ActronAir ESP Platinum QUE

Very unreliable – We have had our ESP Que ducted system for 7 years and for most of that time the system has been a pain in the back. We have lost count on the number of room sensors/controllers we have had replaced when under warrant and also what we purchased in the past 2 years (At over $450 each). The control card in the indoor unit has been replaced, the main… Read more
controller on the wall was replaced and as I write this the system doesn’t work yet again as there is a fault on the screen requiring a technician to investigate. The electronics are very unreliable and components seem cheap and subject to failure constantly. Something changed at Actron as quality is no longer a given…. We are in the ridiculous position that we are now planning to replace this $22,000 system in the new year with either Daikin or Fujitsu as we are so sick of never being able to rely on the Actron working.
Worst control system! – ESP Platinum QUE is the worst control system! Constantly dropping off wifi, and when you try to reconnect, it won't let you. I have to connect to my guest wifi (5GHz) forget the network once connected, then reconnect to my main wifi (24GHz/5GHz). I have plenty of devices that only use 2.4GHz, and they work flawlessly (Asko dishwasher, Miele… Read more
washing machine, Tesla Powerwall, just to name a few), but the Actron? Drops off randomly, and always when you want to use it. Absolute crock that it is not compatible with my Orbi mesh. I don't see why a $20k air con can't work, where a $2k dishwasher has not trouble. And it is not like Actron hasn't had years to resolve the issue.
Prompt Service – Outdoor unit stop working just after 2 years on a hot day. Technician turned up promptly for repair. No hardware failure. Outdoor electronic board lost memory and needed to be reprogrammed. After reprogram system is running again however compressor will not ramp up more than 80 percent. Spoke to technical support help line, they will arrange someone to revisit shortly. Show details · 9
Why does it create a wind tunnel? – Actron Air Platinum ESP Que install with the maximum power unit. We've had it a year and it certainly works, but it's like having an evaporative system in terms of the wind tunnel it creates in our house. Disappointed as we'd seen it working in a similar house (ours has slightly larger bedrooms than that house) and was under the impression it was… Read more
a whisper quiet system, but it always seems to have to run high to cool rooms and those air returns help create the huge wind tunnel that sucks doors shut so they can't be moved and creates huge wind noise in the hallway in that wing of the house. Always seem to have to be fiddling with temps to get things right - too cold or too hot, despite what the zone temps say. Never seems to properly manage cooling in our main living areas. Not impressed, for the price we paid. And really not all that sure it saves on power, given our bills before we installed solar (mind you, new build, so we didn't have window coverings at the time). It's in now, so unfortunately can't change it, but would look several times at other systems.

Great system, seems efficient and love the Zoning – I installed the 19KW system with Que controller. I love how it has much better control over the zones and the other more well-known brands and only needs to heat or cool the areas we need. Very happy BUT.. 1)It seriously needs to support IFTTT, Google Alexia etc. I also have solar and it should be aware when the sun is shining and I can take… Read more · 1
advantage of that. 2)The Schedule is complicated and won't allow different temps at different times of the day for each zone. ( Happy to be proven wrong. 3)The zone controller failed and the whole thing stopped working. 1 week for them to turn up, and they said they needed 1 week to get spares from Sydney ( I'm in Melbourne) SERIOUS? Not good enough.
