We bought a pigeon pair and could not get either fridge or freezer to stand still on the floor. The old fridge freezer stands perfectly fine but our floor is being blamed and Appliances Online is charging us over 800 dollars to have both returned.… Read more

Worst quality legs to stand such heavy products on. Absolutely useless, and they can not stablise fridge nor freezer.

Follow-up  · We returned both and were charged 800 dollars because the products were unboxed. Never had a fridge freezer problem with the old one but matching two perfectly was impossible. They both moved constantly with every door opening and closing. Definitely a fault I would say but I happily gave 800 dollars to be rid of both

Our old Fisher and Paykel fridge stopped working, we have a separeate freezer so looked for an all fridge. We bought this model and love it, it has loads of room, shelves can be spaced as your prefer and has lots of room on the door for bottles etc. We have not looked back, we are very happy with our purchase.

If I could give zero stars I would. Horrible fridge. Open it to get milk out and it seals and won’t reopen for 5 minutes. The longer the door is open the longer it seals. Just waited 22 minutes to open the door. Have to hold dinner for my demented father until I can get in. Extremely frustrating. I just want it removed and refunded but company… Read more

refuses. They insist on sending service. Waited 2 weeks for service to call me. I finally called Westinghouse again and oops so sorry that company doesn’t service that model! So sorry you have to wait again. It also leaks water. We have to keep the door open u til certain we’ve gotten all needed items out. This seems to cause the fridge to leak all over the floor. Really horrible.

Highly recommended freezer – Quality vertical freezer with ample storage. Great handle for easy opening for tall or shorter people. Clean sleek lines. Hands down the best freezer I’ve ever owned. Would recommend highly.

Inside casing started to crack after 2.5 years – We bought teh fridge in December 2017. Cooling is acceptable but the internal casing started to crack below vegetable crisper(bottom of fridge) and sides (see photo). We hope cracks don't open up in coming years.

Big Fridge. Not enough shelves and needs an extra crisper. Terrible customer service – It’s big. That’s what I wanted. Customer service is terrible. There are not enough shelves in this fridge and one crisper for a fridge this size is ridiculous. Ive nearly spent an extra $500 to get the extra pieces that I need. parts and I can’t seem to get customer service to understand that I am missing a part. How do I get the missing part? It doesn’t seem to have a number. They (customer service) keep sending me a diagram and asking Me to tell them what number is the part!!! — there is no number ARGH! Also the manual for the fridge is just a tiny manual for all the fridges. It took me ages to work out that I could actually get extra parts for the fridge. When I go on to Westinghouse spare parts and put in the model number it says that there is nothing for me? My fridge has been a hot mess for months. I don’t recommend. Get something better with better customer service.

Bad Feet Spoils the Beet – We bought a Westinghouse Fridge to match the same brand Freezer ("Pigeon Pair") and I should say that from past experience this brand for reliability, really is a 5-Star unit, so why down to 2x stars here? Because this review system does not allow for categorical star rating, I'll share our experience below: We get the fridge home, and have to… Read more

assemble the handles, NOT good to do, but eventually when they are fastened, they are slick and good to use and with elegant style, just like in the shop. Handles to Assemble: 1.5 out of 10 Handles to Use once assembled: 9 out of 10

So now the most important thing in using a fridge from day to day: Stability. When you open a fridge, you don't want it to move and slide all over the place; this is especially bad since the rear of the unit requires a minimum gap for ventilation etc. So Westinghouse give its customer that has paid thousands of dollars, a 2c piece of rubber that we're supposed to slip under the rollers of the fridge which "weighs a ton to move". Ok so we do this, and it's even worse! There is a screw-out little feet at the bottom that are supposed to help with the leveling and stability of the fridge, alas these are utterly useless since they are made of flimsy material, and do absolutely nothing to hold the fridge at the right level and added stability. Awkward to be wound out, way below good engineering of other much cheaper fridges where a. nice thick 10mm bolt with plastic feet cover helps the customer do a good job of stablizing a fridge. Alos the thermostat is inside, unlike other fridges that have an actual temp. readout and adjustment right there on the door without having to open it!

Anyway, I will give a star rating for the fridge below, based on a 10 out of 10 system (or -10/10).

LED digital temperature control: 6/10 Placement of Temperature Control: 4/10 Inside Fridge Design: 8.5/10 Noise Level: 7.8/10 Lighting Design Inside: 9/10 Space Inside: 9/10 Shelves in Door: 8.5/10 Shelves Inside: 8/10 Draws: 7.8/10 Stability of Fridge: -8/10 Ready to Go, Assembly of Handle: -3/10 Reliability based on Previous similar models (this is a new unit): 10/10 External Appearance: 5/10 Power Cord Length & Placement Convenience: 6/10 Price Value: 6.7/10

Cooling perfectly - 2 years old now – Hi, We bought this Westinghouse 501L fridge WBR5004SB (stainless) 2 years ago (after the bushfires). So far we are very happy with cooling performance. Actually - as always on my fridges and freezers - I added a digital thermometer outside (with its sensor at the end of a long wire inside: Sometimes I have it running on the highest level (5) and… Read more

this gives me 2°C, sometimes on level 4, which gives me about 4-5°C.

