Just tried these for the first time in a few years. What on earth have they done. Sickly sweet and cheap tasting. Truly disgusting and tragically sad. Show details

the hazelnut praline, it doesnt quite melt smoothly, and I like that. I dont buy these nowadays because I didnt like paying so much for so little chocolate and I have found better ones. I bought this once and didnt mind eating it. Its basically the sea shells all together in a bar. It tastes the same as the individual shells. They break apart (I guess thats natural) when you break them, so a bit crumbly. A bit pricey, but worth it if you like these.
"assortment" means different shapes not fillings – I'm a lover of chocolate assortments, cremes and caramels in a convenient variety gift box. So seeing this on special I thought I would try it out,… Read more
not a huge fan of the guylian shells, can take them or leave them, but the description on the box sounded nice so I got one.
Sadly this box of chocolate contained 27 chocolates and of those 27 23 were the same chocolate just in a different shape. There was one caramel, one acidic caramel (I'm assuming it was meant to be a "fruit" caramel) and two with a silver of nut with the same overtly sweet praline filling the rest had, the rest tasted like the guylian shells.
Cleverly on the actual box it hints at variety making you think it's like the typical assortment box of chocolate, wording such as... [word for word at back of box as of 06/04/21] "Enjoy our Opus Luxury Assortment of Belgian chocolate masterpieces, each with it's own character and extraordinary taste, from excitingly crunchy to divinely creamy" ... so two chocolates had the sliver of nut in them so technically that's crunchy, creamy hints to creme centers which you do not get, at all, just the same firm praline center as the rest, none of the chocolates are "creamy", just typical run of the mill sugary sweet chocolates, they don't melt well on the tongue, you don't even taste a strong hazelnut flavor.
However beware on websites selling this box of chocolates they suggest there is even more variety in this box, saying you get a mix of chocolates from excitingly crunchy to divinely creamy, from hazelnut praline to soft caramel and fruity ganache.... nope... no you do not get that kind of variety at all. You get the same chocolate 23 times over in different shapes and then 4 different ones (well honestly the two with a bit of nut in it, since it's not even a full nut, just a sliver, should be counted with the rest so 25 the same out of 27, just different shapes.)
So if you love the normal Guylian praline chocolate, the shells, then you'll enjoy this box, if however you like assortments, variety in a box of chocolate you will hate this box. Avoid it, buy a different one.
