AKG N700NC Wireless Headphones
MPNs: GP-N700HAHCEAA and N700NC5 reviews
Awesome sound but very average build quality – Great sounding headphones but cracked on the left hand side speaker arm rendering the headphones useless after 6-7 months use. The headphone have a very poor build quality considering how much I paid for them.
Purchased in for $250.
Cracks? From very light use. Sound is good, but build quality is questionable – I picked these up as part of a promotion when purchasing a Galaxy Note 10+ in Sept 2019 and wanted to love them, and in a way still do. I use it VERY lightly. Less than an hour a week, and treat them very carefully. Today, while in a well lit room I noticed that there were cracks on the plastic hinge points. This is really unacceptable for a premium product that is less than a year old. Otherwise, the build quality feels, and looks great. I still can't believe that it has cracked when I look at it now.
Otherwise the sound quality is fine. My only technical gripe is that the ANC (active noise cancelling) isn't as pronounced and controllable. ie. it can't be switched off or on. When you sync to BT and switch the headset on, it is apparently in ANC mode straight away, so you never get a proper feel of how much better ANC is compared to it just being quiet from sound isolation and padding.
I previously had a pair of Creative Aurvana X-Fi, which eventually cracked along the plastic hinges, but that was after nearly 10 years of much more consistent use. I saw that the design of those older headphones had weaker plastic points, not designed for how modern headphones are put on and off. I thought the AKGs would be a worthy successor. In sound quality and ANC, the leap forward in NC technology between the generations (the Aurvana X-Fi is comparable to the Bose QC15), was enormous. But I guess the build quality hasn't.
From my experience, I wouldn't recommend these, and I wouldn't buy them.
Purchased in at Woolworths Online store for $250.
Headphone are great – Great quality the feel is excellent and don't have a cheap feeling like some others the audio quality is great and the noise cancelling is great and having that button to decrease the noise cancelling is awesome when walking around the streets so some of your senses are still active. Easy to fold up and the battery is pretty good as well
Purchased in for $499.
Cracks appearing – Great headphones but cracks have come out of nowhere. Used gently for less than 6 months. Don’t buy. They are not worth the money they cost. Stick to Sony or Bose.
Purchased in for $199.
Falling apart and developing hairline cracks – As a few other reviews have noted, these devices sound great and look great but suffer from poor build quality and design. I've had my headphones for a few months now, and they're developing the microcracks shown in a few of the other reviews here. I've tried to go through the warranty process to get this issue resolved but I've been told that its due to "wear and tear" and that the headphones do not have any structural defects. There's pieces of plastic falling off the headphones! I can't imagine how much worse these cracks will get after a few more months!
I do not recommend these headphones if you want a pair to last at least a year.
