Adventure Kings Escape 20 Fridge/Freezer AKFR-FR20L_A_01

At $159, including a cover I thought this fridge was too cheap to be any good, so I put it to the test. I already have a Kings Stayzcool 45L fridge that has worked well over the past 12 months so I bought this smaller 20L fridge as a backup drinks fridge. I filled the fridge with 24 x 375ml VB cans to provide a thermal mass and measured power consumption using an inline wattmeter and internal temperature using an Inkbird fridge thermometer. The fridge was powered using a Bluetti AC70 power pack. The ambient temperature during the tests was 21°C. Here are the results: 1. Power setting MAX, Temp setting 2°C - Current draw with compressor running 3.7Ah (50 watts) average current draw over 24 hours 14.2Ah. 2. Power setting ECO, Temp setting 2°C - Current draw with compressor running 2.3Ah (30 watts) average current draw over 24 hours 9.1Ah. 3. Actual fridge Temp on both settings: Min 1.3°C, Max 4.6°C average 2.3°C. I opened one of the VB cans and measured the beer temperature using a food thermometer: result 2.4°C - Perfect! I then changed the 375ml cans for freezer blocks and set the fridge temperature on -18°C to see how it performs as a freezer. Power setting MAX: 24hr current draw 18.6Ah, internal temp -14°C (although the fridge's built in thermometer indicated -17°C). Conclusions If you're thinking of buying one of these fridges it works very well as a drinks/food fridge and OK as a short term freezer. It will be interesting to see how well it stands up to hot weather. I'll do another review in the summer. Keep an eye on the Kings web site as the price varies from week to week. It's often cheaper to buy it as part of a bundle that a standalone fridge.
