My dog is 3.5kg - pet shop told me that Advocate for dogs 4 to 10kg is can be used on him, if I use a half dose. My research since indicates this is wrong. Would like to know what people here think? I went ahead and paid quite a bit for the Advocate on the basis of what they told me, so not happy.

I gave a dose I got from the vets of advocate last night to my 16 week old sausage dog. Today he is listless, not eating and was sick this morning. Hope he's better tomorrow. Could he be allergic to advocate?

How long will the scent of advocate last? It’s really getting up my nose. Plus affecting my eyes. I’ve only got a 1.6kg Coton & it’s very powerful to me. What is it doing to her?

I gave my 3kg puppy the dose for 4 to 10kg dose of advantix accidentally. Should I try and wash it off or is it okay?

Hi Judith We have been using advocate on our young cat for about 6 months now and havnt had the need to wash it. Put it on the back of the neck as directions and then it can't be licked off. It dries over night. We gave had no problems with advocate.

Cheers Marg

I have a 3kg puppy do i use the puppy treatment or can i use small dog treatment?

Alyson

Best to ask your vet, personally I split a big dog container between my two as it works out to be more economical, probably not recommended by the manufacturers for obvious reasons.

Can I use advocate on my dog at 3 wks instead of 4 wks?

Erin
Erin

Best used at 4 weeks the main use of the monthly dose is for heartworm treatment, also added bonus of worming. Using it to early may not be effective as previous dose is still working.

Leave it longer than sooner and use a small amount first to check for allergies.

Is Advocate smell harmful to human lungs?

Megsymoo
Megsymoo

Hi Merry, It has a little smell to it but it's not over powering and once it's applied to your pet you won't really smell it as it soaks into there skin. You should be fine as it's not too strong, just discard the packaging as directed and wash your hands thoroughly and you will be okay.

Please, please don't use this product. It KILLED my Yorkie. People will say oh I've used it for years and I had but something went horribly wrong. He had the most horrendous death and people need to know, that those few drops can kill.

I've always bathed my dog before putting the flea treatment on but I don't no if that is the right thing to do .

Should I bath my dog before or after the flea treatment

Danee-ell86

Always bath BEFORE, if you're going to at all during treatment.

Washing after can wash it off and reduce the effectiveness of the product. I wash mine before application also.

I want to apply Advocate for my miniature schnauzer. It is best to bath my dog first or apply the flea, heartworm and worms treatment? Thank you!

I bathed my dogs a couple of days before if they needed one. It would be best to ask your vet though.

I hope it works as well for you!

I am not an expert on Advocate, only a disgruntled user. My unprofessional advice would be to never use advocate on any animal. My cat is almost a week into treatment and still very unwell. In my experience, this hasn't occurred with prior use of same styled other brand treatments. Sorry I can't be more helpful.
