I had the top of the line Bissell that cost me a fortune. After a short time it stopped working. Bissell replaced it for me with a new one. Several months later and only after using it twice it again stopped working. The Bissell technician told me… Read more

it's a factory defect. They offered me another replacement. 3 years later, and only after using it 3 times, it again failed. It was out of warranty by then, so I called Bissell and explained to the woman the situation from the start and wanted to know what to do. The woman was abrupt and rudely reminded me that it was out of warranty etc. In frustration I put it in the bin and swore never to buy Bissell again. Then one day when I was vacuuming with my Hoover upright vacuum cleaner that had served me well without issues for over 10 years, it occured to me 'maybe Hoover makes carpet cleaners'. So, last week, after researching several brands, I bought the Hoover Powerscrub XL. What a fantastic machine. It cleaned well, it was easy to fill and clean and $200 cheaper than the nightmare Bissell I had. Anyway if it's as reliable as my Hoover vacuum cleaner, then I will be very happy. PS. Hoover offers a 3 years warranty whereas Bissell is only 2 years warranty, something to consider when buying. Another important point to mention is the suction power. Bissell has an 800 watt motor compared to Hoover's powerful 1200 watts motor, both deciding factors for me. Having used both Bissell and Hoover, I definitely see a big difference with the Hoover's power suction, nearly filling up the tank with dirty water and leaving the carpet almost dry, whereas from my experience Bissell didn't have the same power-suction as evidenced by the half filled dirty water bottle and the residual wet carpet. Overall, I'm very happy with the Hoover and I highly recommend it.

Follow-up  · The carpet cleaner has been great but could be much better if hot water instead of warm was used. Unfortunately according to Hoover only warm water must be used to avoid damaging the machine.

Easy to assemble. Great suction for cleaning. Lightweight to use. All of the parts are removable and easy to clean, even each of the scrub brushes. Used a fine tooth comb to pull dog hair from brushes. Very happy with my 2nd carpet cleaner. First one was a used Hoover. Nice to have larger water tank because you can go over the heavily soiled carpet areas. Bought it for $100 dollars brand new. Show details

I bought this a couple of days ago as my other carpet cleaners seal broke so after many years of use l decided to buy another one. I checked all the reviews and decided this model was the one. I have 4 dogs and with little accidents my cleaner gets used a few times a year. I loved the big tanks and had plenty left over after doing 2 bedrooms and a… Read more

lounge. I had some good Staines that came back even after shampooing with my old one. After using the Hoover l pulled it apart to clean everything l could. I couldn’t clean the brushes properly that was a little disappointing but pulled out what l could. I thought it did a pretty good job itself but the cleaning solution didn’t impress me at all and it’s quite expensive compared to others. I loved the long cord and wrapped around without falling off, plenty of room. It comes with plenty of accessories and a hose for stairs which l was impressed with. I would have given it 5 star but the cleaning solution let it down. I do recommend this cleaner. Pictures show it apart after cleaning, very easy to operate. I bought it at Bunnings for $276.

Bought this shampooer last Friday to use it over the weekend. Had Bissel before and was quite disappointed with the last machine we had, especially as it was double the price than this Hoover. Used it in 3 rooms, it does an excellent job and is super easy to keep clean. The brush underneath judt pops out with pushing a couple of levers. Compated… Read more

to the previous machine we had this is much more hygienic.

If I had to be critical about anything, thenit would be the noise. It's a high pitch whistle noise which can cause a headache, lucky I have decent noise cancelling headphones.

Overall, great machine, worth the money!!!

Overall this is a great quality carpet cleaner. We have used bissell carpet cleanera in the past but in many ways the hoover does a better job. The manual controls may be an advantage over the other models. The carpet takes a while to dry but it does a decent job at not leaving it soaking wet. Show details

I bought this machine to replace a Bissell that died. I’m so glad I did. It works faster and easier than the Bissell, and emptying and cleaning the machine takes me quarter of the time it did with the Bissell. As far as brands go, I assumed Bissell was the premium choice, but after using both brands, I’d choose Hoover every time. Show details

Hoover Power Scrub XL is partially effective in high carpet areas and very deep stains – Purchased this PowerScrub over a month ago. Due to the excitement of this acquisition, i have used this machine at least 15 times as the weather was warm and allowed a much quicker dry time. We have a few pets that have caused all sorts of accidents on the carpet and we do not wear shoes inside. Quite a cost effective carpet cleaner when… Read more

comparing the numerous products in the current market. The Hoover Power Scrub XL has circular rotating brushes, which is different to the conventional roller type brushes. I like this unit because it also has the spot cleaner hose for couches, mattress, car seats and the pet bed.

The first picture with the PowerScrub i have attached is of a high traffic area with a relatively dark stain patch. As you can see, after numerous passes with the correct Hoover cleaning solution and water ratio, the central area of the stain has been removed, however, the outline is still present. The original stain was much darker, to the credit of this machine, it is a lot lighter though. You will also notice that the PowerScrub has struggled to remove the dark stains of the high traffic areas as well.

The second picture i have attached is another big stain in a bedroom. Once again, after numerous passes with the correct Hoover cleaning solution and water ratio, the central area of the stain has been removed, however, the outline is still present. The original stain was much darker, to the credit of this machine, it is a lot lighter.

I have attempted to focus on the outlined areas several times, changing the direction of the clean and even spending extra time on the darker outlined areas but i have accepted the fact that the outlined areas are far too deep for this machine to handle.

Don't be swayed by the cheap outer plastic feel, the performance still surpasses the build quality. The main outer components can be removed and cleaned under a tap. I love this feature. Yes you will spend at least 30 minutes after your carpet clean, to clean the machine components, but it is easy to do.

If you have carpet, before you pay hundreds of $$$ for a professional cleaner, invest in something like this PowerScrub, guaranteed to give the carpet a decent clean.

Blown away! – I bought this carpet cleaner today based on the positive reviews. I went in to purchase and it was $399, however I received it for $299 with a price match! This is the 3rd carpet cleaner I have purchased over the years and it’s absolutely blown my mind for the price. The suction was tremendous, it was actually hard to push at times. The bucket… Read more

was disgusting by the end, it had sucked up so much gunk. Really easy to clean and left my carpet only slightly damp, which is a huge improvement to the bissell I had previously.

I would 100% recommend this to others, I am taking it to my boyfriends house tomorrow as I don’t think his carpet has been cleaned since the 90’s!

Fooled by "Heatforce" – Washing and suctioning work fantastic. However, "Heatforce" technology is not doing its job. The carpet is still wet and cold next day, no matter how hard excess moisture is suctioned. The box didn't include a detailed user manual, so I had to call the customer support to make sure I was using it the right way. They say "Heatforce" is not really a… Read more

heat treatment - it just puffs out warm air while suctioning, and the carpet is expected to be cold after wash.
