another failed switch – As others have found, the weak point is the switch, that fails and is impossible to replace. Otherwise, it has worked well for many years.

Absolutely disgusted – Owned H2000S for eight years, done a good job and kept it inside but switch collapsed and this is where the problem started. Despite my very best attempts world wide no new switch could be found. Never even got replies from two direct enquiries to Alko in both Australia and New Zealand. Bernard NZ  Show details

Disappointed – I have owned the ALKO 2400R for some years and agree with the earlier correspondent. The machine is next to useless. I have similar issues but the most infuriating is the number of times it jams, and I spend more time unjamming it than it spends shredding. As this is the first shredder I have owned, although I have used others, I am now looking for a replacement and I will be steering clear of this particular brand.

AL-KO R2400 New Tec – I have had an AL-KO mulcher for 15+ years (H1600S), an absolutely magnificent machine that could handle anything from branches to vines and shrubby material. The switch recently tossed it in, and its replacement is an R2400 New Tec. The most polite description I can give that would be allowed on-line is “useless”. The design of the guide shroud… Read more

over the cutter plate is such that short, shrubby material just builds up and will not feed. It handles straight branches without leaves well, but I don’t have many branches that look like broom sticks. On top of that, the feed chute entry is key-hole shaped and the plunger is round, so there is no way of pushing down the material that goes down the rectangular part of the chute hole. I used to recommend AL-KO to anyone who asked. Not any more. I agree with comments I have seen on other review sites that the R2400 New Tec is not “fit for purpose”. almost nothing almost everything

A great improvement but one small design fault (plastic shell) – This is my second AL-KO garden shredder. I think they are great. The first one failed because its plastic became brittle & small pieces of branches were forced/propelled out through plastic shell creating "security incident". No big deal. Probably my fault as I stored it under cover but afternoon sun may have degraded plastic shell. I now… Read more

cover with shade cloth when not in use. I note latest plastic shell appears to be thicker.

I love shredders – I have this out of control garden, 4 large tumbler bins and another 5 black plastic sleeves. I keep filling them with the shredded weeds and end up with worm rich much to reinvigorate my garden. Best of all as I have solar panels I run it all with the power of the sun smiling on my garden. Its my third Alko shredder now in 15 years Great that it can be delivered door to door and you can find replacement blades on line
