Take your money, roll it up and burn it, you'll be better off doing that than buying an AKAI television because they are absolutely crap. NEVER, EVER waste your money on this brand.
Akai air conditioner – Had an Akai air conditioner installed by our builder and after much frustration we were approved for a warranty job as we did not and could not the reciept but the serial number seemed to suffice. Unfortunately Akai now tell us they cannot get anyone to look at the job. Our builder is not cooperative so it looks like even though we have a valid… Read more
warranty under Australian Consumer Law Akai will not send anyone out . Once again the Australian consumer is left out in the cold because of a lack of adequate from Consumer Affairs Victoria or the ACCC. I would never use these cheaper brand electronics as both the service and quality don't add up. My builder tells me that all air conditioning units leak when the weather is hot and to run it at a higher temperature which is just nonsense. And I'm talking about the internal unit which has left water marks down our wall. Do yourself a favour and invest in the better quality air conditioning brands .
Bad in sound very irritating – Otherwise not bad but music is like a small 10 dollar speaker Show details
Nothing but problems for 2 years – Within the first month the tv made a pop sound and stopped working. No light, and couldn’t turn it on. I had to get it repaired at the nominated place which was 40 mins from me, and took a week, also the tv is huge so I had to get a van to take it too and from. The Netflix settings worked for months, but then kept a deleting and restoring… Read more
factory settings.
Then remote stopped working, every single button turns off tv, even with a change of batteries.
The screen also goes black sometimes even though the sound is still there, so it’s not off, just has no image on screen.
And lastly, when I turn on the tv, sometimes it puts the volume right up to max, and it takes like 10 seconds for the tv to initialise before I can mute it or turn the volume down
I’ll never buy an Akai ever again. My Samsung tv is 12 years old, and even though it’s not a smart tv, it’s never had any trouble, I’m better off using it with a Chromecast or Firestick.
Terrible TV – It was not very smart with connectivity with apps ,Simply will not .Today the screen went black sound but no picture.Purchased 22 months ago.Steer clear of the Akai tv you will be throwing your money away. Show details
Do not waste your money on it! – This tv is not good value for money! In fact it's a big waste! It's poor connectivity, blurry picture and lack of typical adjustable settings (like brightness) is incredibly disappointing. Not only wouldn't I recommend, I cannot believe such a poor quality item was ever sold by a company such as Harvey Norman. Show details
Good value for the price – Works fine. Limited app functionality and screen cast can be quite device specific. But for what I paid ($250 on sale) I'm very happy with it as a small TV with some smart capability. Show details
Do not buy, it doesn’t connect to streaming services – This TV is terrible. Don’t buy it. It can’t connect to Netflix, Stan, or any streaming service despite what it says. It plays free to air easily but does not work besides that. Do not buy, it’s a waste of money. Show details
How can I screen share in this TV? I tried everything. How to screen share from mobile to TV? – Everything is OK but no screen sharing option. Did everything to share it. Downloaded miracast as well but doesn't work. What can I do? Please suggest. It's very annoying for me. Show details
very bad – Bought brand new , not compatible to ps3, remote not working, talking ages to turn on??????????? not sure what to do? will contact Akai Australia if not fair trading. anyone with better suggestion . Show details
What a heap of junk!! – Smart TV??? Nothing smart at all about this tv! Don’t know why they bothered to include google play on it, won’t work no matter what I try. You can’t use a chrome cast with it! Won’t play Stan, so nothing smart about it at all.... I should have known better though when I saw the android symbol on the box, nothing that’s any good has that symbol on… Read more
it! Just for an example say android built a ladder, you’d need to buy another ladder to get to the first step, anyone that tells me they like android I just turn and walk away, before they try to explain to me how they’ve reinvented the wheel accept for there designs much better.
Do not even think about purchasing an Akai Tv. Awfully bad in every way. Slow and tiresome in every aspect – Not smart. Bearly qualified as a tv. The worst tv on the market. An embarrassment to everyone involved in its production. The remote is useless and very very very slow. Show details
Beware of obsolescence – This model no longer supports some streaming apps like Netflix or Stan. The Airmouse feature on my remote quit after 10 months (workaround - install a mouse and keyboard to navigate browsers and apps). Show details

Disappointed entirely – Unit remote malfunction in first few weeks. Unable to find replacement. Lack of store support from Harvey Norman Australia. Searched the net including eBay for same same replacement but nothing can be found. Television completely useless without remote. Currently have had a large blank plastic box on counter for three months unable to use. Other style remotes useless with this model. AK6519UHDS Show details

