Having been using since 2014, still going strong in 2023 – I mow roughly 150sqm of lawn between 12 and 24 times a year (Brisbane). The height adjustment lever broke about 2 years ago, so I've only been using it on the highest cutting height. Show details

Ozito – I've brought two in the last two years. They break down. The belt broke on the first one. And I think the wiring for the second one might be a problem. I can't seem to start it despite taking it apart and checking it. It runs well when it does run, but mine last a year and then nothing.  Show details

Powerful Electric Mower – I only have a medium sized yard, about 300sqm and the nature strip. My old petrol mower gave up at the same time my arm/shoulder gave up. I checked out the electric start mower available, but thought, why not fully electric. The Ozito brand seemed pretty popular, sold through Bunnings so I will be backed by a big company, and was priced very… Read more

keenly. I was just about to pull the trigger, when a friend of mine offered hers for sale, as she was moving to an apartment. That was a few years ago. This mower from Ozito, although now almost a decade old, has never missed a beat. My friend's lawn was even smaller than mine, and so my example has had a relatively easy life. Nonetheless, this mower will probably outlast me! It has the power to cut long grass and even wet grass (half width of mower), and make little noise and no smoke. FANTASTIC. The mower is light, and extremely easy to push/pull along, being half the weight of my old 4 stroker. Made completely out of plastic, except the handle, this baby has lasted me. Only one gripe though, which is having to move the power cord out of the way. I get a light workout now.

Cheap - Undersigned Products Dumped in Australia – OZITO ELM 1400 Electric Lawn Mower : The mower is driven by an electric motor through a belt drive to the cutting blade shaft. There are double safety features to protect the electric motor from over loading. 1. The main switch and the 2. Cutoff switch. Just after using sparingly for 2 years (about 10 to 15 times for a total of 30 to 50 hours) … Read more

it started cutting off the motor instead of running. I have contacted the Ozito Customer care, who advised that their products are designed for DIY only “Ozito products are intended for DIY (Do It Yourself) use only. Unfortunately we don’t have any registered repairers .”

Finding no other way I have open up and identified the cut-off switch and diagnosed that the electric motor coils are damaged. It failed to pick up the load and shortened as soon as switched on. After repeated trial testing it started smoking – registering the end of the Coils/Motor life.

My assessment is that the Motor is under designed for the blade and the cutting loads?

I tried to replace the motor but the Ozito Customer care advised that they do not stock the Electric Motor of ELM 1400 as spare parts. According to Ozito customer care, the price of spare motor would negate any repair rather they advised me to threw it away and purchase a new one possibly at the same or equivalent price of a spare motor.

I wonder if that violate the Australian consumer law?

The dilemma is shall I purchased another Ozito for another 2 years and throw it away after the expiry of the warranty period or buy a better quality product at higher price.

Few things to consider:

Purchasing and throwing away a cheap and bad quality product: Will increase environmental pollution and junk to be processed by Australian authorities and also increase the balance of payment for Australian Economy.

Hence I leave it to the reader to make their choice of Ozito or other cheap product to buy or not to buy.

Excellent mower for small lawns – Pros: - Cuts grass as well as the old petrol mower - No maintenance required (i.e. no fuel filters to clean, spark plugs to replace, etc). Just plug it in and you're good to go. - Lighter than the old mower. The body of this mower is plastic. - Cheaper to buy than a petrol mower Cons: - Requires cord management - Not suitable for large… Read more

lawns with obstacles

This is a good mower, perfect for small lawns. It does a brilliant job on our nature strip. We mow with the cord trailing behind us and for that particular lawn we can virtually forget about the cord.

For larger, complicated lawns this mower is probably not suitable. We made the mistake of buying this mower for our large backyard filled with obstacles (clothes line, veggy patches, the odd tree) and ended up having the cord constantly get stuck around things, which turned out to be a bigger hassle than we bargained for. If you have a big lawn with various obstacles, e.g. veggy patches, I would recommend a non corded mower instead - the $300 we saved buying this over a petrol mower wasn't worth the extra hassle of endless cord frustration.

Excellent mower for the price – Bought Ozito EcoMow 1400W model as I wanted an electric mower without the hassle of petrol and oil handling and something to be quiet. Also didn’t want to be burdened by dying battery in the middle of a mowing job. This mower fulfilled all my requirements and mowed my 80sqm lawn and nature strip without any issues. With several height settings… Read more

through a single leaver makes life much easier. My lawn looks much much neater now. It’s something you must get used to is handling of the power cord and that’s something comes up with all corded power tools.

Wish it had a little larger catcher as I had to empty it few times. Other than that unit functions exactly as it’s designed to function. Handle seems too thin and feels like tends to bend a bit if mower drops in to a flowerbed over the garden edging. Also it has an overload protection automatic cut off function where if mower gets stuck at uneven area (like in our front nature strip), it stops and stays stopped for approximately 2 minutes.

Bought it for 149$.

Comes with 3 year warranty.

I’m very happy with the product functionality for the price.

Good for several years, but now failed – Upgraded from the 320mm model, this was a more powerful, wider and quicker model. While the smaller model's motor system is pretty much bullet proof, the 1400 has a belt drive and a brush-type motor. However the failure was neither of the latter, rather an unrepairable motor bearing, a sad end to a good worker, not quite as powerful as a petrol… Read more

mower of course. Disassembly revealed much grass accumulation internally, but no apparent adverse effect. Several missing chunks of plastic caused by stones, and flexing of the (plastic) body causing blade-skirt contact when mower is bumped firmly. Even so, mower functioned ok. Unlike the smaller model, catcher is a reasonable size and much easier to remove/install. The spring loaded flap was annoying so I made an arm to hold it open while emptying catcher.

