Disappointed! Not built to last – Purchased this with our kitchen Reno December 2016 and installed in February 2017. I have never been over impressed with the oven. Heat has always escaped from the top seal of the oven door discolouring the panel above it. Also the poor sealing of the two glass panels on the oven door means that the space in between is constantly needing cleaning.… Read more

In the last few months the fan in the oven has started making a deafening, metallic, clanking sound when fan bake is used. To the point we cannot fan bake anymore. Add to that the fact that now whenever the oven is used there is an acrid burning smell that permeates the whole house and burns to a crisp anything in the oven, even on a tray.

The Westinghouse cooktop we also purchased at the same time has two ceramic rings that do not regulate and just go from 0 to Burn!

Unfortunately we are going to have to replace both because it would not be economical to have the parts replaced. I have been quoted $450 to replace the two rings on the cooktop.

Whatever happened to the Westinghouse of old? We had an upright electric cooker for years and years. Obviously obsolescence is built in now.

Very Poor Design Westinghouse need to go back to the drawing board – If you want to avoid a dud read this review in full, confirm what’s written by viewing this product before purchase. Oven glass doors, designed to be able to touch without burning yourself, the way they have designed this is 2 sheets of glass are separated held apart by a plastic frame (like double glazing) If you grill anything the stream/fat… Read more

rises up the void between the 2 sheets of glass making it become dirty very quickly. (I reiterate for clarity you can put your fingers up between the 2 sheets of glass, so this acts as a trap for rising steam/fat molecules and is positioned immediately above the grill opening) Our old oven use to steam up the front of the glass door, and had a sealed bottom, the new one hasn’t.

You have to remove the inner glass sheet to clean, this has to be done every couple of grills if you want your oven looking clean/new. Very expensive item if it breaks during cleaning.

The grill is next to useless, the side rails have been positioned very poorly if you use the top slide rail it’s too close to the elements (literally your food would get stuck to the element) if you use the next level down it’s to far from the elements and grilling takes a long time on this level to cook what your grilling. You can have half or full grill heat? If you close the grill door during grilling or while its still hot, the plastic door surrounds melts. The wire shelves are extremely thin about half the thickness to my previous model, the side slide rails only have 1 side wall anchor point which makes the side rails flimsy / loose. My older oven had 2 anchor points. Supplied with the oven is:

• A tin plate tray (biscuit tray)

• 2 wire shelves (one slung shelf and 1 straight shelf). Advised by Customer services you have to alternative the straight wire shelf between oven and grill. • A brown enamel rectangular tray with a wire insert. No actual dedicated grill pan.

The oven wire shelves have no stops on them, they slide all the way back to hit and back enamel wall which will over time chip the enamel baffle. The whole shelving arrangement has been designed extremely badly. Both wire shelves have a declined surface so both back and front of the shelves are sloped inwards, this makes it very hard to remove hot baking trays / pots as you have to lift the tray/pot to remove from the shelf you can't slide it off or the shelf would come with it..

I would consider this a serious health and safety issue doesn’t the government have to approval products sold in Australia for public safety?

Extremely disappointing purchase. Will avoid Westinghouse product in the future.

Faulty fan – Like so many other reviews here it seems that these westinghouse ovens are known for there faulty fans, wish i would of read about the reviews earlier. I have contacted electrolux via email and have had a case number but no one has responded yet and have just spent 50 minutes waiting on hold for help. I appreciate that we are going through tough times due to covid but as it stands our oven is rendered useless  Show details

Bad product – We have had this oven for less than a year. Today my wife was using the grill to prepare lunch. All of a sudden we have a small explosion and the oven glass door shattered everywhere. Do not buy this oven!! – This oven is definitely one to avoid as it has several design/manufacturing faults. I’ve had the oven for 14 months and in that time it’s had the following problems: 1. NOISY FAN - intermittent problem that sounds like the fan blades are scraping against something. 2. GRILL DOOR HINGES - occasionally when operating the grill door the door it… Read more

has completely detached from one the hinges. It’s dangerous and the food in the grill burns because it requires two people to re-attach the door to the hinge.

3. GRILL DOOR TOP TRIM - this is unbelievably made from plastic and it has completely melted. It is used to secure the glass panel to the grill door and without it there is nothing holding the glass in place and the door cannot be used.

