Unprogramable and a waste of time – It looked really good in the box, I was interested because a friend had a Breville one. Unfortunately this does not live up to the quality and you can’t program the water it Dispensers. Someone at Westinghouse has decided that all the cup or mugs Are a set size. Which means you can use the infinite dispense, but you have to stand by the machine so waste time. Show details
Wouldn't buy another one – Have used this product for 3 years. As other reviewers have noted, the temperature that the machine produces is very inaccurate. 100 degree C setting puts out water at around 85 degrees C (measured with digital thermometer. The volume settings are also inaccurate, 300ml puts out about 250ml if it feels like it. This means you can't 'set and walk… Read more
away' to fill a cup so have to stand over it whilst it slooowly fills the cup. Once you press stop it keeps dripping for another 5-10 seconds. When this dies I'll buy a kettle with temperature adjustments, faster and less hassle.
Met overall needs, would be happier if temp accurate – Pros: * Quiet operation; * Uses less electricity than electric kettle; * Safer for kids & elderly to use; * Don't need to reboil excess water if only small amount needed; * Clear large touch-screen display; * Can dispense water & do other tasks; * Modern design; * Easy to cleaning & descale. Cons: * Wildly inaccurate temperature gauge -… Read more
can NEVER get boiling hot water. The 100°C selection only dispenses water to 84°C max; 85°C selection gets to 82°C; * Dispensing is slow - ok if making 1 or 2 cups but need patience if you have guests; * Any cup/ thermos / bottle taller than 18cm would not fit under dispenser; * Wide bowls / pots /containers wouldn't fit under dispenser due to curved in section. * Pre-set volumes are restrictive - 100ml, 200ml, 300ml, 400ml. There is a non-preset function but dispenser is slow, feels like watching paint dry.
Overall we're glad we bought the dispenser (with kids) but would only buy again if: 1. They made one that could dispense temperatures water 100°C - clearly no testing was done to ensure it's capability. 2. Water was dispensed faster - at least double the speed. 3. We can program preset volume to suit us or there was 50ml intervals, ie. 100ml, 150ml, 200ml, 250ml... etc.
Great Idea but Poor Quality Build!! – Well I was in the market for something that would product hot water for coffee/tea without the excessive noise of an electric kettle (In a combined kitchen/lounge/dining area). I did my research and came across the Westinghouse 2.7L Hot Water Dispenser. On face value it looked like it would do the job and also look great on a kitchen bench, not… Read more
taking up heaps of room. I purchased this from HN about 2-3 weeks ago. The first thing that I noticed was that there was no seal on the box that it came in. No big deal but when I took it out of the box, I suspected that it had been out of the box before. Tell tale signs like the cord looked like it had been re-wrapped and there were a number of marks on the stainless steel finish (If it is, in fact, Stainless steel?). The stainless steel looked like average quality at a push. The overflow grill had plastic wrapped over it, probably to protect it, but nonetheless, difficult to remove. The lid of the water container was the dreaded piano black, which, in my opinion, will start to show marks/scratches very soon. The digital display was easy to navigate, which really did surprise me as there are a number of flashing icons when you start it up. There is also a process that you need to do at the start so the machine is apparently claibrated - but I did find the instructions on this very easy to follow. I use it mainly to make coffee. If I press the coffee/tea button first, the water that it produces is just not hot enough. If I use the 100 degree for coffee it is far too hot. I'm sure that I will eventually find a happy medium. Overall, this machine does what it says it should but I'm not impressed with the finish considering the amount that I paid for it. I will keep it for the time being but keep looking for something more high end that may eventuate with advances in Technology. The fact that I believe it was both opened and taken out of the box, leads me to think that it was used to show customers at Harvey Norman - and that does not please me at all!!!
So much better than a noisy kettle – I purchased this machine after searching for a quiet kettle. This fits the bill! It holds 2.7litres. It can dispense as 100ml, 200ml, 300ml, 400ml and start/stop yourself depending on your cup size. It has a milk bottle function for warming bubs milk, as well as a coffee/tea button which is 92 degrees - perfect for my chai sachet teas. and also… Read more
100 degrees. There is a lock button which needs to be held in order for the buttons to become operational. It is quiet and instant - you can't ask for anything more. Oh, and it looks great on the bench.
