long-lasting, time-consuming, painful, anxious, and sad journey. I started an application in May to buy a new car without checking People’s Choice online reviews. Their competitive rates and no monthly fees reeled me in. At the beginning, I must say, the interaction with my first case officer was pleasant. He was polite and friendly. And yes, that’s probably all of it.
Then later on, here is what I feel:
If you want to be in the dark for weeks without an answer—use them.
If you want broken promises, such as them promising to call you back the next day when your case officer is on duty, but they never do—use them.
If you want to get rejected after you give them a deadline or say you’ll withdraw your application—use them. They will reject you before you can withdraw, so that a record is left on your future credit file.
If you like to wait hours to talk to them, I would suggest spending your time on something else. Even if you do manage to talk to someone, none of them can help because the person you speak to is your case officer, not the credit assessments person. If you want any helpful or useful information on why your application is pending, please withdraw your application immediately while you still can and use another lender.
I had numerous calls with them, and spent hours and days waiting for a reply with no luck. My deposit to the dealer almost expired, so I had no choice but to start a new application with Plenti, which was approved in 48 hours.
Four weeks with People’s Choice and no response vs. two days with Plenti and my application was approved.
The funny thing is rejected my application after I told them I am thinking of withdraw my application, well the "reason" they gave is that based on my current employment they can't offer me the loan. I laughed out loud. I own my own house worth over $650k outright, plus an investment property, plus a salary around $65k and ABN income around $35k, way beyond their credit line for such a tiny loan. My impression is the credit team might be underpaid, unhappy, and unmotivated to work to help others.
For anyone who has read this far, I suggest that whenever you see “People’s Choice,” turn around and run as fast as you can. DO NOT DO ANY BUSINESS with them. How they stay in business is a miracle. Actually, it’s more than a miracle; it’s magical or fantasy! How the ACCC allows these mopes to still operate is a humanitarian marvel in the banking history.
If you ever get a call back from them (if you’re lucky), I hope you have some holy water to rinse your ear. Evil, evil company, run as fast as you can!

considering a home loan refinance with Peoples Choice Credit Union. Our experience has been a joke, characterized by an absurd lack of communication and an intrusive, repetitive process that ultimately went nowhere.
On June 9th, we submitted our application, hoping for a smooth refinance. What followed was a seemingly endless loop of requests for more documentation, despite the fact that the documents we provided were perfectly valid and current at the time we first provided them. Each new request felt like a deliberate tactic to prolong the process and create more work for us.
The final insult came with their ludicrous demand that we add the amount for our business vehicle to the total home loan refinance loan so that the loan amount we take with them is higher than our original application. Their stated reason? That we "couldn't afford" to service our existing home and investment loans, which we have been successfully managing for 16 and 3 years, respectively. This completely baseless claim shows a shocking lack of common sense and a disregard for our proven financial history.
The customer service was abysmal, offering no clear answers and only contributing to the feeling of being trapped in a bureaucratic maze. The entire ordeal was intrusive and has wasted countless hours of our time. We were clearly deemed a risk despite years of responsible financial management, and their handling of our application was unprofessional and utterly unacceptable. I would strongly advise anyone to look elsewhere for their financial needs.