Cheap but lasted 'only' five years – Despite having to constantly worrying about the electric cable getting under the mower and shocking me, and the plastic look of it, the mower is very easy to use and very light. Faithfully lasted me five years but the motor gave up today and blew midway through the work (smells burnt). As others pointed out when the catcher becomes full, the… Read more

grass would fall from under the machine. In a session I see myself emptying the catcher 3-4 times for a 150 sq/m lawn.

Good for the price – Good over a small area. Plastic wheel bushings have failed. Not sure where to get help in NZ as Bunnings here doed not carry as large a stock as in OZ. Although the motor and frame is still good, it does not work well at all. Where will I get parts? Show details

Ok for the price – The mower cuts alright and is easy to maneuver, however it gets stuck and turns off quite easily. It is simple to operate and maintain. Best suited to smaller yards as it has a small capacity, it should also be noted that the cable is tiny so a long extension cable is mandatory.  Show details

Bad – Mower starts up a few times after purchasing it, but fails to start consistently after that, sent it to bunning's for repair and after that fails to start as well, just problems after problems. and the wheel is plastic as well, so wears out quickly as well. Overall thrash tbh.  Show details

Good Solid machine – It's good electrical but then you have to worry about having wire dangling around. I've accidentally ran over the wire. But that machine is good as anything. Adjustable 6 diff heights which allows you to choose your own height. Machine is very light. Only downside is the handle after a while it becomes lose!!  Show details

Good performer and easy to fix – I replaced the belt of my Ecomower 1400 recently. The motor was spinning but the blade was not indicating that the belt had slipped. The belt had stretched and there was a cut in the belt that showed it needed to be replaced. Since it was out of warranty I decided to replace the belt by myself. replace a belt in similar types of electric mower that are easy to follow. I ordered the belt through Bunnings and was having difficulty fitting it. I took it to Bunnings and the person at the special orders desk showed me how to adjust the distance between the motor and the blades by loosening 4 screws. Now the mower is good as new and I am happy that it is cheap to maintain with parts readily available and the product support offered from Bunnings.

Light weight efficient and quiet – For $ 149.00 I purchased this unit on recommendation from my friend in Brisbane. After several uses I do appreciate the efficiency of this unit. Very handy mower – Bought this unit used, out of warranty but in very good condition. For a small level block it's ideal. Once cut, easy to keep grass under control if you don't let it become too thick. Light and easy to use, only have to empty good capacity catcher twice, now have a new compost pile. Only minor issue is teeth on the handle height adjustment don't… Read more

Cheap and cheerful does the job – For such a cheap lawn mower, I was originally hesitant but with 3 years warranty and if you average it out only costs you $50/yr it was bargain. Decent for a $150 lawnmower – I was skeptical on the $149 price tag but 3 months in and this mower gives a surprisingly good cut. My lawn is approx. 3x5m and it cuts no problems. The catcher is decent sized although a pain to assemble the first time. Mower itself is lightweight and easy to clean. User friendly – The mower cuts well and is easy to handle, however if the grass is a little too long it gets stuck underneath and I need to manually scoop the cuttings out. It is best suited to thin, short grass and not thick, long grass. I find it easy to maneuver and is very light weight.  Show details

Exceeded expectations – Bought this for my husband who was reluctant to use an electric mower- after giving it a try he loves it! We have a small yard out back and front and it does the job perfectly. Sometimes the cord is an inconvenience but would prefer that than petrol or battery. Exceeded our expectations for a cheap little mower!  Show details

Not a bad unit for a small area – Now, I wouldn't want to mow a quarter acre block with this unit, but for a small yard, or small amount of grass, this does a more than adequate job. I bought this at Bunnings for less than $200, which is a bargain in anyones language. So much easier and cleaner than a petrol mower. Seriously easy to use.  Show details

functional electric lawnmower – Why would you want an electric lawnmower? Many reasons. They're lighter, quieter, less polluting, and there's less to go wrong. This ozito is a good example of a working electric mower, because it has a serious 1400w motor plugged into a power point. Do not buy underpowered battery powered lawnmowers that would be lucky to give you a haircut… Read more

before running out of juice. This plug in one is the way to go. My only complaint is why limit it to 1400w? It's a power tool, and should use the full 2400w available to it from the power point. Apart from that, it does a good job, plastic catcher is a little cheap but gets the job done. In my opinion having used this mower over the past year, it is suitable for mowing lawns of up to 500m2 in size.

Easy to start, clippings end up back on lawn instead of catcher – Pros: Mower is really easy to start Really easy to use, pushes well Cons: Expensive batteries, battery life not great. Light And Easy To Use – This is great to use. Its built light and extremely easy to maneuver. It will choke with long grass so you need to keep up regular lawn maintenance. Very good for the price – The mower does its job. It has been with me for four years now. It is a great mower for personal use, I am not sure what it does for a professional job. Pretty cheap. Easy to operate. The rubbish collector attached to the back comes in two pieces that needs to be fixed together(part of DIY), so that doesn't stay long together. This is the only thing that should have been better definitely. Maintenance is almost none. Safe to use.

Ozito 1400w 190mm electric edger – The edger is more plastic then anything else. Its fragile as the plastic parts warp and twist. Bunnings sell them but don't stock replacement blades.
