OK until it isn't – I loved my dryer T8827 from Miele but after 10 years service I turned it on and there was no response it did not trip my RCD switch it just did not light up. Contacted Miele store where I bought it and they said "maybe the fuses are blown". So engaged an electrician He couldn't find the fuses. Contacted Miele they didn't know where fuses were. … Read more
Sent a diagram with some parts and numbers I asked where fuses were they said they don't supply information on what the numbers relate to. So finally after LOTS of customer service emails had the advice that this model does not have fuses. SO as to what has happened no one knows. I have this $2200 odd dryer that was working perfectly and suddenly not What do I do Miele do not want to know about it Following on from my washer which died after 8 years Miele advertising that they last at least 20 is just hurtful. I at present never want to buy Miele again BUT I loved my dryer however cannot afford to loose $2k again if I purchase and it dies The customer service is horrendously bad. I live in remote rural town and cannot get a Miele service man Outcome 1. bill from electrical who could not find fuses as my purchase store told me 2. finally after 3 days told no fuses. 3. dryer sitting there not working 4?? what do I do now just ditch it Really cheesed off!!
Has never worked properly - does not dry! – I have had so many issues with this machine - the latest is a string of things that need fixing, all one after the other costing me over $1000 and the machine is still not drying clothes, I have never had water in the tank. The biggest waste of time and money and always serviced by an authorised repairer. The experience dealing with Miele customer… Read more
support has also been terrible. They take nearly an hour to answer the phone and weeks to answer emails. Really disappointing for such a premium brand.

Simply doesn't dry clothes! – This was just about the most expensive dryer on the market when we bought it, but sadly it just doesn't work very well. We bought it to replace an excellent conventional Miele dryer that we had used for many (many!) years until it finally broke down - that good experience lead us to buy another Miele, this time the 8827WP intended to "save… Read more
energy".
Unfortunately the new dryer simply doesn't dry anything! We only use it occasionally, mostly we dry on a line in the garden, but when we do use it it takes all day. For example, today we washed a load of towels, well within the 8kg rating of the machine and spun to the limits of the matching Miele washing machine. Before putting them in the dryer I cleaned all the filters and lint traps and emptied the water tank. I selected the relevant program ("cotton") and set the machine to "extra dry". It started up, and the "Perfect Dry" system calculated that it need 2 hours and 6 minutes to dry the towels. That's a long time! But...... when the machine completed the cycle and I opened the front, I found a pile of hot and damp (steam was coming off them as I pulled them out) towels. The water tank has water in it, so the machine is doing "something", but there is no way that these towels are even close to being dry. I started the same program again on these supposedly "dry" towels, and the "perfect dry" system calculated they now required 2 hours and 9 minutes to dry........
This machine has never worked satisfactorily, no matter what we have done with it. It looks great, is very solidly built and is easy to use, but it simply doesn't dry laundry! We've had it for several years, and I'm now posting this review because today we have finally decided to take it to the tip and replace it with something that actually works! I'm guessing it won't be a Miele!

Does not dry properly – I purchased the T8627 clothes dryer in 2010 and have owned it since then. Totally frustrated with this dryer. It does not dry the clothes or towels properly. It continually stops and the message reads Adjust the Load. Really! That is not the case. It has recently had a new thermostat fitted and its still doesn't dry the clothes properly. I… Read more
bought a second hand cheap Simpson dryer several years ago and again during the last few days of torrential rain, it works beautifully. The Simpson runs rings around the Miele dryer. Sadly I am very disappointed with this dryer. Why can't Miele make a dryer that has a personalised option: eg pick your desired heat setting, pick your time, and let the machine actually dry the clothes.

My first bad Miele experience – When I bought this dryer in April of 2010 it was the most expensive clothes dryer on the market. However, I bought it with the expectation that it would last 10 years+ and therefore pay for itself in terms of reduced energy cost. Unfortunately my experience matches that of a previous reviewer. After 7yrs 8 mths of use it developed a terrible,… Read more
metallic grinding sound on startup and became very noisy while running. The Miele technician charged me $179, told me that it would cost around $1,400 to fix and that I would be better off buying a new one as the compressor will probably go next, and that's another $1,000+ to fix.
I spoke with Miele. The equivalent dryer in the current range is $3,900 plus another $250 for the stacking kit with shelf. They 'generously' offered me a $700 discount and would refund the $179 I paid for the service call.
Why on earth would anyone pay $3,450 ($3,900 + $250 - $700) to purchase a dryer that will most likely fall apart after only 7 years of use? It just doesn't make sense.
Excellent product - no faults! – We purchased the T8827WP in 2013 along with a matching Miele washer and have never had a single problem with either product since. Appreciate that Miele white ware is more expensive but our experience is that they are quality products and last a lot longer than many of their counterparts. We use both items daily & would have no hesitation in… Read more
recommending to others. The filters need cleaning regularly especially the door ones but this is very easy to do & as a result it is rare that the 'clean filters' red light comes on. Spares can be purchased online for several reputable spare part suppliers. We whip the foam lint filter out once a week or so, and replace with a spare - wash & shake the prev filter and leave to dry off completely for reuse next time. We have found the heat pump model far more economical than a condenser model dryer. Overall very satisfied.