Actron Air Que CRQ5-21AT – I replaced the builder installed 14KW to 19KW Platinum Que recently with Que controller and 7 Temperature zone sensors. It has been working fantastically and cools and heats the zones in appropriate time effecient manner. Only issue is the app controller on iphone is not good enough and is having a time lag but seems to be working okay on Samsung phone. Overall very happy. Show details · 1
Terrible system hasn’t worked since we got it – Built a house with Metricon and paid for this system. Since moving in it has not worked. Zone after zone fails. Zones don’t turn off, water leaks into the house, and an app that is unresponsive. Would recommend you buy another system. Slow to respond and the service manager looking after the case doesn’t return calls. They don’t provide fault… Read more
reports either. Told them which zones weren’t working, and they told me they don’t even know which motors they changed. Surprisingly the system still doesn’t work. Very very disappointing experience
After posting a review was contacted by service manager told system would be inspected a week ago no one turned up and no contact. Guess what system still doesn’t work
Had another fault within the warranty period and not only was it not fixed but actron sent an… Read more (+5 replies)
Not very reliable – Installed QUE system 4 weeks ago and the system didn't work for most of time and I had to call 3 times till now to a technician to come and fix and replace the faulty products installed (they have replaced one faulty unit twice as the replaced unit also was faulty) I am happy about the service and response time to come and fix, however, I paid over 18000 for the unit in the past 4 weeks which I could only use for a few days. Very Happy Great System – Just had an upgrade from a older Actron System (lasted 24 years) and the new Platinum QUE is just the best ever! We have 8 zones in our house with individual controls - wireless connectivity - set and forget. Works effortlessly and both cools and heats up our large 2 storey house quickly. Should have done this upgrade earlier but very happy its now in...... Show details · 1
Great System - So Easy! – Had this installed a few months back and absolutely love it. Heats and cools our home with aplomb and the multi zone set up is sensational. Love the ability to utilise the app to turn on/off and adjust the zones as necessary. Cannot fault. Show details · 1
Best system on the market – Friends who have an older version of this system swore by it so we looked into an Actron unit. We looked extensively at a variety of products but settled on the Actron QUE ERQ3-17AS (16.55kW) single phase unit. We have 5 zones (3 x BR's, Entrance & Living Room) 12 months later we are still very happy with it after a summer and winter using the… Read more · 1
system. We previously just had a split system in the living room only and just heating that space costs almost comparable with what we are now doing the whole house. The outdoor unit is on the outside of the master bedroom wall and we never hear it.
We got the QUE system and upgraded to have the controllers in each room (instead of just the sensor) but we honestly rarely use them. The master controller is very cool visually and functionally but the app on our phone is pretty much the main way we use the system whether that be outside of the home, laying in bed or on the couch. Its just easier and more native than using the other controllers.
Ideally (and hopefully) they one day further integrate what is already a great system with Google home, Siri etc. and/or add the other system information found on the master controller into the app (none of which is really important but nice to know).
Excellent choice no regrets – Installed actron esp platinum que 6kw system with 7 zones. Works brilliantly and efficiently. Live in 2 storey house and no problems even on 45c day keeping house cool up and down. Que controller was temperamental at the start when using the app on wifi and I had read similar problems on numerous reviews but after first few days for some reason… Read more · 1
works fine now as it’s supposed to. Also had a one off run of error messages day 2 for short period of 30 mins but seemed to rectify itself since then no more errors and working perfectly. Had the system for 1 week now and very satisfied with the performance and its features. Installed by Arrow a/c and did great job very courteous and cleaned up afterwards. Would highly recommend this system and Arrow a/c installers.
Replacement of 18 year old A/C – Put in twin Actron Platinum QUE units in my two storey house, one for upstairs, one for downstairs. Best decision ever! 24 Celsius inside even on a 43 Celsius day. Show details · 1
Find out how ActronAir ESP Platinum QUE compares to other Ducted Air Conditioners
Know better, choose better.
Excellent System - Just needs Apple/Google/Amazon Home Automation Integration – This system replaced a 12 year old 2-zone ducted system that never cooled properly. We now have 8 zones with individual Que room units, amazing efficiency and perfect temps. The system perfectly adjusts per zone to have each zone at its set temperature and uses less power per zone than a split system. Highly recommended. Only thing I wish it had… Read more · 1
was integration with Apple HomeKit, Google Home and/or Amazon Alexa, as the iOS app isn’t very responsive and I find myself having to use the main controller instead of the app.
I have lived without air-conditioning before but not anymore – Our house catches a reasonable breeze in summer and wood fires keep us warm in winter however as we get a little older the luxury of having and using Actron Air Platinum with Que controls becomes more appealing. This summer in Melbourne has been a mixed bag of weather events with 46 degree days down to 5 degree nights so it is reassuring to have… Read more · 1
our new ActronAir unit to keep the temperature where we want it. Excellent unit with easy to understand controls, why have we waited so long??
The only system I could find on the market that did everything I wanted – I chose this system after weeks of research and reading reviews. Precise temperature control of every room, automatic fan speed control depending on how many dampers are open gives unparalleled efficiency. The options in the Que control system leaves nothing out, except maybe for Google assistant compatibility, even the technical details provided… Read more · 1
for the refrigeration engineer means they don't need diagnostic tools to find faults. When the compressor is running flat out, it is quite loud, but if that is a problem, there is a quiet mode option that drops the sound levels right down. It never actually runs flat out for very long though as it very quickly brings the rooms to temperature then drops down to a level that maintains the temperature perfectly. I've only had this system a few months over winter and it has performed faultlessly so far. Expensive, yes, but good value. High efficiency, good warranty, the Que control system can receive updates over the internet and I hope they decide to include Google Assistant compatibility soon as that would make this system perfect. I would recommend this system to anyone prepared to pay for what they want.
