Good looking unit for the price but it will not cut lawn lawn like Santa anna or Casablanca. I mow every week but any setting beyond the second highest grass setting causes the machine to die and turn off after ripping up lawn before it shuts off. Then need to wait a minute before it works again. My lawn gets mowed every week and is in good condition. This mower is only good for light cut which makes a mockery of the 7 height settings. The mower is good pity I can't say the same about the batteries and charger. I won't be buying again due to the battery and charger letting the mower down
Need to replace both batteries where can i do this Show details
Battery warranty is 1 year. I have had the mower 3 years and it cuts wonderfully. Nothing stops it BUT the batteries have been fading over time and now I need to recharge 1-3 times per mow. Replacement batteries cost as much as a new mower. In different minds, will I replace the batteries, the whole mower (there was stock I noticed last week) or bite the bullet and buy something else. Pros: Light, quiet, manoeuvrable, cuts reasonably well. Cons: The back left wheel fell off after 2 minutes on the flat. Won't click back in. Came that way, you don't need to asssemble the wheels. Reflects build quality. Build quality = 1 star; the rest 3 star. Returned it the same day. :( Show details
Worth the price – Its cordless design is very convenient, and the included battery delivers consistent power for small to medium-sized lawns. The adjustable cutting heights let you tailor your lawn’s appearance, while the lightweight build makes it easy to operate. A reliable and budget-friendly solution for keeping your yard in top shape. Thank you!
A Positive Experience with an Aldi battery powered mower – Aldi had these mowers on sale for $249.00 but the Minister for War & Finance (MFW&F) said "NO" to the purchase. We live in a rural setting on 73 acres of land and most of my mowing is done with a 54Inch cut zero turn mower or a tractor mounted mulcher We also own an Electric Vehicle (A nice Volvo that we have grown to love) & three petrol powered… Read more
(older) mowers, so a battery powered mower wasn't a "must have" purchase beyond the novelty value. Fast Forward a couple of weeks and my local Aldi had reduced the price of the mower to $150.00. Still a no from the WFW&F until I explained that we already had a range of Aldi tools (Drill, grinder, 2 vacuum cleaners, screwdriver) that would run on the batteries & charger included in the box and it would be a saving of around that price if I were to buy separately. ( I am a bit of a sucker for Aldi Special Buys) So the mower comes home with me. Un boxing & assembly was a breeze, about 20 minutes for me, and I have trouble with instructions. Batteries had some charge and we have a couple of small areas of lawn that we do mow with a push mower on a regular basis, so it was off for a quick run. Initial evaluation: Light unit, easy to handle. No fuel required. Cut a section of short Kikuyu lawn with ease. Then moved onto a longer section & that was handled easily. Darkness fell. Our property is flat with a variety of grasses (native & exotic) Back on the mower this morning: PLUSSES * Cuts neatly- good finish * Cuts well in a variety of grasses. * Grass catcher easy to attach to mower and empty * Quiet * No fuel or oil required (no messy refills or servicing) * Light & very easy to maneuver into tight spots * A nice experience. MINUSES: * Limited capacity in grass catcher. Only a round 3 or 4 minutes to fill in heavy grass, although the finish on short lawns without a catcher are very acceptable (similar to the finish with a mulcher/mower) * Battery life is as expected, around 30 minutes OVERVIEW & RECOMMENDATIONS: Obviously this is not a mower that will suit my conditions as the time taken to maintain our areas we currently mow would take me 12 to 20 hours with this mower & require many batter changes / charges. However, if you own a small suburban block, this could be the mower for you. Quiet, good finish, easy to handle & almost free to run ( would estimate less than 2 cents to charge the batteries) If you own other Aldi battery tools, this product is a bonus as half the cost at full price is for the batteries (which, less face it, sit unused in the drill etc most of the time). Definitely worth looking at if you fit the criteria.
Have to buy more batteries and double charger – Used the Lawn Mower and it works well, started doing the lawn and batteries run out 40 minutes later. Charging both batteries takes approx. 3 hours, very inconvenient unless your lawn takes less than 30 minutes. Now I have to buy a double charger and 2 new batteries, Ferrex should have customers convenient first. Show details
Good overall, but not worth anything without battery support – The mower itself has been an excellent workhorse; when used it was exceptional with even very tall and hardy grass. Very powerful, very good cut. However one of the batteries has failed which makes the mower useless unless I can have a good battery set. There were two batteries, both 2.5Ah, definitely wish they had more amp hours though, but it… Read more
was still a reasonable running time, even though I would have liked it to be longer.
Both batteries are required to be of similar charge and condition. We NEED access to suitable battery replacement and/or warranty on batteries that fail too soon, citing Australian Consumer Law (ACL) over the sub-standard "1 year warranty" period; 1 year is not suitable for the warranty, especially without access to replacement batteries, hence ACL needs to come in to play here.