Avoid this Dryer – Bought this dryer about 4 years ago. No problems with it until about 6 months ago. Have just booked my third service call in six months and problem still not fixed even after spending around $1,000 in repair costs (I did not buy the extended warranty - big mistake). Very disappointing as we have a Miele washer and full Miele kitchen including… Read more
built in coffee machine, and all these products have been flawless and very satisfying.
Sales person said we could expect this dryer to last 15 plus years but I doubt it. We have been using our 10 yr old Fisher and Paykel dryer in its place (this costed less than $300 and has been trouble free as opposed to $3k plus service costs for the Miele ).
Look at other dryer models and if you must purchase this, make sure you get the extended warranty otherwise it will cost you dearly. Worked well initially. Matched our Miele washer Expensive servicing costs, expensive parts and still not fixed!
Update: dryer needs to be repaired again. Terrible metallic grinding noise when switched on. So over this machine
Excellent piece of machinery – Absolutely fantastic. First time drier owner and with the arrival of our first child cannot live without the drier on rainy days. It complements our miele washing machine and condenser water drains directly in to a sink to minimise hassle of draining condenser water. Would recommend miele technicians install as it is heavy and expensive piece of… Read more
kit. Exceptional and getting clothes dry including delicate fabrics and large loads Expensive but worth it.
Very Disappointing – Please beware if you are considering a Miele heat pump dryer. I brought a T 8827 WP recently. Despite what any sales people, user reviews or many Miele staff will tell you the heat pump dryers have NO adjustable heat control AND they dry clothes at a much hotter temperature than the normal condenser models. Today I had this confirmed by Miele… Read more
themselves after they checked with their technical department. On their normal condenser dryers "low temperature" can be selected - not the case with the heat pump. Selecting programs of "Wool" "Silk" or "Delicate" makes no difference to the temperature inside the drum - which is VERY hot. I have serious doubts about the longevity of our clothes and linen when being dried at these extra hot temperatures.
I had really looked forward to owning a Miele laundry set and have been left very disappointed. I was hoping that it could be used to dry fabrics not normally considered suitable to tumble dry. Personally, I would not even trust it with 'approved' delicate fabrics. I researched extensively about what laundry units to buy but was mislead by both Miele staff and the sales people in the Kitchen Things - Mt Wellington store who assumed it was sophisticated enough to lower the drying temperature depending on the program or fabric type but didn't actually understand how it worked.
The residual heat emitted from the drier into the room is also immense, don't even think about installing it in a cupboard. Build Quality, energy efficiency No temperature reduction for delicates, dries at higher temperatures than non heat pump models, high levels of residual heat released to the room
I have spoken to Miele extensively already. It was a call to the Australian call center who… Read more (+9 replies)
Expensive and hopeless – This dryer has never functioned well and has been the subject of several service calls. Fortunately we got a five year extended warranty. The dryer is being replaced under warranty but we have waited 5 weeks for the replacement. Miele after sales service has been awful. I think we'll not buy Miele again. nothing everything, particularly high energy use
Excellent – This dryer is fantastic! It uses heat pump (reverse cycle air-conditioning) technology rather than a conventional heater element which gives it a 6 star energy efficiency rating! I purchased a tumble dryer because I normally dry everything on a drying rack indoors as I hate clothes being faded by sunlight or getting dirty from birds/insects. … Read more
However, this is very difficult in winter - especially when trying to dry large items like sheets, towels and incidentals eg. pillows, duvets, mattress protectors.
I considered other Miele tumble dryers:
T7744C - signicantly cheaper @ $1,999 (less $300 discount);
T8423 - matches my W3725 washing machine and is also significantly cheaper @ $2,099 (less $300 discount).
I also considered:
Asko T783C
Bosch WTE86301AU Maxx 8
Electolux EDH97950W (This is also an energy efficient heat pump model)
I chose a Miele tumble dryer because:
Miele usually have a good reputation for quality/longevity and being gentle on laundry; and
It was able to match my Miele washing machine easily with a stacking kit.
I chose this model because it uses significantly less energy than other tumble dryers. With consideration for the environment and rising energy prices, I felt this model was an appropriate choice.
It makes drying all of my clothes, sheets, towels, feather/down pillows & duvets so easy and economical (after paying for the machine itself).
I now dry almost everything in it without hesitation including delicate woollen garments - only things I don't dry in it are some of my underwear - CK elastic shrinks but Bonds are fine!
It's made little difference to my electricity bill (previously didn't use a tumble dryer) even though I use it nearly every day.
I've been really happy with this dryer since I bought it - wish I could say the same for the W3725 washing machine. Dries clothes gently.
Offers many useful programs with options which are easy to select.
