I am writing to formally raise a complaint regarding my recent travel experience with Air India on 25 March 2026 from Melbourne to Delhi, with a connecting flight to Amritsar (Flight AI-309). After boarding the aircraft and being seated for approximately two hours, the flight was unexpectedly cancelled. This caused significant inconvenience and… Read more

distress. What made the situation worse was the complete lack of assistance—there were no Air India staff members available to guide or support passengers following the cancellation.

I had an important medical appointment scheduled in India on the morning of 27 March 2026. Despite explaining the urgency of my situation, I was only offered an alternative flight departing Melbourne at 8:30 PM on 27 March, which made it impossible for me to attend my appointment.

This experience has been extremely disappointing and unprofessional. The lack of communication, poor handling of passengers, and failure to provide timely rebooking or support reflects very poorly on your service standards.

Given the circumstances, I request appropriate compensation for the inconvenience, delay, and the impact this has had on my personal commitments.

This was an incredibly frustrating and poorly handled experience with Air India. My original Sydney–Delhi–Kathmandu itinerary had a perfectly reasonable connection. Air India then changed the schedule on their end, cutting the transit time down to an impossible 50 minutes. As expected, they rebooked me onto a much later flight with a 7-hour… Read more

layover — a clear downgrade from my original journey.

Here’s the worst part: once earlier flights that was cancelled, were operating again, I requested to be moved back to a reasonable connection. Instead of fixing their own disruption properly, they demanded a fare difference — and not just a small one, but an amount higher than the cost of a brand-new ticket for the same route. That’s honestly ridiculous.

So let me get this straight — the airline creates the problem, worsens the passenger experience, and then tries to charge an inflated amount to restore what was originally booked? That’s not just poor service, it feels like taking advantage of the situation.

Extremely disappointing handling, zero flexibility, and a complete lack of customer care. Definitely not the kind of experience you expect when things go wrong.

We were not sure about the reliability of AI. We were surprised to find a great flying experience, professional conduct of cabin crew, no delays experienced all the way from Madurai to Chennai to Mumbai to Jamnagar to Mumbai to Chennai. They are doing great and I hope they will continue to improve more and more. Show details

Don’t go for this !! PLEASE !! – Worst experience, There was a technical issue with flight AI308 to begin with then a commercial issue with a business class passenger and realising 3 hours after boarding everyone was de-planned because of technical fault again. Ridiculously long wait inside the airplane so suffocating, with no ventilation and air conditioning working. To make… Read more

things worse the host staff was not updating and just saying that they don’t know as captain has not updated them as well. The new plane was later arranged which took another 3-4 hours. To make it even worse all passengers had to go through the security check all over again and the security staff members there were not very kind and understanding about situation the passengers were facing at first the boarding time was announced at 1800hours then at 1915 then 1945 and finally plane took off at 2100hours . The way things were being handled made it even more tiresome. The food was also not what it used to be as we had travelled with Air India once before and the only reason why we chose Air India. The nightmare didn’t end yet as the descend down to Melbourne airport was horrible experience ever never seen so many passengers vomiting. Air India left no stone unturned to make sure that passengers of AI308 Delhi to Melbourne would come back. The passengers should be compensated for this terrible, tiresome, mental trauma.

Had flights with Air India from Melbourne to New Delhi, then New Delhi to Vienna - and back again. These are long flights ranging from 8.5 hours to 12.5 hours per flight. Not once did the provided "In Flight Entertainment" work for the flights. The screens would work for some seats and not others, staff would be surprised and not give reasons as… Read more

