2 failures in 9 months, missing parts in brand new unit – We got ActronAir system as part of our newly built home. The handover was around winter so aircon when tested was coping fine and blowing cold air, heating has always been a bit of an issue but then even in the manual they say to use other heaters when it is cold (mind you I am in Brisbane, can't imagine using this system for heating in Sydney). … Read more

When summer hit it turned out the system is actually not cooling, took us ages to get the technician and then again quite a bit of time for them to get the parts from Actron, apparently the unit was missing some parts from when it left factory... (I cant verify this, just what I was told by technician).

Another couple months later and this still pretty new unit (9 months old now) gives up on cooling again, this time completely...

I wish I had an option to choose a more established brand, also with better customer service.... Not much confidence in this unit going forward.

-- UPDATE: after this review, the item has been brought to Actron attention, their (not the installers') service guys attended the site and spent about 2-3 hrs fixing up all the problems, since then the unit has been so far working without problems. So maybe it was installers' issue or some defective unit... Just thought it was fair to provide this update.

Too noisy – Very disappointed how noisy it is. Leaks water in and out of the external unit which Actron says is normal. Got the run around between Actron service and technical who seemed more keen on potentially charging me $210 for a visit. In frustration I purchased an Actron sound kit from the dealer so it’s a bit quieter now but still too noisy. We can… Read more

hear it in the house and I am self conscious about turning it on for the sake of the neighbours. The sad thing is it is operating at a sound level Actron say is normal for the unit. Fortunately it heats and cools ok. I wish I had purchased another Daiken which is a much quieter brand.

7 month old unit, spent over 20k - No heating for nearly two weeks amidst Melbourne’s cold snap -Extremely poor service – System abruptly stopped heating Saturday 4th June. Blowing only cold air. Controllers, unit and fans all working. No sign of fault or error code. Called builder advised to call manufacturer. 9am Monday 6th June. Called Actron. Told it could be 2-4 business days before we heard from a service technician. Called every two days since. Builder advised… Read more

to try the installer. Called Executive Heating and Cooling. Initially they got someone to call us back. Talk through a reset which we had already done but tried again. Said to call back if we didn’t have any luck and didn’t hear from Actron. We called back and haven’t heard back since. Have not had one single phone call back from Actron despite being promised about five. Have not had any calls from local service technician it had apparently been referred on to. Called Friday 10th June told we would receive a phone call by end of day. Nothing. Tuesday 14th June call Actron 9am. Told escalated to a manager, and that Actron would follow up with their technician and that area manager would call us back. Would also receive a text with the service technicians details to follow up ourselves. 3pm - Received none of the above. Called back. Got service technician details - called them to be told there is a 4 week wait! It has been as low as 5 degrees and no more than 8 degrees overnight in the past week. House currently 14 degrees for my young family including 9 year old with Croup. If we were renting this is considered a necessity and a maintenance emergency, and would have to be looked at/repaired within 24 hours, but because we are homeowners no one cares and there is no governing body to help us. We cannot get any one else to look at it because we will void our warranty. We should have stayed with the builders standard included gas ducted heating instead of UPGRADING and paying $20,000 for the pleasure of freezing in winter in our new home. Buyer beware. DO NOT recommend this product at all or the company who provide less than poor service and take zero responsibility.

Summer great - Winter problems – New build ducted ActronAir CRA170T 17Kw installed by reputable company we’ve used before. Unit is EXTREMELY noisy despite remedials. Neighbours still complaining and yes even we know it’s bad. The noises are intermittent and techs can’t pin point despite 4 visits and a condenser cover and rubber feet installed. In summer the unit was on all the… Read more

time and was great... but now it sounds like a hissing, groaning and clunking ancient machine. Cost a bomb and was advised this Aussie machine is built for our climate, more efficient bla bla bla. The neighbour (a lawyer) is not very happy and we don’t blame him. I just don’t get why the installer is expected to house call multiple times trying to diagnose and fix when ActronAir could just replace the condenser/guts and if the noise disappears then we know what BBM it was! Instead installer is supposed to foot the bill troubleshooting? We should have got another brand! Because if Actron can’t fix we’ll need to stop using the aircon.

Perfect choice – Have had the unit for over six months. Excellent during summer months. Maintained temperature within a couple of degrees of setting in each room. Installed to condition upstairs bedrooms. 2x controllers. One upstairs, one down. Temperature sensors in 4x rooms. Should have installed years ago. Show details ·  1

Another ActronAir Win – Glad again gone to Actron Air ducted air con. Winter or Summer comfortable temperatures year round. Previously had gone the higher model ESP Platinum at a higher cost, in this case a bit smaller house only planning to be here couple years and after speaking with installer the Classic more basic model seemed to fit our needs and budget better. I… Read more

was hesitant RE noise or missing the ESP features but have been happy still.

Performance is bullet proof. 4 bedroom house, living and large rumpus all heated or cooled easily down to freezing or 40 degrees not an issue. All zones on no issues.

Noise from the outdoor unit is a bit higher, especially when compresser is starting. I would be mindful and try to be considerate of the outdoor unit placement with neighbours and your own bedrooms. Actron should do more to reduce the outdoor unit noise considering the residential use of these systems and potential issues with noise regulations - In US appears ducted air con manufaturers supply noise dampening covers and filling with units that could help. Indoors the return is fine no real noise or issues.

Still Actron are lacking in connectivity to home assistants for automation. They have introduced ability to install BMS card but then still need to look at additional bridge to get from there to your Alexa or Google Home at high cost. A newer version of the ActronConnect module that supports apps/skills and integration with assistants shouldn't be that hard to have come up with. Next home that we will be building this will be a strong decider for me and if a house going to live in for a decade or more I would not go ActronAir if they do not have proper home assistant connectivity.

Please don’t bother – This classic 2 system was purchased as part of my new home built, a relatively small home that should be easily managed by this air con. But when the outside temperature is around 30 degrees this unit can’t get the house down to below 25 degrees with the fan running on high and continuously and just in 1 zone of a lounge room. My old split system… Read more

is far more effective. And of course neither the builder, installer or actron want to help. So I’m stuck with this heap of junk that couldn’t cool down any better than a ceiling fan.
