Toyota HiAce Questions & Answers
Verifiedpower cutting out while driving..can't keep a steady speed..at around 80km nothing happens when I accelerate and then motor works really hard to pick up speed, but on the slightest ruse in the Rd it drops back...have changed air and fuel filter, spark plugs are good, good pressure on fuel pump fuel line hose replaced..mechanic says he doesn't know why or where to go from here. :( just had new manifold and radiator system put in...any help appreciated
Get yourself an ODBII analyser (about $20 on ebay) and see what the engine has to say - saves a lot of guesswork
I have a slow leak in the radiator recovery tank in my 2000 Toyota hiace van and have a replacement on order. I have had a look at how to remove the old one. It’s shaped to fit around the radiator fan cowl and while the mounting screws are able to be removed I can’t work out how to get it out of its position and the new one back in. Can it be removed without pulling out the radiator? Is there a trick I’m missing?

I'm looking for front seat covers for my 2004 Hiace LWB. I'm thinking neoprene but all the sites seem to say they're compatible with 2005-2019. Does anyone know if there is a massive difference that would cause them not to fit my seats properly?
Thanks in advance for any help.
Hi I have a 1996 Toyota Hiace van.( Super Custom) I removed the rear seat, and now reinstalling it, but don't know where the 2 wires connect to move the seat back and forward. The wires are connected at the front, but where does the other end connect. Any ideas would be great
I have a toyota hiace 2003. I’m currently having some overheating problems…It’s a diesel engine with roughly 270.000km now. I have the van for about 4 months now (bought it beginning of september 24). Unfortunately, the temperature gauge needle doesn’t work. I was driving through the outback a couple days ago. I went 100 km/h for about 4 hours with 45° outside temperature. My partner was sitting in the passenger seat and she said, she started to smell like some burned plastic and then she felt really hot air coming up from the door area. We pulled over and as soon as we stopped, we heard some boiling noises and some coolent leaked out from the overflow tank. We let it cool down, refilled water and some coolent concentrate. It runs, but I‘m scared there’s a problem with the coolent system or worse. We’re continuing driving, cause we’re on a road trip, so we have to. But we try to drive in the afternoons and just with 70-80km/h. Did anyone had similar problems? Or does anyone can help me/ give me some hints or tips? Or u reckon it was caused by the hot weather outside? cheers guys:)
Not a fan of the diesels myself (not just Toyota) as they seem harder to service; common problems like EGR valves blocking and such. But if the obvious things are checked there is no reason they won't be reliable. Your problem sounds like something directly related to the cooling; possibly a stuck thermostat. If you run it until it warms up the thermostat should open (you often see the temp guage dip at this point - but yours doesnt work which is another clue). The hot weather is not the direct cause; just doesnt help. Get it serviced if you don't know how to diagnose it yourself; the cooling system is simple and fixable, but pretty important to the engine's health.
Hi I’m looking at buying a 2015 Toyota hiace extra long wheel base van it has 330000 km it has been serviced every 10000 km it’s petrol.. I want advice is this a good buy or don’t take the risk ???
There is no reason it can't be a good buy - these things are used commercially so always have high kms (assuming that is a concern). Mine is a 2009 and had 400,000kms when I got it and was running on 3 cylinders as the tradie didn't like to do maintenance, but after some minor service its running like a new spec van and will likely do another 400,000. The regular checkups on yours are a good sign. That said, its still a mechanism, and you should get it checked out for confidence if you aren't pretty sure yourself. Check for rust under the mats near the tailgate, and the general condition around doors and footwells to get an idea of how its been used. The walls in the back are always guaranteed to be scratched and dented, that will be "normal".
I also have as late , current 2022 Hi Ace crew van and have been told by Toyota the tyres need replacing at 20,000 km at my expense. I also have a 2013 van which has done 70,000 + kms on its tyres, so there must be a Design fault. I have complained to Toyota, but to date with no outcome. Have others experienced Toyota refusing to sort out this problem ?
I'd be seriously asking questions of tyres that needed replacing on a utility vehicle after 20,000. But tyres are a consumable, so perhaps you should be posting the brand of tyre (and complaining to the tyre manufacturer)?
Thanks Richard .. the tyres are the ones fitted by Toyota, the original tyres, so I think the very low milage achieved is still a question for Toyota. From what I gather the problem is a known issue , with all the latest shaped vans.

The only way is by removing the dashboard and u will see the wiper arm in front over the heater assembly
