Terrible machine. Cap on water dispenser disintegrated on 3rd use. Bought another one in 2024...same thing happened after 5th use. Show details

Bad product...doesn't perform great plus parts don't last – Within 8 or 9 mos from purchase, the water solution cap on the water tank disintegrated upon touch. This was hard contacting the warranty company too. Show details
Doesn't suck up water – I dosed the carpet with carpet cleaner as per instructutions (pulling backwards with the trigger depressed) and it used most of the cleaning solution. Great I thought. Left of 5 minutes as per instructions on the carpet cleaner solution (Glitz from Bunnings) then tried to vacuum it up. Nothing in the waste water tank of the Aldi cleaner. … Read more
Eventually I used my Wertheim and it sucked up the cleaning solution well albeit at the expense of a new waste bag.
Took it back, didn't suck water up – I bought this, excited to try it on a carpeted room that my cats had made a mess of. I filled it up and cleaned the whole room, it did make it smell a bit better, but then I noticed that there was no water in the dirty water tank, so it must have all just been left in the carpet, with the soap. There was a bit of dirt and gunk that had clogged up… Read more
the suction head so I tried to clean that out and it still didn't do a good job. So Itook it back for a refund.
Waste of money and time – It didn't work well and can't clean the carpet properly. This product is super noisy. Also, I got the product which water bottle tank was leaked. So, It was leaking horribly and damage my floor. Show details
Don't waste your money – Cheap and nasty. This thing is super noisy - you must have hearing protection to use it safely. It puts out quite a lot of water during use then it doesn't vacuum up the excess water very well. My carpets ended up quite soggy and most of the stains stayed behind too. I have used it once (thankfully on a hot day) and then retired it to the tip. Hire a better one or pay a professional. Show details
Does the job – What i loved about this carpet cleaner is its lightweight so easy to carry upstairs. I was impressed as done the job, the end results were in the tank the water was black. The only negative is u are forever filling up the solution tank and it empties very quickly and had to refill afew times but all in all it done a fab job amd can notice a… Read more
difference. JUST A TIP... cleaned my carpet in zoflora OMG IT smells fabulous and got all the dirt out.
Sports bottle cap broke water is gushing out – Water bottle style water tank is cracked causing horrible leaking and damaged my floors. I am unsure if I can get a replacement cap. I just tried using it again and the water is leaking out. Show details
Does the job on both carpet and fabric couch – Works well on carpet to me as I didn’t expect much from a domestic machine. Also tried on a fabric couch and it worked with more effort pressing the head. Show details
Decent Carpet Cleaner – You get what you pay for. Tank is just about around 1.5L and easily gets emptied within a small area. The filter needs to be checked and cleaned often times. Overall, it's a decent carpet cleaner for the price of $99. Show details
Great value and good – Brought one today and cleaned my carpets I was amazed by the amount of first it got out it sucked up most of the water and carpets were dry in two hours Show details
Slow, tempermental, very noisy but it does the job ... eventually – After watching a professional carpet cleaner risk cracking tiles while lugging his heavy contraption up and down our back steps, I decided to save $$$ and pavers after seeing this inexpensive carpet cleaner in an Aldi store. We waited until a warm summer's day arrived just in case there was a prolonged drying process - a good move. We'd… Read more
forgotten to explore any available shampoo products, but a browse on-line revealed several home-made recipes, most based on vinegar, ammonia, a little dish detergent and a dash of our favourite 'essential' oil. We made half a bucket full, and soon several more - 10lt is used up in no time! Our carpet is a wool sisal with occasional brighter patches showing where cat tummy upsets have been sponged away over the years.
After filling the reservoir and clearing away some furniture, I turned it on. I should have turned it off right away and found some hearing protection - this thing is NOISY!
The cleaning mix only flows when the trigger is pulled, and pulled hard. On the first run, this worked OK, however it did flow in distinct wet lines as the machine is pulled back, which, in the end results in cleaned and uncleaned parallel lines across the carpet. With the reservoir emptying rather quickly, it didn't seem wise to repeat the wetting runs more than once or twice, however I did several vacuum runs even though the first seemed to be the only one extracting any dirty water into the clear plastic hopper.
The reservoir empties quickly despite seeming to only wet the carpet in narrow parallel strips and the catchment hopper fills quickly - it's probably smaller. While both are fairly easy to fill and empty, the hopper does have a mesh filter that, in our case, needed rinsing thoroughly each time.
