , if you want to use the pyro cleaning function in the future you will have to get that fixed as a well.

When I turn off the power to the oven and then turn it back on, I get a "C57 0187" code before the option to set the time. Does anyone know what this code means?

I have a Westinghouse pop883s oven and the safety lock somehow activated and retracted halfway and cannot shut the oven door. What can be done to fix this as I cannot use the oven.

jo

Luckily I haven't had that problem, i have heard others complain of the lock not disengaging, whilst using the pyrolytic function you may what to search for those. If they cant help it looks like you will have to contact Westinghouse. Good luck.

barb

why did my oven turn off when baking on function 5 at 195?

jo
jo

Hi Barb my oven has never done this and it is getting onto four years old now I don't think this should happen see if you can get the oven to do this again I generally write the faults down the date time etc

I would also gett in touch with The manufacturer and see what they say best of luck

I have not experienced this. Could be overloaded electrical circuit as all elements are on at once, or timer set incorrectly _ its easy double set the timer or could be a unique problem to your oven. See if it will do it again.

Hello, when it's in pyro mode, is air supposed to come out from the top of the door? I'm doing this for the first time.

jo
jo

Hello Laura, I only use this function at most twice a year and I use the delay start so that the electricity is cheap about 4am in the morning.it comes on when I am asleep and finishes before I get out of bed.

So I am not sure about hot air coming out from the top of the door. I don't think it does but I will make an effort next time I use the function and endeavour to get out of bed to check. I will let you know. sorry I cant be more helpful.

jo
jo

hello Laura, I used my pyro function the other night , my husband was out of bed before it finished and said yes there is a lot of hot air coming out of the oven, if fact it warmed the kitchen so much we didn't have to put the heater on.

hope this helps

Westinghouse POP883 oven - just changed the oven light. Manual says slide the glass cover back to the right and just snap the cover back in place. Tried for over an hour to "snap" the glass back in place. Even tried putting it in the freezer to shrink for a while. Very inaccessible, bad design. How do I get it back in? Or do I take the light bulb out & run it without a light until we replace the oven?

Stuart Rolly

Im not sure what model you have , when i looked at mine just now it seems to just turn on and off like a tap so whilst twisting to the right it should lock on in place. i hope this helps cheers Stu

Hi Mark, I never managed to change the oven light bulb by myself. The electrician who changed it for me on the last occasion discovered dangerous burnt wiring and told me not to use the oven until it was fixed. I believe it was faulty from when it was still under warranty - a new light bulb was never going to be the answer. The whole light-bulb outfit was replaced and all was well until the oven door-lock played up. Eventually, my complaint to the Office of Fair Trading paid off and I have been supplied with a new replacement oven by Electrolux. Cheers, Jenny.

I'm having a problem with the lock bit catching on the oven door every time I go to close the door. It's worse when the oven is heated and it's extremely difficult to close it at all. I'm afraid the glass is going to break. Is there some way to remove the latch altogether? I've never used the pyro clean function as I clean the oven after each use. Other than the latch problem the oven works well.

Thanks

Lynda

jo
jo

hi Lyndia, i am not having this problem, my problem is an error code(f02 when I use the cleaning funtion) which Westinghouse rang and told me it is either a door fault or a light switch fault, I can open and shut my door easily. so unfortunately I cannot advise you on this problem.

Lynda
Lynda

Thanks Jo, I've solved the problem after all with using some pliers and a bit of force I've been able to push the metal rod out of the way.

Jenny
Jenny

Hi Lynda & Jo, My oven is about four years old now. In the last six months we've had to replace the whole lighting mechanism because of dangerous burnt wiring. I believe it was faulty from the beginning as new bulbs would keep blowing. We've also had the door-lock mechanism removed, never to be replaced. A new outfit costs $336 and who wants to go through that again? Seems it's a common problem going by the remarks on the Review site. The microwave we purchased with this oven also had to be replaced after two years, just after the warranty ran out. I have written to the Electrolux company but no reply yet. The appliances are obviously faulty - and not made for a built-in situation where they should last for 20 years. Jenny.

Meg

Hi-I have had exactly the same problem. It gradually gets worse and worse. I believe what happens is that the child lock/locking mechanism that comes on during the clean cycle seems to partially engage. The one way I have found to fix it is to run a pyroclean cycle=this then properly locks the mechanism, and releases it properly at the end of the cycle. No more catching.

Disappointing problem.