Great Product. Never use conventional kettle again – Upgraded to the Westinghouse 2.7L Instant Hot Water Dispenser, after my previous one died. Been using it for a while now and am really happy with it. Easy to use and meets the majority of my needs and has a nice modern look. Pros: Cheaper and faster than using a conventional kettle, large water dispenser so I'm not having to top up all the… Read more
time, can adjust the amount of water and temperature required. Can run a continuous setting if want an amount other than the standard set. Cons: Need to unlock before can use it. But this is probably good feature if you have young children. Does not always seem to hold previous settings. Volume increments are 100, 200, 300 and 400. Would be good to have a 250 volume setting for the size of my cups. Water dispenser is at back of the unit, which makes refilling difficult. I tend to use a jug to top up rather than removing the water tank.
I like it but… – I love that it’s readily available but I can’t stop the base from leaking excess water! I have a bamboo bench top and there are stained water marks on the bench now. Show details
So much better than a kettle – We have a small house so every time the kettle was boiling the TV got turned up or the show put on pause. Not now we have this little machine. You can get up in the morning and instantly make your cuppa. Only negative I have is that it took MANY flushes to get rid of the plastic taste that others have also mentioned. Show details
Disappointed in this product – Currently I have a Kmart hot water dispenser, worth $69 but thought I would upgrade as I love the idea of this and the Westinghouse is a smarter looking machine - although $130 more expensive. After running over 5 litres of water through it, my coffee still had a metallic taste and was undrinkable. When pressing the stop button, it takes around 5… Read more
seconds for the water to actually stop (the kmart version stops instantly). Lastly the water does not come out in an even stream, it starts, dribbles, stops, starts again. It went back for a refund and I'll stick with my Kmart one. Overall, a waste of my time.
This is Perfect – Looks fantastic on kitchen bench, heats to boiling and up to 7 cups at a time, very quick and also quiet. Small and compact. Highly recommend this instant hot water dispenser especially over a kettle Show details
Hot water in seconds – Gives cup full of hot/lukewarm (as per settings you punch in) water in seconds. Easy to operate. Auto lock functionality. No electricity wastage of heating kettle full for a cup. Show details
Easy to use. Fast hot water. Time saver – I love this machine! Easy to use touch control panel. Saves time on refilling, and waiting for water to boil in old style kettle. Only heats the amount you want. Doesn't even drip! Looks good on the benchtop. Show details
Plastic taste and not hot enough – We bought 2. One for my 72yr old father, and one for us. Dads one nothing wrong with it. Works a treat. Ours makes the water taste like chemical plastic. Did everything, citric acid, vinegar, lemon juice...nothing worked. Took it back. Got a 3rd machine. Same plastic taste. Took it to my dads, used his water, same plastic taste. I don't know how a company can get it so right, yet so wrong. It also isn't hot enough for tea. Show details
Efficient kettle alternative. Perfect addition to any kitchen – I was needing something to replace my kettle. Similar to my kettle, this allows me to choose temperatures to heat water. I can't live without it now. No current disadvantages seen by myself. Advantages of this hot water dispenser (over kettles and other similar devices): (i) water reservoir is only ever cold water and can be tipped out and… Read more
washed and refilled quite easily (either at tap or with cups/jugs into top). Excellent for those with bad hands/muscles/aged. Light work. A great safety factor with no hot water left on the bench.
(ii) you only ever heat or dispense the amount you need. Less energy heat wastage and no leftover hot water. Ideal to save money by only using the power you need. It claims to be around 50% more efficient.
(iii) you have the option to fill containers/mugs/bowls/pots depending on the volume required. There is a small stand at the base which can be removed and I have filled up boiling water into saucepans, bowls, plastic measuring cups, mugs, cups and glasses. Most heights fit under and it is a huge help for instant hot water for cooking and when people unexpectedly pop by and would like warm water, coffees, teas, etc.
Volumes dispensed include 100ml, 200ml, 300ml, 400ml and continuous flow. The preset buttons switch the water off instantly after dispensing desired volumes, and the continuous flow can easily stop with the stop button. I have tested the volume with my measuring water jug. Quite accurate. I was not sure at first, as my mugs are all varied sizes.
(iv) a range of temperatures can be chosen, which is excellent. They include room temperature, 45oC, 55oC, 65oC, 75oC, 85oC, and 100oC.
(v) item fits in roughly the same space as a kettle.
(vi) sleek design with a very clear view of all digital numbers in white.
(vii) with measured numbers on the side the amount of water remaining can clearly be seen.
Overall, an extremely practical and easy to use unit. Well worth the money at around $200.
