We had this single door fridge for about a year we decided to get rid of it. The reason is: 1) Ice build at the back anything that touches the back freezes solid. 2) When you close the fridge it takes excessive strength to reopen the it for at least 5 minutes. (My wife cannot not reopen the door and I have difficulties) The fridge was very expensive I paid $925.--. Aldi was selling a simular fridge for $300.-- with a 5 year warranty (same cabinet size)
Follow-up · We altered the kitchen and replaced the Westinghouse fridge with a full size fridge. We reported the problem. They sent somebody to look at it but nothing could be done about it. We reported it a second time. They wanted to send somebody but to look at it. I refused it because I thought it would be a waste of time.
A digital thermostat - not the redesign I had hoped for! I have just received, 25th July, after a three week wait, my replacement refrigerator 2025. Again, failure of the thermostat. No serviceman was sent to check, but an immediate decision for replacement. The delivery men fitted the shelves and all is going well. My 2022 fridge WRM2400WE needed a new thermostat on 25th April 2024, within the two-year warranty period. Again, needing to be ordered, with a six-week delay. A new replacement fridge was offered as the thermostat was unavailable. On 9th May 2024 my new fridge WRM2400WF was delivered. I could not get the shelves into the fridge, as they were too large. The serviceman came the next day and forced the shelves into the fridge. It seemed to be unsatisfactory from arrival. It was a great disappointment that the problem digital thermostat, had not been resolved, it seems more time is needed. I have now had five of these fridges in 11 years.
Noisier than old version – This is the second purchase of this refrigerator for a holiday home. The first worked well after the following modification. After installing aluminium tubes purchased from Bunnings and securing them with cable ties food does not touch the rear panel and freeze. Our first fridge has been reliable and silent. The latest model WRM2400WE X makes a different sound when running. The previous model had a low level buzz which was no problem. The latest version gives off a low level pulsating sound which is less than optimal in an open plan setting
The technician sent by Westinghouse advised that a different ‘reciprocating’ compressor was fitted and that was more efficient. .
My preference would be for the original compressor.
Purchased in at Appliances Online for $800.
