I find it hard to rate a phone because I'm comparing a phone to a desktop PC. And I haven't really been through hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of… Read more

cell phones, so I can't compare phone to phone. So in my opinion, a phone that functions, obviously not equivalent to a PC, but functions similar to a PC would receive more positive feedback from me.

The first thing I noted was the heat the phone produces, which is similar to a PC. PCs produce phenomenal heat, so a phone that is producing phenomenal heat as opposed to no heat is a phone, in my opinion, that is functioning better. Of course heat causes problems such as freezing and shutdown. My phone hasn't shut down but it has frozen. In the case of that I just turn the phone off and let it cool down, put it in the shade or find a way to help cool it down just by leaving it. Once I boot it back up again it works fine. the overheating is causing the problem which as I always knew was a problem for a phone that overheats but I've never come across a phone that overheats like this one because I've never really invested in a phone until now.

While I bought this phone refurbished, not brand new, it was relatively cheap, within the $300 range. The phone was marked as a flagship phone, but doesn't have display alt mode, which was disappointing because I wanted to use the phone specifically for display port alt mode. But upon use and process in time, I have found that the display alt mode is not entirely necessary if necessary at all.

The camera is very good, better than any phone I've had. Not saying I've had any good phones, I haven't had any brilliant, high grade, top of the mark phones. This is probably the best phone I've ever owned and the camera functions very well. I bought the phone because I have a visual impairment that has increased so much I am almost blind. So I needed a phone that could facilitate in daily functions such as reading. The phone is integrated with Google Lens which is a brilliant application that can perform OCR to the standard of a $5,000 device. Also the camera is brilliant for taking general photos for selling online.

I have to use talkback which I think is a problem with most phones but overall talkback works at an optimal performance with this phone 95% of the time. Sometimes it glitches out, sometimes it becomes unresponsive and at these times I simply restart the phone by pressing and holding down the power button, the volume up and volume down button for 5 seconds and the phone reboots and restarts everything and works back to normal. It's a minor hiccup, but not a huge hiccup as I can see the problem being much larger and bigger with other phones. There are Google Pixel Pro 8 and 9, I believe. This is generation 7, so it's fairly obsolete. And as far as an obsolete phone goes, I have to say I'm rather satisfied with its functionality. It's very lightweight, very slim and has a very suave appearance which is good. I don't use this phone in public or carry it around much because from experience carrying phones around, carrying phones around usually ends up in damaging them. So it's best just to let the phone remain stationary. It acts as a great router for internet tethering to my desktop PC better than other phones, which is brilliant. During tethering it doesn't overheat. In fact it doesn't heat up at all. The phone is almost dormant during tethering. So I can simply use my PC in compensation for using the phone which is really very good. It also is good for transferring files to and from the PC. I'm writing this review after a month or so of use with this phone. I haven't had it for two to three years, so I'm not writing a mature product review.

But the main reason I bought this phone is because of the integration of display port mode which it doesn't even have so that was disappointing. But also it turns out the integration with Google Lens and the Google Pixel Pro 7 is superior to most phones. So optical character reading which is hard to achieve and also expensive has become very achievable and very inexpensive with this phone. So for this fact alone I am very grateful to have this phone. Which is an aspect that most people would not want the phone for.

Apart from that, the standard send text and make calls is just fine, as it always has been fine with most phones since they were made. Which is really what a phone is for, but as of late, there are a few other reasons to own a phone that a phone couldn't achieve 10 years ago. Happy with this phone, if I have problems with it in the future, I'll simply upgrade.

I don't see how a general civilian can rate hardware and software out of five because we don't know what the hardware is made of or how it's made. Neither do we know what the software, how the software was written. We're just basing our vote on experience which is not really relative to the reality of the composition of the hardware and software. So I just gave it four out of five and five for functionality

I'm well into my 2nd year with this thing. I believe that Google uses it's monopolistic power to suppress real user reviews. My first experience was… Read more

loading all my stuff on the phone only to find everything froze and I had no choice but to zero everything and start again.

The phone itself works ok, takes fair photos/video, has some nice useful features like telling it to set a timer. It has been pretty durable. Google Photo edit is ok but not great. Used to have an option to save as opposed to saving a copy so now I waste time deleting the extra image. My previous generations older Samsung could make significantly better audio/video recordings from its mic. If I sing a song with my guitar the recording is shabby. Not much good for a musician. My wife's very old $300 Vivo has far longer battery life and much better preloaded apps. It is years old and still amazes me for what you get for your money.

Certain poorly designed software updates frequently interrupt. Google might have fired their best engineers. One update reset alarm settings and my alarm didn't wake me up. Software updates on other phones have never changed my stored settings until Pixel. Recently when viewing photos a pop-up appears urging me to backup files to their cloud and it can't be closed. There is no close this window option. I have to restart the phone to get rid of it. It is so annoying that I am certain I'll never buy another Google product. I'm on a contract with my provider. One year to go and it is gone.

I am shocked at the very poor support offered by Google. My pixel 7a battery burst. Google states on it's website that this is a known problem. It… Read more

purports to have a restitution program. Australian Consumer Law states that consumers are entitled to reasonable life of electronic devices. I have so far had about 40 email exchanges with Google. No email trail. Repeated requests for the same information. Different people responding to emails .. no consistency. No response to request for advice on the potential risk of retaining the device with a severely swollen battery. The retailer has been helpful but say Google refused to provide restitution for the damaged phone. I have been a committed Pixel user. No longer!

lasts ages, and the fast charging is a huge bonus when you're on the go. For $849, it honestly feels like a top-tier phone without spending over $1000. You really can’t go wrong with this one! Extremely durable and feels sturdy to hold. Such a beautiful piece of technology. Beyond glad I preordered this beautiful device. Upgraded from a google pixel 8a as it went through the washing machine and also had a Motorola g55 5g to do me over until 2 days ago when I received this phone. Google have outdone themselves. I'd never go to apple or Samsung or Oppo again. Brilliant absolutely brilliant!!

have removed from Pixel phones. e.g it is not possible to set the priority for wifi calling you are stuck with the default priority sim only meaning wifi calling while overseas will not work. If you are using the Pixel as a mobile hotspot Google have removed the option to even view which devices are connected it will only display the quantity of devices no way to see what they are. Nope wouldn't ever consider a Google phone again.

with the phone's reception. Internet drops out regularly and you can't make calls until it comes back. Didn't have this problem with older phone. I'm not in remote area, I'm in Sydney. After googling this issue it seems it's a problem with many because Google used outdated software instead of the better stuff they used in Google 9 phone. I expected better from a mid range phone.
