Best Indian Airline
Got a choice of seating. A good baggage allowance. Best In-flight entertainment system. Good food on-board. As the name says Maharaja, will never let you starve. The crew was there for assistance all the time. I'm a frequent flyer with this airline and a very happy flyer.
Untrustworthy airline with bad customer service
Our domestic flight from Dharamshala to Delhi within India was cancelled, resulting us missing our international flight back home to Sydney. In order to claim the losses all of this caused we needed a written statement from the airline saying that the flight was cancelled due to "bad weather" which is what they told us had happened. Without this we were unable to claim the extra money we had to pay in re-booking international flights.
After multiple international calls and a call to their call centre in Melbourne, we really didn't get anywhere.... Every single call centre employee was unhelpful with some being unsympathetic. What happened is that no one could solve our issue, so they tell us to call someone else. So we did and that person told us to call someone else and it goes round and round with everyone passing our problem to the next call centre. Eventually someone was clever enough to get me the email of the Dharamshala airport manager where the flight got cancelled and he was able to write us something. But even then the reason was not "bad weather" like the airline told us on the day, it was something mechanical like a "technical snag". How do you expect customers to trust an airline that can't even clear up what exactly happened during a flight cancellation? More importantly how do you expect us to feel safe in your hands? The next time I travel to India, I will be sure to not use Air India. They suck.
Air India call centre service sucks
On 16 Jan 2020, I called Air India's (AI) Melbourne call centre to purchase additional baggage allowance for my bicycle (AI's international checked baggage allowance is a miserly 20 kg only). I kind of suspected it would not end well, and was not disappointed.
Unfortunately I got a heavily-accented fast-spoken person whom I could not understand. In addition, she kept insisting that bikes must travel on a cargo plane, which was wrong. I needed to keep referring her to AI's written policy about carriage of bikes.
Ultimately she could not understa...
Scammers Steal You Money
Booked 2 tickets to Rome from Sydney online 3 months in advance. Something came up and had to either cancel one of the tickets or move the dates for both, so called them to enquire the two options. As soon as I asked if I could cancel one of the tickets, the guy cut me off and said your tickets have been canceled, I said both? He said yes and before I could disputed it and he just hanged up. Tried to ring them again with the Sydney head office number to complain but they never had anyone answer the phone. Wow, just wow! bunch of crooks who steal your money.
Toilets always NOT WORKING and locked out!!
I have (regretfully) flown on Air India flight 301 from Sydney to Delhi about three times till now.
The in flight entertainment system on all extra leg room seats is always not working. The screens on these seats do not even fold out.. Complete junk.
I pressed flight assistance button about six times during the flight... no one ever turns up, ever.
These are minor issues, now read about the real issue
On all three occasions I noted a very cheap act by flight staff. About one hour after take off from Sydney an air hostess will open the toile...t doors for toilets on one isle side and press the basin plunger down and fill it with water. Then she put will some brown color liquid in this pooled water to make the water pooled in the basin visible to anyone who walks in this toilet. Then the air hostess comes out of the toilet and locks the toilet door from outside by lifting the door flap on the outside and sliding the door latch into lock position. This way the flight staff completely lock out the toilets in the flight on one side and tell passengers that these toilets are not working. About 350 to 400 passengers on the flight then have no choice but to use the remaining toilets in the other isle side. There were so many aged passengers and parents with children who were visibly distressed due to lack of toilets mid-air. I refuse to believe that toilets in Air-India flights are always out of order on Sydney-Delhi direct flight. It appears to me that the flight staff do not want to service these toilets hence shut them for the 12 hour journey to reduce their own work.
Money deducted and no ticket Issued.
On 30.08.2019 I did a booking with this beautiful Airline which is the pride of India, but you know what is the consequences is, as I am writing today. I booked for four adult from Mumbai to Nagpur online for Jan 2020 first time it didn't go through after doing net banking and showed error so immediately checked my bank account and no money was deducted. After 30 min did again and this time it went through and money was deducted from net banking and you all will be eager to know what happened and the same error and no ticket was generat...
Pathetic Customer Service. Rude Staff. No notification of cancelled flights.
I would rather walk then fly through Air India again. Pathetic service and staff are so rude. They did not notify me of flight cancellation and made me travel from one city to the other.
In any case, I have decided not to travel through Air India again in future. And I would suggest other not to travel as well. All the staff members are rude. Ground staff is rude. Air staff is rude. Plus its a government owned airlines. It will stop at any time and you will lose your money and time.