to the screens not working, as if it was something that didn't happen EVERY single flight, and we were provided with "wifi" that our own devices could connect to to access JUST the entertainment channels they provided - but again, half the time the wifi didn't connect - and it would chew up device battery life the whole time, which could be a solvable solution if the charging stations provided with each chair also worked - which again, often did not. Honestly it was such a ridiculous experience. The screens didn't work, wifi didn't work, charging stations didn't work, CALL bell buttons didn't work, and overhead light buttons didn't work. It was by far the worst airline I have ever flown with, and I will guarantee never to fly with them again and strongly recommend against anyone else going ahead with this airline. Bathrooms were not maintained during the long flights either, and staff members did not work to provide assistance knowing the call bells did not work, they seemed to focus on not noticing anyone requesting assistance. Seats broken, arm rests faulty, the aircraft itself was faulty on one of our flights which caused a 3 hour delay, honestly, it was insane the level of disrepair ALL aircrafts were in. Online book in also did not work for any of the flights I tried, as the website either crashed, or just simply did not load. Group seating next to 1 other person was extra $ for online booking. The *only* redeeming points were the spacious legroom, and the provided lunch and dinner - which were yummy but spicy just be aware.

Overall, never going to fly with this airline again.

Air India motto "I am Sorry" I was fine with my online service and communication. Check-in was also good both online and at the airport. food was tasteless. I got butter but not bread. My suite case was treated like a football i was scratched and dents. Luggage service just said Sorry and tried to push out the dents. Now on my return the Online Checking and selecting of Free seat at the front in Premium section. It was good until I was processing the payment - I got an error and was placed the button of the flight. I WAS UNABLE TO DO ANY THING TO CHANGE THIS. As it was night, I waiting till next day to addressed with customer service by phone that just told me that they could not do anything as all seats was taken - I tried to explain that, as I was not able to complete the return upgrade at time of departure upgrade and system failed at time of check-in, it could not be correct that I was penalised. There comes the respond that seems to be the Air India motto "I am Sorry".

I will not flight with Air India again.

collection was all Indian centric and in Hindi and hardly any choice for non indian citizen. Plane looked very old and not even usb charger . Toilet were disguisting and were badly worn out. Strange noises in toilet. So intertainment wise i would say it is zero and not a great feeling. And as soon as i entered the plane there smelled something bad, not a pleasant smell.

The good side was, air hostess were amazinlgy friendly, lots of foods for 13 hours flight. Loved their colour ful sari and other customs. Also Landling and take off was so smooth.

Also good had no fruits but great to see lots of vegetarian items and no drama like other airlines where vegetarian people gets non veg meal and you have to do pre booking just to get vegetarian meal. Here in air india i was asked everytime ifni want veg or non veg. And simply give you what you wish so great to seee they have abandace of vegetarian good who needs them ( Althought im non veg but was great to see that facility)

So overall not a bad as i thought , would i travel again ? Um!!!.may be . If they want to survive and compete.with other airlines, they need to lift their game specially with new planes and intertainment.

We booked Air India as we have very high esteem for the brand TATA, however, it all turned out to be a nightmare. I am sure you will play blame game between Air India and ground Staff at Delhi Airport. However, the overall experience was worse than bad. We were travelling by AI308 from Delhi to Melbourne on 24/Jan 2026. First, the gate announced… Read more

was 4 and then it was changed to 44, from one end to the other. When person came and advised change of gate, we asked him what about person for whom we had booked wheelchair. Instead of requesting a wheelchair at the gate he asked us whether the person could walk down. Only upon raising concern did he call for wheelchair assistance. Without buggies or automated ramps, the distance between two gates was much straining even for normal person. Apart from delay of more than an hour and half, when the gate was opened there were no wheelchair assistance. We were required to board buses on our own which stranded passengers at the plane in severe cold conditions of Delhi night and they were not allowed to alight the plan on arrival. After several minutes ultimately, they started allowing people to embark, we asked what is facility for people who have booked wheelchair assistance. To our surprise, laughingly girl checking boarding passes asked us to climb to the airplane and ask the crew for clarification alternatively should have asked at the gate from where bus pick up were provided. It was so rude that, could not argue any further. Then somehow, we (with my wife for whom we had requested wheelchair due to knee problems) slowly boarded the plane and further asked the attendants receiving the passengers, said there are arrangements, but you ask the girls standing down at the steps, supposing we should go back down the stairs and ask those silly girls. It was a pathetic experience. Then it started nearly twelve hours of trauma further. In such long journey also, the plane seemed to be dated without working entertainment screen. Not even does it have USB port for charging, in case our mobile batteries drain out (in absence of entertainment system failure in the flight). The whole journey from arriving at Delhi Airport to Melbourne Airport was pathetic, full of trauma with filthy unclean seats and toilets. The journey was so unpleasant that we have decided not to travel by Air India any more whatever may the price difference or discounts as it seems there are many things Indian service providers need to improve, improve plane and flight service qualities. Air India NEVER AGAIN.

