Compact Composter – Purchased from Aldi. Unlike several reviewers I found the item relatively easy to put together by carefully following the provided instructions. Relatively sturdy and functional composter, particularly given the bargain discounted price. One reviewer noted that the central axle rusted over a 14 month period of time. This is not unexpected given… Read more

Not that hard to assemble – I am 65. Had my moments in the assembly but in the end it all aligned for me and it looks great . Size is good for small apartment garden. I understand about the clips, I swore a few times but nothing broke. You get what you pay for. Show details

Rusted out centre axle after ~14 months – I purchased 2 of these about 14 months ago and although they work well and have produced good compost the metal centre 'axle' in 1 has nearly completely rusted away and in the other one there are signs of it not lasting much longer also due to rust. The tubing they used for the centre axle is much too thin-walled. When I get time I'll source some… Read more

thicker walled tubing and give both composters a new lease on life.

Believe it or not the attached photo is all that remains of the 'axle'

Compact, useful, good for small town house – I purchased this composter in early May 2023. It took 30 minutes for me to put together, I did get a little help with some of the clips and it can be a bit tricky. Using the picture on the box helped, along with the instructions. But it turned out the clips required a certain angle to be clipped in and they just glide in. I found this out after… Read more ·  1

trying to force some of the clips in and they only need to be on a tiny bit of an angle and they don't go in. The sliding door is quite tight and I often need two hands to open the door. I added a lot of fruit to it and the fruit flies fly in and out of the holes. This attracted a cute little frog who sits on it every night. I read other peoples reviews and decided if the screws rust, I can replace them with better quality versions. Overall, I am very happy with the composter.

easy to build despite some previous reviews – bought two of these tumbling composters today. Assembled them late this arvo. I don't understand why so many people have complained about assembling them. Personally I had no problem putting them together and don't understand the negative reviews regarding this. I am going back for another two. Show details

Easy setup great for beginners – At first I was skeptical because of the price and seeing how other composters are priced but we took a shot and I assembled it in about 20 mins. I had one piece with a plastic clip broken but that wasn't really an issue. Started using it today with no problems except that small materials like cooked rice etc can fall through the tiny vent holes but I just won't use cooked rice anymore. Show details

Seems like it will be OK – Bought it unused but assembled in a garage sale. I put in about 3 litres of activated compost and worms from my big heaps, some used cat litter (wee'd not poo'd) and some veggie and fruit scraps. Looks like it will work OK to me but then it only cost 10 bucks and was already put together. Show details

The WORST product i have bought in 60 years - Gardenline Single Tumbling Composter – Gardline - Single Tumbling Composter - Aldi code 17180 This product is shoddily made & It does not fit well together. Had to use a soldering iron to melt away all completely un-fitting hatch/slide piece. as Interlocking pieces did not fit well together.. Absolutely pathetic design that also is a dust and dirt collector. The outside of the tumbler… Read more

has all these impressed or indented shapes that are a collector for all kinds of rubbish, dirt and spider web construction is full ahead steam and adds to its unpleasing aesthetic look, so woeful.

The instructions are obviously written by a Chinese person who does not explain or have very good understanding of the English language, poorly scripted. steps to follow & diagrams even less flattering. There were soo many parts left as spares, green clips are supplied as extras as these clips hold the sides together break very easily due to poor design and quality of the plastic type used.

I could go on with much more "Cons" that i find "Pro"s for this woeful unit. What's even more pathetic about this unit is that you claim powder coating is great, and it is, but to be let down by screws and supporting brackets, 3 months and all will be rusted. I mean really? These rusted screws then start the powder coat to fail and rust will appear under the coating in less than 3 months. Why not use steel coated screws, zincalume to name but one, using Stainless Steel would be better as an example. I mean what do want a product that's all rusted out & looks shoddily to boot.

All in all, this product is the worst product I have EVER purchased, i have taken pictures of this poor excuse as an outdoor unit pfffft.c I intend to display in full, on social media, how crap this product is, I was even lucky enough to be in the store to warn other people of buying this obviously flawed products huge failings, saving both their money and wasted time putting a flawed shadily worked product. together.

I rang the 1800 number on the direction sheet only to get an Asian voice that i could barely understand and when i asked for her manager/Supervisor she hung up, i mean really? So i rang back again, the 1900 number, to ask to speak with a manager, I gave my mobile number for the manager to call me back, still waiting to hear from them, not surprising actually!

So all up, this has been a lousy experience with a piece of crap supposed Composter, do you think they might take the plastic back and melt it down to make something USEFUL and the steel sold as scrap metal, My opinion that's all its good for, to be made into another more friendly useable piece of equipment or toy that actually functions AND looks good, AND wont rust, a dismal failing of Gardline, so sad Thank you

Nice product. Not easy to assemble – Assembly diagrams hard to match with instructions. Took about one hour and twenty minutes to assemble which is under the two hours it said would take. Hope it was worth the effort. Show details

What are people complaining about? – I purchased this compost bin and found it easy to assemble with no manufacturing issues, and without breaking a single clip. For the people that find the instructions challenging, looking at the picture on the box will help. It took 30 minutes to put together. For the value it's great, the alternative is bunnings where a similar unit is 4 times the price. Very happy with the purchase. Show details