And it definitely looks good (stainless steel).

Good also, that I never have to defrost.

I deducted one star, because the bottom plastic tray really should have been designed to slide heaps easier. Obviously, the purpose of the tray is to put stuff in there, and as our fridge is always very full, so is the bottom tray, i.e. it is heavy. It would be impossible to open this full tray with one hand only. The tray would be guaranteed to break. Thus, I always have to go down onto my knees and carefully open that tray with both hands. That is a clear design-failure. Bearing-wheels on the bottom of the fridge would be the solution.

Also, I have to agree with the comment below about the lower plastic hinge: This should definitely not be made out of plastic. I just checked: Mine is plastic, two. Having in mind how heavy that door is (fully loaded), this plastic hinge is designed to fail over time. Mine is still good, but it will fail for sure. I did also have an older Westinghouse fridge before that one (which burned to dust in the bushfires 2019 together with everything) and there I did have that hinge-problem myself - after wondering as to why the door does not close properly anymore I figured that the plastic-hinge is worn off. I seriously cannot explain the continued use of plastic hinges other than that is meant to be an intentional weak-point where the product would fail by design after time to force customers to buy a new fridge...

As I am someone, who can fix pretty much everything, I fixed that old fridge (before the fire obviously) by replacing the plastic-parts with steel-parts.

Cheers, Peter

open at all, not even with trying to wedge a knife to break the seal. previously since buying the fridge it would take anywhere from 1-3 minutes to get it open. We phoned Electrolux on that 41 degree day. The lady on the phone was great, she had a person to our house within a few hour. Can you believe the problem was some tiny piece of plastic that is installed during manufacturing to prevent something I think during transport (cant explain exactly what it was, but the size of your thumb nail). Now no door issues, we close it and we can reopen again in seconds. If people are having door issues they need to get a service person from Westinghouse/Electrolux to come and remove this piece of plastics Thanks for the great service. We definitely will always look at your brands first when buying products. Thanks

excellent- plenty of room and keeps food cold and fresh – We bought this as part of a fridge freezer pigeon pair. it is a big roomy fridge At first the doors were a bit hard to open, a sharp tug generally does it, but it has now eased with use. It seals very well. It is part of a pigeon pair, there is a way of attaching it to the freezer but we didn't take that option, some times the fridge might move a little as we tug the door but easily pushed back into place.

Excellent fridge that holds it's temp evenly throughout the unit, top and bottom – Bought this as a second fridge and is working well. Easy to assemble and lives in the garage with no issues. Maintains the temperature throughout the fridge and is very easy to use. Shelves are easy to move around and can store plenty of difficult size shapes when needed during parties. Very happy with the operation. Show details

Leaking all over my floor – I have had this fridge for 3 years and from day 1 it has been leaking from the drip tray all over my floor. Can hear the water dripping down into drip tray excessively. Waking up to mopping up is not fun and had electrician sent twice. First time said the hose was too long and trimmed it second time said can’t find anything wrong. The same thing happened to my Westinghouse refrigerator – I have a similar Westinghouse refrigerator - all fridge - and a similar thing happened to mine. of the contents. Because it was more than eight years old, there was no replacement available. While I can't remember how old it is, I think it is not much more than eight years old. Our previous Westinghouse refrigerator had last more that 20 years. As I will not buy another Westinghouse refrigerator, or anything owned by a Chinese company, my choice for a similar all fridge is severely limited. I did write to Westinghouse, but received a standard bland response that did not acknowledge that the hinge arrrangement was inappropriate, nor that the fault had been remedied.

Poorly made door for the old model and it seems the new one – Westinghouse seems to have incredibly poor construction in the doors which creates failures. My 2 year old daughter opened the fridge and the door fell right off. The bottom mount had been eaten away with the cheap plastic rubbing on the metal and the styrofoam it sits in without any real bracing gave way, dropping the door down and out. … Read more

Luckily the door fell towards my wife and she caught it, so nobody was seriously hurt except some cuts and bruises.

To add insult to this, they don't make their parts available for the lifetime of their products. They offered us a replacement fridge of the new model for a discount of around 25% off what you can buy it for (about 45% off RRP, but nobody pays that). However, it is a pigeon pair and means we would have a different fridge and freezer, unless we buy a replacement freezer and sell the old one ourselves.

In considering what to do, I came here and reading other reviews, it seems the door issues have not been fixed in the new models, so I am not sure that getting this model is the right decision. A frustrating experience all around.

