dog hair) in the dirty water tank and they're impossible to clean properly if they don't come apart.
There's also easy access to the roller brush from the top of the unit.
The three year warranty is impressive and there are also spare parts available for all of the unit's major components.
A couple of things to be aware of. The clean water tank is significantly larger than the dirty water tank, so you will need to empty the dirty water tank more often. If you're looking at cleaning a whole room, you will need to refill the clean water tank a couple of times as well.
As with any cleaner of this type, you need to go over the area you've just cleaned without spraying to extract as much fluid as possible from the carpet. It's recommended that you then go over it with plain water to remove the solution residue, which can become a dirt magnet if left. If you're like me and wondered what "heat force" means on these types of units, it means that the warm exhaust air is directed towards the carpet to help speed drying time.
I found that the sample cleaning solution included foams a lot. You can reduce this with defoamer but a teaspoon of salt works just as well.
I'm extremely happy with this purchase and it was well worth the $30 more than it would have cost me to replace the Vax. Hoover currently has a redemption deal where you get a free bottle of solution if you buy the unit from certain retailers, which will offset the extra cost.
I like it – Did a good job, used once so far, takes a bit of getting used to. The handle keeps popping out of the wand though so maybe faulty. Overall happy I bought it for ease of cleaning carpets and rugs. Show details

I also like the simple range of Hoover cleaning solution. I previously used a Bissell spot cleaner. With the Bissell products you have an individual product for everything. I like that Hoover offer a larger bottle of carpet cleaning solution with oxy-boost already mixed in so I only have to buy one bottle and add a small amount to the clean water tank.
So much better than the fatigue of getting down on all fours with a spot cleaner/upholstery cleaner. I can run this over a large carpeted area multiple times and just keep going.
The smell of the solution is pleasant and not overpowering. It smells just “clean”.
Also the ease of taking the unit apart to empty, refill and clean is second to none. Upholstery cleaners/spot cleaners can make a huge mess if you’re not careful!
With this Hoover I can confidently slide out the waste water tank and walk across the house with it without the fear of the container opening and spilling because everything stays locked in place nicely when you want it to and opens up when you need. Press the release, slide it out, un-clip the cover and dump the content down the drain. Clip it back down, slide it in and get back to cleaning.
The only problem I have with the product is the sheer volume of solution it drinks. Don’t expect to do a larger area with this unit without having to refill the clean water and solution container multiple times. I have a large carpeted area in the lounge and I really lost count of the number of times I refilled it.
I will say that it was a while since it was last cleaned so it’s not unexpected that it was going to be a big job but I still feel that it does use a lot… perhaps more than necessary, one could argue, but the overall result is so good that I can look past that. Cheaper than calling in a “professional”, after a couple of cleans the machine pays for itself.
Made absolute mincemeat of some big stains on the carpet. Completely got all the gunk and stains out of my rug.
Dries very quick as well because it sucks a lot of the water out as it goes, so the rest dries very quickly.
Good investment!

but the Powerdash brought it back to life first time. The carpets are much fresher, look cleaner and they are absolutely dry well within an hour. The Powerdash also comes with a 3 year warranty. From our experience it is difficult to find anything negative or problematic about this appliance.