Some people! – We put this twin tumbler composter together without instructions, but without problems either. (Thanks Mum for losing the instructions!). I broke a couple of clips but quickly figured out 'how to' without breaking any more, and there were ample spares to cover my breakages. As some reviewers have complained, we also had the issue of getting to the… Read more

final tumbler connection, and finding it offset, but I discovered that we'd placed a panel on upside down as we went. After rectifying OUR mistake, everything went together perfectly. The (hex) ends went onto the tumbler squares easily, snapping into place beautifully. It was fairly easy for us to work out which parts went where, even without the instructions. THEN, I read the reviews! Some people can be harsh! All the complainers here show that it is difficult to make things idiot-proof, but I think that this is pretty close. Unless this (which I see now is discontinued) was re-engineered in it's final years of manufacture, I can't see what all the one-star reviews are about. How can ours, which fitted together perfectly in the end, be the only one in history to fit together perfectly? I like the final article, and enjoyed the process of assembly, but then I also enjoy Sudoku! Now, I'm going to pop in some CHEWing GUM, and WALK out to inspect the composter again, feeling quite smug. Thanks Aldi and Gardenline. FIVE-STARs

Products works well, but absolute lack of support from ALDI – I had no problem assembling and using my composted for a while but, due to bad design, one of the doors on mine broke. I asked to purchase a replacement, and they have no parts and asked me instead to search a well-know Chinese website! Very disappointing, as any product is only as good as its weakest part. Show details

Great value composter! – Such a good little composter! My dad pucahsed this from Aldi for me Sep 2019. Pros: 1. It will fill quickly as the chamber is not as big as the larger ones but I have found that an advantage. 2. It composts beautifully in warm weather in 12 -14 weeks you will have a great batch of compost for your veggie patch. 3. As it is not overly 'huge' when… Read more

it is full and brewing, you can turn it every week (or couple of days if you want to get the aeration process going quicker). 4. When it is full, it is so much easier to turn than bigger dual batch systems! It glides around and around quietly and doesnt take much effort. This is significant if you are not strong ( I am female in my 30s but do have a shoulder injury) so the smaller compost I am using more than a bigger one. To get the compost out I found a paint tray with a lip the best. Slide it under the door, tip down to teh ground and your magic garden potion will come out easily!

in with my spur of the moment purchase. My feeling is there was a fault with the product which they have fixed (as I see some have been able to put it together) - but they are just selling of off the faulty line on sale. Tried calling the 1800 269 981 help number and there was a recorded message that they are not available due to "unfortunate circumstances"

Absolute rubbish - a waste of hard plastic – Got some great information on here re using cable ties instead of the garbage green clips, but still could'nt get this thing together. Going back to Aldi partially dessembled. My mother bought the same product 5 years ago, and Aldi have not modified any of it!!! Cheesed off customer here. Got there in the end – As I had lost the manual I was googling this product and my heart sank when I saw the reviews. However the person who said to soak the clips in hot water - thankyou! None broke! It all went together OK, was fiddly but doable. I am looking forward to using it now. Also thankyou to the person who gave the Aldi phone number and product number as they emailed out the manual straight away. Yay the internet :) Show details

Aldi Gardenline compost tumbler – A month or so ago I bought a single barrel Gardenline tumbler from Aldi. Very difficult and challenging to assemble, poor instructions and clasps. Sorry I bought it – I know why this was marked down.. My son took 3 hrs and most of the clips broke luckily I had some Cable Ties or he would have given up. Works for me – At half the price of similar products I wasn't too perturbed that it was a pain to put together. But following the instructions, everything fitted perfectly. My food scraps and plant material breaks down beautifully and I have nice free fertiliser for my garden. To empty the bin, I just place a tray under the unit and open the door. I like that it doesnt take up a lot of room and rodents can't get into the bins.  Show details

Assembling nightmare – I had to ask for help to put this together; that's never a good sign when you need assistance. it's holding together so far. The only other thing that I would suggest from the manufacturer, would be to include better instructions on how to use it etc. instructions relevant to that particular type of composter. Sadly, I would not recommend purely for the frustration value of putting it together.

Impossible to put together – I cannot assemble this as one of the panels has edges that will not fit with the adjacent panel... a manufacturing problem, not an assembly problem. In addition there were five fewer clips than needed and clips kept breaking. Very disappointed. I will be reulcant to ever buy an Aldi product again.  Show details

Gardenline twin tumbling compost – I was so disappointed in this twin tumbling compost bin , it wasn’t cheap and it wasn’t easy to put together, I followed instructions and the clips kept braking, I eventually ran out of clips and couldn’t finish it. Sorry Aldi... you disappoint me and I am a strong fan of yours – As per most other reviews this is a pretty ordinary piece of equipment. I am up to, but am not going to waste any further time on it) I am sure the company that made it got their staff in and gave it a good go of putting it together properly, they should have picked up someone off the street to see how they handled it. Interestingly, this will be my 3rd Gardenline product that I will be returning in the past 5 months. We were recommended their hose spray gun and bought 2...for front and back hoses both brilliant, until a week later and one of them somehow broke internally and it lost its trigger locking device (a great selling point for someone with arthritis) Then a couple of weeks ago we saw a new 'improved' model that seemed more sturdy; so in we went again. It is just a shocker compared to the remaining original purchase that is still working fine... almost strangely... BUT my 65 inch Bauhn TV is almost 3 years old and going gangbusters.. so I am not biased in any way... The big boys annoy the crap out of me!

UPDATE : took it back today no receipt. I paid on credit card and could show them the debit against by card and the date of the purchase and they tracked it back thru their system and did not hesitate to credit me. Lesson learned.... PHOTOGRAPH ALL YOUR RECEIPTS AND KEEP THEM IN A FILE ON YOUR PHONE!!!