Love using catch up on my Akai – I love my new Smart Akai TV. The picture is clear and crisp. The colour is perfect and It's great to have the catch up option so I never have to miss a programme again. I would certainly recommend the Akai TV to anyone who wants a reliable well priced item. Happy with the purchase Show details
Failed for months after buying it normal tv works sort of now can't watch YouTube or Netflix I ran C – Smart junk read the title no need to say more. Can't you tube all apps crash. Gitery clunky interface going to Harvey Norman to get a refund.i hope I get it. I highly advise to stand clear. I'll try the also ones next who knows. I am highly disappointed. And I had to write fifty words describing junk Show details
Failed after six weeks. Long repair time – After six weeks, this TV failed. The power board needs replacing. I called Tempo and it took two weeks to organise a TV repairman to contact me. Fast forward another week and I'm told it will take 14 working days to have a new power board sent from China. Then it has to be repaired. So who knows when I'll get it back? I have a Samsung TV...this was just a cheap TV for the kid's rumpus room. Show details
Couldn't live without it – Wow what a TV. It is so great to sit and watch a show that has a fantastic picture, sound and colour, it feels like I'm sitting in a cinema. For the price it matches those big expensive ones, it has plenty of ports to plug extras into it, I watch that many movies as it feels as if your inside with the action. I just love it would never have been able to afford one of the expensive ones and this one does me just fine. Show details
Great quality for a cheaper price – We have two of these TVs, one in the main room and one in the bedroom and they are HUGE. Run HD movies and 4K video games really well. Great sound. Easy to attach legs. Plenty of HDMI ports. Would be even better if it was a smart tv / wifi compatible (it's not). Highly recommend if you want a huge tv for a cheaper price Show details
Great cheap tv – For a big and cheap tv, I was very happy with the quality. Was buying as a spare TV so took a punt on it without seeing the picture in-store and was more than happy when it arrived. The only annoying thing is the remote control which must be pointed directly at the light in the bottom corner other TV, if you point at the centre of the TV like most people would,l then it just doesn't register. If you want a big cheap 4k non smart TV its gotta be the answer – I purchased this TV after seeing it in Harvey Norman, They put it next to a $8000 LG and it looked poor, But I played with the colours in-store and got it virbrant and it stood up quite well. It is a 2016 model, Doesnt have any smart TV features. Other TVs i looked at were Hisense but it appeared to stutter where as the Akai was smooth motion.… Read more
Only part that I dont like was the 1 year warranty. It upscales 1080p content fine, no tearing and no jittering.

Can't beat it – I recently bought this tv and chucked out my old flat ALDI bauhn tv which was a rip off, and bought the Akai. I found that it wasn't quite as popular but it had everything other competitors had like same ports 4k and similar technology. I am very impressed with the picture quality compared to other companies. The speakers are very good and high quality with sub. So I went for it and never regret my choice Show details
Holds up – Was purchased for me and had for a year, it is a bit glitch-y (other factor may influence this also however) but mostly does the job. Pretty basic with extras and quality but if you're not looking for anything fancy then I would recommend. Works just fine for an everyday television. Show details
Good big TV for price $1000 – This is a LED Tv Picture quality high Foxtel hd and Free to Air HD channels looks amazing Would recommend to buy at this price great buy. Picture as good as expensive high end samsung/LG Only owned it for 6months now..hope will work for many years... Not Smart TV but i use playstaion and xbox one as my smart TV. Show details
Too Good to be True! – Bought 4/3/17 and used daily.Quality for price seemed fine.Unfortunately packed up 20/5/17 i.e. sound remained but picture blacked & could only be restored by powering off & on at power point.Kept happening with varying lengths of time [20 mins-4+hours] Warranty repairman attended & replaced main circuit board but still kept failing.Technician… Read more
deduced back light LED failure & as AKAI don't provide replacements I have to take back to retailer for refund. Can't see any similar sized tv's near the price paid for this one so not impressed by Akai product.BUYER BEWARE!
Love this TV its perfect – I have recently purchased this brand of TV in the 55 inch and its perfect. The TV's picture is amazingly clear sound is excellent and it has more then enough ports and when watching a dvd on this TV the picture is amazingly clear and it is also loud could not be happier with this TV. picture good sound is crap – Will never buy another Akai product The picture is the only redeming feature of this set The real problem existed by purchasing on twenty dollars cheaper than another model The sound is Atrocious The Remote is not ergonomically keyed The balance on two unsubstantial legs is precarious If it was wall mounted this could be overcome Show details
Prefect Cheap TV – The picture is not as crisp as the tv in our lounge room, but this tv is great value. We got it for the kids room and it's great. It's been knocked over twice and drawn on (we really need to hang it on the wall) but it's still going strong. We have not had any issues with the remote, the sound is fine. It's a basic TV but great for the price.… Read more
If you are really picky, spend more and get a Samsung, but I'm very happy with this bargain purchase.
Value – Lot's of value in this purchase. A large high definition TV with a very clean design, nothing too complicated. It's not a smart TV, but it does the job when you just want something to do your own stuff on, e.g. youtube, xbox, movies. I have heard about reliability issues with this TV though, but so far so good. Show details
Good value with a crap remote! – This is a no frills big tv. Not a smart TV but ideal for someone who wants to attach it to a computer or other smart controller. Screen is BIG and looks great. Remote failed in the first few days by becoming intermittent with channel and volume buttons lit up. After four weeks it would not control TV. Harvey Norman in Darwin was unable to replace… Read more
the remote but sold me a generic one at a discount. I wasted hours trying to program it to control TV. In the end I called AKAI Australia direct who sent me a new remote for free.
I would buy the TV Again but probably not fro Harvey Norman as the after sales service was kind of a waste of time.
