Way too much work to do some simple mulching – Overall this is a good mulcher however there are a few things that are irritating. The output chute is just about on the ground and requires frequent clearing - every 30seconds or so. Having a rod going through the middle of the chute also increases the chance of blockages. This precludes using the bag as build up is even faster. I use a garden tool to clear the chute and a blower to clean up after mulching. This all makes mulching a much lengthier task.

The mulcher really does not handle wet materials well and is even more likely to clog up. Clearing this out takes quite a bit of pulling apart of the machine requiring the use of multiple tools. The chance of losing nuts, bolts, and washers is quite high.

Having used the machine for 6 hours or so I now expect that I have to sharpen the blades and flails. This also requires quite some disassembly using multiple tools. The blades are fairly small and I expect I will need to buy new ones every couple of years.

I probably would not buy this again as it really requires too much effort beyond just mulching.

Purchased in for $1,300.

A real workhorse – I use the GBD601C to mulch and chip a lot of garden offcuts. It is a powerful beast and chews through my household prunings easily. All the mulch and chips go straight into my compost pile and they readily break down. The machine is a serious piece of equipment and does its work well. There are two limitations you should be aware of if you buy one. One is that the exit scope is low down so it requires regular celaring awat when you are using it. The bag that is supplied for mulch collection is OK, but I find it easier to just use a shovel and barrow. The other bug bare is that it is difficult to clear the machine it is gets clogged up with too much, usually too green / stringy, materials. You soon learn what not it likes and doesn't like. Desptie these limitations I am glad I bought it.

Purchased in for $1,300.

Great machine for the price – My machine is identicle to the great bull ,..just a different name , has the 20HP Chinese motor key start... although Chinese, they have been very well designed and built they are effortless and quite easy to use, i would say the very best part is the mulching shoot , it makes fine mulch for the garden . Anyone thinking of buying one, i would say yes.

Purchased in for $1,199.

Excellent bought the GBD601CH – Wanted the one with the Honda motor so bought the H version. Its an awesome Chipper Shredder, does what they advertise, very thick branches and just keeps going and going. Faultless operations and great service received from the shop. Called and discussed my needs and then ordered online. Thoroughly recommend this i have a large residential block with lots of trees that get trimmed regularly.

Purchased in at Kingston Mowers for $1,799.

The perfect chipper/mulcher – Powered by Briggs & Stratton, this Greabtull chipper is one of the best I have used. It’s easy to start, has a big engine and a mulching function as well. I have been chipping thick branches and mulching weeds and palm tree leaves. Took the machine back to the store for a service, they changed the blades and it’s running as good as ever.