Unfortunately, a very disappointing experience with Air India. After missing a connecting flight on our outbound journey (international arrival and complex transfer process), our return flight continued to appear as “confirmed” in the system for more than two weeks. We were able to manage the booking online and even received an email inviting us… Read more

to check in.

Only at the airport were we informed that the ticket was supposedly no longer valid and could only be reissued after paying a “penalty” of more than €500. At no point were we informed of this in advance.

What makes this particularly frustrating is that we used exactly the same return flight, the same seat and the same booking class as originally booked. There was no visible loss or additional effort for the airline. Nevertheless, a high fee was charged. A subsequent request for goodwill or partial refund was rejected.

The return flight itself was also disappointing: the food was unfortunately inedible, the flight was delayed by around 45 minutes, and due to a remote parking position, baggage delivery was further delayed. As a result, we missed our connecting train in Germany.

Overall, the experience was highly intransparent, customer-unfriendly, and disappointing — especially as we were travelling with an 84-year-old family member and relied on clear and fair communication.

This is not what good customer service should look like.

There should be Negative Rating System for AIr India's International flights at least OR be introduced for them. 70 to 80% of the Flight's in flight entertainment system DOES NOT WORK AS ALWAYS. once you are in you are at the mercy of the Air hostess to serve you at her convenience and you cannot call or alarm them as the flight facility systems… Read more

DOESN'T WORK AS ALWAYS. the staff does not know how to provide Wi Fi system for Passengers. most of the Seats won't recline. The Toilets get blocks quickly. Staff is not bothers what they serve and to whom and if you question they advise its not their responsibility. it's the Passengers duty to keep a check and ask staff. wrong information and announcements. gate opening and gate closing delay. it's my first international flight from Sydney to Delhi and Delhi to Sydney returns and both the flights has same problems meaning they did learn and don't bother about the complaints.

Very True TATA has TAKENOVER Govt Air India in terms of continued worst services and operates AGE OLD AIRCRAFTS and advertised they have changed for GOOD..... Sorry that have changed the Services and Aircrafts from BAD to WORST. but Air fare should be HIGH PREMIUM AS ALWAYS because it's TATA.

thank you Please say TATA (BYE BYE) to Air India and don't fly Air India. IF you really value and respect you Hard earned money....BYE BYE TATA TATA

It’s worse than a budget airline. Meal service on Sydney to Delhi flight was the lowest quality, it was not Indian food, it was sort of frozen food from supermarket but heated up. Tasteless. London to Delhi nearly 10 hours flight didn’t had headphones.

I upgraded my Delhi to Sydney flight to business class and snacks (chicken kebabs were cold), we told the air hostess not to wake us up but another air hostess woke us up.

Frequent flyer mileage was not recorded and when I claimed, it was rejected.

It was my favourite airline (I flew Sydney to Moscow, Sydney to Frankfurt and Sydney to Paris before) until now but not anymore after my experience flying Sydney to London.

when we went to drop our luggage off, we were told that we were not allowed to use the return tickets due to a 'no-show' policy. The fact that we were never told about this and were in fact given information suggesting the opposite is hugely problematic, and the fact that the support staff refused to comment on any of this when asked and instead required us to spend $3500 AUD (over 2 lakh INR) to get new tickets as I stood there with a heavily pregnant wife and screaming baby speaks volumes about how much Air India cares about its customers once it has their money (there were many other customers at the service desk with legitimate concerns who were being completely dismissed by the support staff at the same time as me). Once on the flight half of the entertainment systems weren't working and I had a seatbelt installed backwards.