Large display screen with time to finish and delay start options.
Uses very little electricity so I don't feel guilty using it.
Removes 100% of lint and pet hair that isn't removed from washing.
Water from condensor can be plumbed to the drain or collected in a reservoir - I collect it and use it to water pot plants.
Laundry room and rest of house remain dry - almost zero ambient moisture while operating! Price - @ $3,199 it isn't cheap! I bought it shortly after buying a Miele washing machine so I received a $500 discount - paid $2,699 - makes it more affordable. But I hope it lasts a long time!
Stacking kit is expensive @ $299.
Multiple lint trap filters are a pain to clean - I wipe out with fingers after each use and vacuum them at least once per week.
Dryer and stacking kit rattle awfully when washing machine is spinning - but this is more a problem associated with the washing machine so read my review of W3725 washing machine!
good dryer when it worked, but nowhere near the standard of the bosch logixx condenser dryer – Had one of these for a year. had 2 issues during the year, both to do with the condensor. somehow its wasnt working and the room was steaming up and drying was taking forever. Appliance guy told us to change to the new Bosch condenser dryer which we did. Bosch dries much heavier loads in half the time, uses less energy while drying (6 star… Read more
compared to 4 star) and was around the same price.
The bosch also has plenty of "smart" features to stop the drying at preset moisture levels so it doesnt just keep drying. No condensation issues at all, and doesnt heat up the whole room like the Miele did, so you know the energy isnt being wasted.
All up, the Bosch is a significantly better product from a better brand for the same price. hmm comparitavely inefficent and unrealiable
We have this dryer in a very small room and have absolutely no problems with the room steaming up.… Read more
Incredibly efficient, gentle, quiet, does an awesome job – We wanted a heat-pump dryer for ages before this one became available in Australia. I'm a sad case greenie, and I'd read about their energy efficiency, but for the longest time they were only being sold in Europe. We even considered buying one from the UK and having it shipped here, but the cost of shipping was too much. We settled for… Read more · 1
harassing the local Miele people, but were told they had no intention of importing these dryers. We sent the occasional email enquiry every few months, and eventually got a reply saying that they were bringing them in. We ordered one on the spot.
Our reason for buying one was that we were living in a flat, and had nowhere outside to hang clothes. Using our old dryer 2-3 times per week was wasting ridiculous amounts of energy, and filling our laundry with steam.
This dryer uses a heat pump, so rather than just heating your clothes up and blowing air through them, it uses a refrigerator technique to dehumidify the air it blows across the clothes. This means that the clothes get nowhere near as hot, and the dryer uses literally half the power of conventional vented or condenser dryers.
So now we've had it for three years. In that time it's run reliably and faithfully, drying absolutely everything I could throw at it without damage, and making a sizeable dent on our electricity bill. I even use it to dry doonas and shoes.
It's wonderfully quiet. When we first bought it we hadn't yet reorganised our laundry, so it sat in the living room for a couple of weeks. You put a load of washing in, it hums for a while, and then you pull the washing out and put it away. No steam, no stuffed clothes.
My husband's quote to his workmates when they asked questions about our new uber dryer: I dunno exactly how it works, but apparently a dolphin is born each time we use it.
Anyway, I'm just on the net looking for some replacement filters, came across this, and thought I'd chuck my 2c in. I'd buy exactly the same dryer again in a heartbeat. Best appliance I've ever bought, period. Absolutely incredibly energy efficient. Like half the power of a conventional dryer. Doesn't heat the clothes up nearly as much as a conventional dryer. Wonderfully reliable, quiet. Expensive compared to a normal dryer, but well worth it for the lack of wear and tear on clothes and much lower power bills.
Excellent – Wow. If you do 50 loads a week you'll recover the cost in energy savings pretty quick. But for us normal users with a couple of kids, doing about 10 loads a week, you wont feel guilty using this instead of the clothes line. Cost benefit probably doesn't stand up though. VERY, VERY Quiet machine. Water outlet can be hooked over the sink similar to… Read more
a washing machine drain hose, or connected to a drain. If you don't use the drain hose yo need to empty the internal water container after each load, but this is easy. Uses very little energy, and does not vent moist air into the room, so no external ventilation is required. Did I mention it is quiet? You just hear the noise of the internal compressor, similar to a refrigerator hum, plus the internal fan. The most you will notice is the buttons on your clothes tapping the internal drum as they float around. The filters catch heaps of dust, lint, hair etc (also a slight disadvantage in some ways due to the need to clean the filters often). But clothes come out spotless without any fluff, so I'm more than happy to live with this one. Length of drying time varies depending on load and dampness, so it will reduce the time as it progresses if the load dries quicker than a full cycle requires. Big price - $3199 (less a few hundred if Miele are offering rebates), but don't bother shopping around, the price is set by Miele and is the same at all agents. The stacking kit is outrageously expensive at $299. Also, due to the fact that the filters are so efficient, they catch heaps of dust, lint, hair etc and must be cleaned often.