Would not recommend – Purchased pigeon pair Westinghouse upright fridge/freezer less than 3 years ago. Have had no problems with the freezer, but have issues with the fridge turning itself off earlier this year, and now it not cooling properly. Had technician out who has said the problem is a gas leak. Apparently common in older fridges but very unusual in a fridge this age. Only has a two year warranty so out of pocket for a new fridge now. Would not recommend.

STILL using cheap unreliable parts on their doors & have not learnt the lesson from having to replace a whole heap of appliances with this problem. I only keep 1 x 2 litre bottle milk plus a couple of 1 litre bottles of water in fridge door now. I really should be able to keep much more in the door than that. This company is pathetic, they do not care that we the customer have spent up to a couple of thousand dollars for a product that does not live up to expectations. Same door issues as others - don't buy unless you enjoy frustration – See other reviews. bought this fridge Xmas 2016 and I have similar issues - is this a manufacturing flaw? Worst fridge I’ve ever had! – This is the worst fridge I’ve ever owned. I’m kicking myself that I’ve left it this long to write a review. Good temperature – My 20-year old fridge went on the blink, with frozen fruit, vegetables and smallgoods a common occurrence. Now with this new fridge, we've only had a couple of minor freezes of fruit - and that's only been when they're actually touching the back of the fridge - so we make sure the melons never touch the back/side of the fridge! Apples and citrus… Read more

fruits seem fine touching the sides of the fridge without freezing, I guess melons are a bit more temperamental.

Now we have cold jars in the fridge door, too - I like! The temperature control is GOOD through the whole fridge. And I like the quick cool option, too. Very useful if you've just put warm food in the fridge after making it. Or just done a big shop and you've had the door open for a while (and yes, it does beep at you after a while if the door stays open, but it's not a loud, horribly annoying beep).

It's SO easy to find things with that big back-light - no more dark spaces! Although first thing in the morning when you've just woken up it seems a bit too bright, ha ha. With its spacious interior, at least I can find things and nothing will go off now for lack of finding it.

This fridge IS a little noisy sometimes, but its pigeon pair freezer is also a little noisy, and compared to my old fridge, it's quiet as a mouse. I don't think you can ever get a super-quiet fridge, unfortunately...and that's a bit of a drawback if you ask me. I'm in the kitchen sometimes and hearing these strange little tick-tick sounds or gassy sounds...and it's emanating from the fridge...it's a bit eerie.

We have NO troubles opening the fridge (unlike what a lot of other people mention in their reviews). We also haven't put the handle on due to lack of space walking in front of the fridge (we don't want to bang our shoulder on it). I think it's easier to open without a handle. We can open it from the top or anywhere down the side. We tried it with a handle and without, and it opens more easily without the handle we feel. The handle looks great, but we just don't have the space for it. Also means our kids can't easily get into it!

My major gripe is that the vegetable drawer down the bottom is an absolute PAIN to open and close! You have to use two hands, and carefully, otherwise it just jams. I keep thinking I'm going to snap it or something. It feels like it should be more smooth, but it's just not. It's like there's a section of plastic permanently stuck there getting in the way - but there's not! The way they have designed it seems odd, with the ratchety top 'rail' catching far too easily.

This fridge would've got 4 stars if that veggie drawer wasn't such a nightmare to open. And 5 stars if it was quiet!

Love my fridge - when I can open it! – I purchased this fridge nearly 12 months ago and while I love the design and space the fact that the fridge won't open again straight away is a total nightmare. open the door. Fair enough. So I gave it a few more months to perform.

Now, much later and being at my wits end, I have researched this fridge and found that other customers have the exact same problem. I am so disappointed.

So,

to answer your questions

- it maintains temp if the door is shut properly

- yes, it's quiet;

- it is easy to clean, but I wouldn't say that it is any easier to clean than any other glass shelfed fridge (even though you seem to be claiming that it is sooooo easy to clean)

Westinghouse, you better fix this problem, for the sake of good customer service. I've been let down in the washing maching arena, and now the fridge (so far). I hope to hear from you soon.

Avoid this fridge – Looks nice, plenty of space, but try and open the door more than once...no chance. Just spent an enjoyable 40mins on the phone to Westinghouse describing the massive inconvenience of having a fridge with seals that are so strong, that after opening it once and closing the door, the fridge won't open again for 45-60secs. Had the safety switch not triggered, a fire would have erupted. My stubborn husband ignored my brother-in-laws' advice and mine to get rid of this old model on the basis of poor energy efficiency as he wanted to retain this as the "stinky" fridge which could store food with odours that did not appeal to him, like seafood. Well, it almost cost us our house. Off we went to Harvey Norman, wary that Westinghouse has closed its manufacturing doors in NSW to move to Thailand. We wanted a single door fridge only unit so that left limited choices. So despite my review on WRM4300WB last yr, we took the plunge on WRB5004SA with a 2 yr warranty as the other models appear to have equally flimsy hinged joints.
