Spend the money, buy something decent. Bought this 40L escape fridge 2 1/2 years ago when travelling FNQ. Seemed to work well at first, used mainly with 240v as on 12v has a massive current draw, something around 10 amps just to keep it running. It would freezes up all the time and now wont cool down at all. Set on -12 but wont come down past +9.… Read more

No warranty being a 2 year warranty, but was only used for approx 3 months. I'd like to say it will be good enough for the odd weekend away and will cool your drinks efficiently but that's not the case. Would have been cheaper to buy an esky and ice.

We are very happy with the kings Escape 40L fridge/freezer. Is the ideal size we were looking for. Tall enough to stand milk unlike other brands we looked at. Cools within 30 min. Not over heavy but still solid. Easy to use. And extremely quiet.… Read more ·  2

Don't even know it is running. Bought with the cover which is very beneficial in keeping it cool especially on those really hot days, so not over working the fridge. As we have had this only for a few weeks, time will tell how long it lasts. At this point i would recommend this product.

Follow-up  · This is a follow up a month on from buying the Kings 40L fridge/freezer. Still going extremely well, very low power draw, no condensation, keeps things the at the set temp, though on a really hot 35 -38c day it may be 1 degree above set temp as it works harder to keep it cold. And would be worse with out the cover, it really works and my advise is… Read more

It’s interesting that to buy the Fridge was cheaper online and doing a Click & Collect, than going in store? The staff still had to collect the items … but anyway, that said … The fridge works well. Once I have cooled the drinks in the garage before we go, the vehicle adapter keeps the same temperature with what appears no fuss. The fridge did… Read more ·  1

struggle a bit in the 40+ degree heat the other week, but still it was good. The internal temperature only rose 2.5 degrees above the set temp. Now we just hope it operates for a few years … that would be excellent. The only negative is the carry handles are shallow and makes it hard to carry the fridge a long distance, but for lifting in and out of the vehicle, no problems.

Ordered the fridge through the online service. The unit was packed and ready to be picked up . Was the only fridge that would fit my existing pull out tray . Show details ·  1

Complete game changer for our camping experience. Normally rely on eskies and gross camp kitchen fridges & freezers to refreeze cold blocks. Didn’t have to go near those once. Fit perfectly under the roller shutter of the ute with its insulating cover. Highly recommend. Only thing that could make it better is be able to flip the plug so it can be used in either direction and not choke the cable. Show reply

Nothing is what it seems – My experience with the 40 ltr escape from Kings, is it does work , but I find it is has bad temperature regulation. At 13 degrees setting it had ice on the inside walls on one or two occassions ,but at other times just slightly cool. Seems to have high current draw, either that or the Kings 100ah battery is rubbish .See my kings battery review .… Read more

The so called reversible lid broke the first time I tried to swap sides, with the little plastic pins that hold it in the holes on the fridge being of hollow plastic, their weak and brittle plastic ,breaks easy. They would not give me a new lid and said I had to leave it at the store for several days so they could reveiew the warranty and if approved a new fridge would be the case. I didnt have time because I was just about to begin my camping trip, and so I just kept the fridge. Pros: 1. Only about $230 with insulating cover. 2.;The little drain plug is a good idea. 3,The inside light is cool. 4.Its kinda light for its size 5.It will run down to 10.2 volts

but would Buy Kings fridge again, probably not .! mainly due to high power consumption and temperature regulation issues.