Worst Airline experience, never again!
Terrible communications and poor service, not again! Was flying from Kathmandu to Kolkata on the 22nd of April. The flight kept getting delayed and there was no announcement or any sort of information. The Gate no was not provided as well. We kept guessing what was happening. Finally got to know that the Gate no. has been provided from a staff but the same was not announced or updated in the digital boards. When the boarding started, there were two weird vehicles attached to the stairs of the plane, which were basically for another round of sec...urity check. It was so hard to get up in those vehicles as the stairs were steep and my mom and dad who are old, struggled badly. Male security persons were opening ladies purses and searching them so disrespectfully. When I asked what's this checking for, I was not given any answers. The body check was also done in the most disrespectful way and everyone was feeling frustrated. When we finally came onboard, none of the staff or the captain apologised for the almost 2 hrs delay. Everyone seemed as if the flight is on time. Finally landed in Kolkata and many passengers missed their connecting flights because of such irresponsible behaviour of Air India. Never again! Such a shame!

Pathetic flight from Sydney to Chandigarh. Air India should better choose employs who really want to do their job rather than just sitting, Employs working on the ground staff for helping with the wheelchair are very very rude and a gave me a hell lot of harassment for wheelchair on Delhi Airport it was a really bad experience it was my first and last time flying with you, i have used lots of other flights never had any issues & i think other international flights are much better than AIR INDIA. I wanted to rate it with 0 but there is no option so but be safe while booking your flight with air india.
I booked 3 tickets for $4710 to attend my sister wedding which is two days after I arrive to India. When I went to airport for checkin, I was told at the check that the check in has been closed one hour ago. And I have arrived one hour earlier to my flight. I told her that I am here one hour earlier but she was Very disrespectful. No customer manners, so I called air India. They took 50 minutes to answers my call now I have missed my flight. Instead of helping me out this guy asked me that He will change my booking to 3 days after so I told him...what’s the point I can’t attend the wedding. I get a reply saying do you want me to change the booking? It will be $210 for each ticket. So I told him I have already paid for taxi in India, paid all the expenses for the wedding. Now 3 members of the family can’t attend the wedding. He reply saying sorry for that and hang up my call. They have put my family in a big lost. Please never go with air India I will never travel with Air India next time.
Nothing in this world is more useless than Air India Call Centre and Website
When you need to re-book or make changes, nothing works, you can't do it on website, you can't do it by phone. Here is my experience:
1. I called the Call Centre to add a child name to the Adult ticket as you can't book online for a child alone. Call Centre said, "That's not possible. You must go to the ticket office in Sydney". Later I emailed Air India office in Melbrourne and they did it for me by email. So wrong information provided by the call centre.
2. I needed to cancel the return leg of that ticket. I could get to the call centre r...epresentative after 30 minutes. He transferred me to the 'bookings department' and that seems to send the call to a black hole. The call doesn't drop but goes blank. No sound, no response for another 20 minutes, I had to hang up. Called them again, got to the person after 30 minutes of holding and again the same thing. He transferred the call to a black hole! Had to hang up. Again, Melbourne office to the rescue. I emailed them and they did it pretty much immediately. Whereas if you email the regular Airindia webcommerce email id, you get reply after 3 days. 3. I need to re-book the above cancelled ticket (was open for re-use within 1 year). Again the call centre picks up in 40 minutes, then says "You already cancelled the ticket sir, how come you can re-book". I said, "It's open for re-booking. Not refunded". The person lacks basic knowledge of bookings. Then the usual escape route of Air India Call Centre guys. He said, "Surely I can help you. I'm transferring you to our booking support". Then the call goes into a black hole. No sound, nothing, I hang up after 20 minutes. Website is equally useless as you can't do any of the above on their website. Nothing after initial booking. All you can do is alter meal choice and seats etc. But nothing with the booking. They refer you to 'Call Centre' (blackhole) for anything.
Miserable flight journey
The food served in this flight is a disaster. The air hostesses are very rude and you get nervous to ask them for any Help. I was on my way back after my treatment for back pain and requested an air hostess to help me to put my 7 kg hand carry in the overhead cabin, but she refused to do and made me do it which caused my pain to become more severe and struggle all the way during my flight journey. Most of them are impolite and impatient. The only time they smile is when you board the flight and when you get out. I have been extremely dissatisfied and would not recommend anyone to travel with Air India.