Aircon on QUE – This top of range ducted Home Unit works well and with a simple app makes controlling your temperature room by room a breeze. The Platinum Que though has a long start up before cooling the house. Show details · 1
Worst Warranty Service ever experienced – Over 7 weeks ago I reported to ActronAir problems that we were experiencing with our 1.5 year old ESP ducted system. Their system is that you report warranty claims to them and they arrange the repairer to come out. After 2 weeks a young bloke from Weston and Weston ,Wagga came out unannounced at 8am in the morning and made it quite clear that he… Read more
knew nothing of these systems and in fact it was the first that he had ever seen. The wi fi control had ceased working and it seemed to be issuing erroneous control commands. We settled on the fact that the wi fi module was probably the problem and he would order one under warranty. That was over 5 weeks ago and I have complained to Weston and Weston and I have complained to ActronAir. Their customer service person did not think that it was unsatisfactory that nothing has been done to date neither has anyone contacted us re the delay. Appalling customer service and I can say that we are not that happy with the performance of the unit either.

Great product (mostly) and Excellent Service – We had the Actron Air Que installed 18 months ago. It works really well the majority of the time for both heating and cooling but there have been one issue where we have had to have a technician come out twice in the first 18 months due to a part breaking down in the outdoor unit (same part both times). In saying that, Actron have been great and… Read more · 1
even in the height of a summer heatwave we were able to get a technician very quickly.
Highly recommend Actron for Sydney residents (can’t speak to other areas).
Great performance, and looks good too – I've had my QUE for about 6 months and it's been great. I've mostly used it for heating thus far but have also had to use it for cooling a few times as Summer comes on, and in my experience it gets our house comfortable quickly. The main controller touch screen looks great, with a really nice UI. There's also a bunch of tech data that you… Read more · 1
can review with regards to individual components and data etc. I'm sure for the more technically inclined this would be useful, I personally haven't looked at it once after being shown it the first time.
I actually tend to use the mobile phone app to control the overall system more often than the controller itself, so I'm happy that it came included without needing to be upgraded. In my experience it's been very easy to use.
In terms of the individual zones, I chose to use the room sensors rather than the room controls, as they are small and look smart. So far I have not regretted this choice, as anytime I've needed to change temperatures in the zone I've typically done so using the app, so in my view wouldn't have needed the individual room controller.
One thing that really stuck with me with the overall product was when our installation company (Airflow International - who were also great) actually set it up, it was the first time they had installed a QUE. They were amazed at how quiet it was when running - I'm not personally too familiar with how loud or quiet air conditioners usually tend to be, but from what I've experienced to date it's certainly quiet in my view.
Great usability but limited to 20 deg and app needs work – A couple of months use and very impressed with the flexibility. Having rooms with individual choice of temperature works very well. Our family finds this the best system by far and previously we had an expensive Mitsubishi system. The only limitation that is annoying is that we can only select down to 20 deg. Actron say this protects the unit… Read more
but we find sometimes we like 19 deg but cannot choose it. The app is annoying when it drops out or wifi drops out you have to fully log back in. Okay both not show stoppers and wouldn’t change my mind on this system. Ideal for those hot humid nights.
Fantastic unit – I did A LOT of research on this unit before spending a medium fortune on it, many a cheaper unit can be bought, but none come close to be able to truly throttle back to one bedroom and only use 1.4 Kw of cooling. Inverters are not all the same when you start to compare how well most of them only come down to 50-60%. The Actron can truly come down… Read more
to 10% airflow, easily cools just our master bedroom with no 'dumping' of excess flow. I expect the energy savings will come a long way to cover the extra over its lifetime.
I have a 5 zone set up, 2 separate zone controllers for spare room and office, 3 temp sensors for master, lounge and kitchen/dining. System pretty much sets itself up when installed and flashed up for the first time. Quiet, barely hear it inside even flat out and outside unit is quite quiet without the claimed noises of previous units as it cycles up and down. The Que interface is easy to use and all the extra stuff kept me amused for a while, but largely set and forget and it does a great job of keeping things comfortable. Conne3ctivity with the app is included in the system as it is all wireless anyway and works well.
Dealer install was OK, nothing special and the sales process was lacking true information on this system and quote had some iffiness about it.