This oven has very clearly been constructed using the cheapest possible materials and I simply cannot understand how it could possibly pass a quality control test.

I should mention the oven does cook food as it should however I simply could not recommend it to anyone.

Considering it will cost well over $300 to repair/replace the faulty parts listed above, I would strongly urge potential buyers to save yourself the headaches and don’t waste your money on this one.

Top door plastic melted – My daughter turned on the oven and unintentionally turned the grill as well (obviously with the door closed). Grill door top plastic had melted in the matter of minutes, activating smoke alarm and almost kitchen cabinets went into the flames. I’m wandering how is legally possible to sell this product without safety feature installed for the grill. It would be simple to install a safety device for grill not to operate unless the door is open. Show details

Faulty fan – I have had this oven for 3 years. I rarely cook with the oven as I am single Person household. I used it only once in the first year and then on average maybe once per month after that. problem is without even looking at the oven and once he has the new fan will come to replace. To me it sounds like a known issue and for an oven that has had barely any use is extremely poor. It is now going to cost me close to $200 to fix with the fan cost approx. $20. No I would not recommend this oven to anyone. I can only imagine the issues a heavy use customer would face.

Simple and easy to use unlike complicated ovens – This is what an oven should be like - simple. It has virtually no options and no ridiculous digital prompts that only a few gifted persons can work out. This oven frees up time for facebook, texting and reality tv shows. Unfortunately, it is useless for yuppies as it has no bragging rights over morning coffee. Too cheap to warrant mention. Show details

Best ever, beat euro ovens – When we went shopping for a new wall oven a few years ago we dicovered all the expensive so called upmarket wall ovens were smaller than the Westinghouse brand, we bought it and have been very happy with it for maybe 4 years now, it's not just an oven with a separate grill but two capable ovens in one, there are many cooking settings and the clock… Read more

is magic as it can be adjusted forward or backwards at the same speed (the longer you press the + or - the faster it goes. It has pyrotechnic self cleaning sides and back in the main oven (optional) and many lights inside which are easy to pop open to replace blown lamps. The doors are double glazed and the main door at least lifts out and comes apart easily to clean, haven't looked at the bottom door for that as it is still perfectly clean but it should come apart as well.

Can't remember the exact time we bought it but must be about 4 years ago

Old habits die hard – I bought this to replace my old chef and it fitted perfectly. Overall, it was better looking and out performed the chef and the half grill function is especially useful. some ways. I can live without the second oven bit but within a couple of weeks, even though it's clearly stated not to on the door and I'd read the instructions, I absent-mindedly closed the door. Luckily the house smoke detector went off and when I opened the grill door, the top plastic panel had melted all over the glass pane so I had to replace both, I ended up ordering through a third party as I couldn't get through to Electrolux. I deliberately didn't post a review at the time as I wanted it to be objective but since then I often wondered why would they install a door which they know is downright dangerous. Considering the oven door looks similar and doesn't melt and the old chef door worked, it's not as if they're without options.

Dear Electrolux. writing on the inside of a grill door to 'leave door open while grilling' is acceptable if it affects cooking performance but totally unacceptable if it's there to prevent danger. Nowhere does it state 'warning'

I'd go so far to say I believe this oven contravenes Australian Standards and is therefor illegal.

EDIT: Product review quite rightly asked that I give Electrolux / Westinghouse a chance to reply before I post and I did just that. The reply offered nothing at all apart from that if I want to discuss it I can contact them directly. There was absolutely no concern shown by them. Could you imagine a small business, say a builder or electrician acting with such contempt when it was explained that the oven is dangerous? They'd lose their license!

Good budget oven – We bought this WVE665S from The Good Guys last year when we moved into our new place. My wife is good at baking cake so we thought it was a good idea to buy a new one. the door of this oven was still cool when the food is being cooked. Sometimes it is hard to clean as the rubber on the door frame get dirty after heavy cook. Oven (WVE665S) Faults found already – We are not happy with our oven purchase after using it for only about a month. It seems that things don't cook properly when baking (take a lot longer & needs to be turned right up) unless you use the Fan or Rapid Heat functions. But when you use the fan it blows hot air out the top of the oven door & heats up the touch screen control panel to a point where it is too hot to touch (to adjust the timer, etc).