After a couple of hours mixing up the 'shampoo', doing noisy cleaning runs, refilling the reservoir and emptying the hopper, we'd cleaned about 1/4 of a large family room - the most trafficked part at least - and a few door mats. Despite the very dirty water in the hopper, the results weren't all that obvious since the carpet was still dark from the remaining dampness. And I was deaf.
However, leaving the doors open over the next warm day or two, it dried out thoroughly and the evidence of cat accidents and heavy traffic marks have gone. The clean/unclean stripes still remain in places where I didn't repeat a wetting run slightly offset from the first. Another shampoo run, maybe across the carpet in the other direction, would no doubt remedy this.
Cleaning out the machine is best done on a sunny day as well, since internal hopper compartments are probably best dried thoroughly in the sun before reassembling and storing away.
Overall, not a complete waste of money and time, and it's ready to go any time a carpet suffers a spill. It cost less than a professional cleaning visit, but they would have done at least 2 rooms for the same price and left the carpet a lot drier afterwards. I'm not inclined to call for another professional job unless I can ensure it's done without a lumbering contraption.
However, this model is slow, needs multiple dampening runs, doesn't vacuum up water very thoroughly and is as noisy as a taxiing 737. With the doors open, we were expecting neighbours to pop in and ask us to take a break. This Aldi (Stirling) model appears on-line to be re-badged by other appliance manufacturers, so it can be more expensive when sold as another 'brand', in which case this was a good price for the same unit.
One problem, possibly with just this unit, was the water not always running out when the trigger was pulled. Reseating the reservoir tank firmly several times seemed to fix this, but it was annoying since it seemed well set in the seal/valve and locked in tight each time. Manually pressing the outlet seal, with the reservoir off, immediately released water and the water control valve visually responded to the trigger.
While handy for some, I can't really recommend this model as the answer to everyone's carpet cleaning problems. With time, patience, decent hearing protection and the right weather, this might work out as an satisfactory carpet cleaning solution even for me.
Easy Home Aldi Carpet Cleaner IA0850 – I should of researched this before buying. I found the carpet cleaner easy to use . The suction to pull the water up is terrible. It only pulled up less than 10 % of the water that it put out onto my carpet. It is very noisy and you would need to wear hearing protection to use. The amount of water left behind could potentially cause mould to form under carpet given the long period of time to dry.
Not great out of the box, but usable – Bought this as it was cheaper than a professional and not much more than hiring one. And, of course, if it was rubbish I could take it back. Well, I haven't taken it back yet, but... It's best to understand a bit about how these work first. There is a clean water tank on the upright (holds 1.8L), and as you pull the trigger it slowly bleeds… Read more
down tube into a spray head near the suction head. Pull the trigger as you move backwards to leave a trail of water on the carpet and then go over it a few times to suck the residue up.
Repeat a few times.
The water that is sucked up goes through a lint filter, through the impeller and out into the discharge tank (approx 1.5L), where the dirty water is collected. Exhaust air comes out another small filter in the top of the discharge tank. The clean tank can optionally have some detergent in it, a small squirt of dish soap is probably fine, and I think warm water probably works best.
OK, now for the review:
The good - It's quite easy to use and it does actually clean the carpet (eventually)
The bad - Out of the box it's got a few annoying flaws that could have used a bit more design thought:
- Like all upright corded vacs, the cord just ALWAYS gets in the way. But then I hate uprights at the best of times.
- It sprays water onto the carpet no problem, but it struggles to suck up about the last 30-40% of it. That's a lot of water to stay in the carpet. Interestingly, I discovered once the discharge tank is full it sucks better: hence if you add a bit of weight (2-3 kg) to the front of the machine it works a lot better. Unfortunately the curved design doesn't make this easy to achieve.
- It has an inexplicably tiny lint filter: about 2x5cm. Even with a prior vacuum of the floor, this filter clogs very quickly and needs constant cleaning for the cleaner to work properly. Like, every few minutes.
- The trigger for spraying the water is a little stiff and wouldn't be suitable for anyone with arthritis, carpal tunnel, etc.
- It takes a long time to clean anything. Don't expect to be able to clean your whole house with this, unless you give yourself a week to do it. 3x3 room took me about 2 hours to clean properly, but it did do a nice job.
- It's loud. If you're going to spend a couple of hours using the machine, I strongly recommend hearing protection.
- It can't be used for upholstery
- I wouldn't use it for thick/lumpy messes (say, animal or infant mess). A wet/dry vac would work better for that.
The ugly - This cleaner doesn't have much of an exhaust filter. Unfortunately (and somewhat surprisingly) it seems to throw a lot of fine dust particles into the air as an asthmatic in the house gets very wheezy when it is in use.