Air India Manager and Staff not at all supportive to the passé ger
Travelled on 25 Jul from Bangalore to Kathmandu charged for excess baggage for 5 Kilo I.e INR 4200/- the ground Staff and the Manager at the Ticket counter and the Boarding Pass not at all supportive to the passenger who gives a profit of INR 60,000 in July but more bothered for Attitude and Ego, I guess this is how Air India trains their Staff for not giving good service and beniffiting Air India but losing a valuable customer like me in return Air India gets losses and had to abandoned employees just because of these employees who are happy as long as they r getting their salary but not think for Air India profit at the Bangalore Airport

First class travel from Heathrow to Delhi
I travelled Air India first class from London Heathrow to India, Delhi with my husband. The booking was done online which was very smooth. I chose my seats while booking itself and booked adjacent seats in the middle row with my husband.
On arrival at the airport, we were greeted warmly being first class passengers. Check in was smooth and we were escorted by one of the airline staff to the lounge via priority security check line which was pretty quick.
On arriving at the lounge, we were told that there was a separate section for first class...

Will I fly Air India again?
What started off as a pleasant sunny morning turned out into a day that I wouldn't forget in a long time to come. I’ve been choosing Air India for my trips to Chennai from Moscow ever since Air India revamped its operations a couple of years ago. That’s not only because I’m Indian and am proud to choose an Indian airline, but also because I’m an average customer who appreciates the price-quality balance, not to mention the convenient connections from Delhi.
On the 8th of January 2016 my family (my husband, myself and son) was supposed to de...part by AI430 from Chennai to Delhi to connect to our Delhi-Moscow flight AI155. The flight that was supposed to take off at 10:15 a.m. was delayed to 11:30 a.m, which didn’t seem like a big deal at that time. Our connecting flight from Delhi was at 19:30. Closer to 11:00, the scheduled departure was changed to 2:30 p.m. The reason attributed to the delay was the fog at Delhi which made visibility an issue. We had access to internet and saw that the inbound flight from Delhi to chennai was ready for departure and we might still have made it to our connecting flight, had the flight taken off at 2:30p.m. from Chennai. Jet airways flights to Delhi were plying, whereas Air India still hadn’t announced their departure. At 2:00 p.m., panic-stricken, we approached the staff at Chennai airport and requested them to put us on a different airline to enable us to make it to our connecting flight on time. We spoke to different employees - [names removed]. We were offered no concrete solutions, except that we should fly to Delhi, however late that might be. There were 2 possible solutions in that case (a) The Delhi-Moscow flight would be delayed to accommodate us (6 passengers to Moscow from chennai) and about 50 passengers from Goa to Delhi, bound for Moscow, since both flights into Delhi were delayed or (b) Air India employees in Delhi would put us on a different airline bound for Moscow, if AI155 were to leave for Moscow earlier than our arrival. Finally, AI430 departed for Delhi at 6:20 p.m. leaving us with the only hope that the Moscow bound flight would be delayed for the sake of 50-60 passengers. However, one question still remained unanswered. If the inbound flight from Delhi to Chennai was ready for departure since 11:30, why hadn’t it arrived on time? [name removed] informed us that we were better off than the passengers on the inbound flight, since they were locked up and seated in the aircraft for 3 hours before take-off! Where is humanity? Once we got on the flight, we saw a friend of ours sitting in my husbands’ seat. We thought she might be mistaken with the seat number. However, we were horrified to find out that she had been issued exactly the same seat number under the same name as my husband’s and with the same boarding number. In short, she had been issued duplicate boarding passes for both the sectors and had checked in her baggage through to Moscow in my husband’s name too. Her surname is [name removed] and my husbands, ‘[name removed]. I have photographs of the boarding passes for both the sectors, along with the baggage tags, which may make an interesting sight.
Only good thing about air india is it does nonstop syd-delhi
I flew syd-delhi-syd. Food is served twice in 12 hours and you dont get any service in between. The only option is peanuts and coke/ juice /water and that too you need to manage yourself. So the good old airhostess calling button is of no use. You can try but no one would be coming to serve so please dont expect. Dreamliner is good and i am impressed with the legroom but toilets arent cleaned during the 12 hour flight as air crew thinks its not their job. And usually after 2 hours of flight if you are planning on using toilet just be prepared ...to see mess left by others. I am not advocating that people should leave mess behind but i have seen airhostess ensuring the toilets are clean incase passengers leave it in a mess in all other airlines except air india. To add more i saw a middle age air hostess being rude with passengers. When a lady asked for food as she was hungry from 7 hours she was told to just wait or grab peanuts.