Sensational small mower!!!! – Absolutely Fantastic!!! Wow what a great little mower. So light to push but still gutsy.picks up grass quite well.comes with 2 X 4amp batterys.as usual with all ALDI products Show details
Big performer small price – I have owned a few battery mowers in last twenty years, including a very good Stihl, and the Aldi product is the best and cheapest of them. The mower seems well put together and mows great. It is easily assembled out of the box in about ten minutes,no tools needed. It is a pleasure to use, very light and easy to manoeuvre around trees and shrubs.A… Read more
minor criticism-you need both small batteries in the mower to work it and the charger only charges one at a time. Also I only get about 20 minutes running before it runs out of charge with batteries showing about 50 to 60%,maybe the grass a bit long.
Easy to maneuver, quiet and effective – This mower is excellent for average size lawns that are mowed on a regular basis. I mowed front and back gardens on 425m block 3 times before batteries needed recharging. Great range for grass length. Easy lift off catcher and light and easy to use. Wipe down , brush off and fold down handle makes for easy storage. No worry about waking the neighbours with this impressive battery operated mower. Show details

Know better, choose better.
Perfect for any lawn – I have a difficult block to mow, mostly very steep which is hard to push a petrol mower up, and some flat areas. This mower from ALDI is awesome. One set of twin batteries does the lot, petrol mower sits idle in the shed. Plus the batteries fit their range of cordless hedge trimming and pruning gear. Well done ALDI.! Show details
great mower easy to use – The mower is easy to start and run perfect over all it is good.
It’s actually good! – I’m the last person to write a review or even use a lawn mower but I have to say this is awesome! Show details
Really easy to use. Starts easily but – This is in essence an easy to use, light and quiet mower. The only problem has been that the "4.0 ah" new generation batteries don't last very long when mowing. I have used the older Aldi mower which used the earlier generation 4.0ah batteries, it was more than capable of cutting my lawn on one charge. Sadly the newer Ferrex mower generally cuts… Read more
out about half way and stalls fairly easily in thicker grass, even on higher settings. Part of that issue is the design of the chute that cut grass has to exit from, it clogs pretty easily and makes hard going for the motor as it struggles to push the clogged grass.
Aldi Ferrex Pro lawn mower is great budget mower for small to medium yards – I always have petrol lawn mowers. When one broke I always was looking for another petrol replacement. Then they start getting more expensive. I started entertaining the idea of the eclectic one. In the process of thinking I moved the house. The new house has smaller yards. Now I have two 10 square metre yards. My current lawn petrol lawn mower is… Read more
around 5 years old and it started leaking oil from the bottom of it, where the cutter is. I progressively was becoming a good candidate to trial an electric mower. Coincidentally, Aldi had their sale for gardening things which had the lawn mower kit at a reasonable price. I caved in. Here is small video for those who like unboxing things: https://youtu.be/jKoQChNhTpk The assembly. All straightforward, no gotchas, no complexity, all went to the plan. No special tools required. The kit had a charger and 2 x 4Ah batteries. I charged them and was ready to go. As per manual, push the button, pull the lever and off it goes. I managed to cut front and back yard grass all in one charge with around 25% battery left. Cutting is easy, quiet and intuitive. However, not all good news there. So, here are points to consider if you’d like to move from petrol to electric mowers:
The not so good: 1. It is less powerful and will struggle in long, tough grass. It will also struggle in the low grass cutting setting. 2. It is smaller than the average petrol mower, it will take you longer to cut the grass. 3. Aldi lawn mower comes with 2 batteries, but single battery slow charger. Be prepared to shuffle the batteries and take your time to charge them. From the initial observations, the not very empty battery takes an hour to charge. Despite a couple seemingly not so good points there were good ones and for me all good points totally justify not only purchasing one, but keeping it.
The good points: 1. When batteries are charged there is no need to “start” the mower. E.g. press the button and go. Cold, hot, humid… Doesn’t matter, it is immediately ready for operation. 2. No petrol or oil needed. Everyone has different circumstances, but I was never thrilled by a need for extra jerrycan that needed to be filled up, handled with care and guarantees will stink things around. No need to buy and add oil either. Awesome. 3. Cost of operation. Not a big deal at all, but my energy provider cut feed in tariff to the point it feels they are stealing my energy from me. As a result, I'm trying to electrify everything around me and be self-sufficient in electricity consumption terms. Not buying petrol, oil and doing mower engine/fuel systems maintenance is another way of saving time and money. 4. As per point above, no maintenance required. 5. No engine noise. Yes, the mower is not completely silent because cutting grass produces noise. But you can cut the grass without thinking too much about how much you disturb your neighbours. 6. It is light. There is not much access between my front and back yards. Carrying a petrol mower was a bit of a chore. I realise, not everyone has the same circumstances. However if you do, the electric mower is light and has a handle to lift it up. 7. Warranty. Maybe I’m wrong, but I don’t remember how many petrol mower brands would warranty their appliance with a 5 year warranty. Not sure if it is because of Aldi’s policy or because there are not that many moving parts in the electric mower that wear, but it appeals a lot to me and serves as a good piece of mind. 8. Price. The price is right. It is on the par with petrol versions or perhaps even cheaper.
Now, after using the mower extensively for a couple of weeks I can time charging batteries in a way that no longer bothers me e.g. one battery a day. The lightness of the mower and ease of operation makes me mow grass more often which helps not to get to the point where it struggles with the long grass. Looks like getting an electric mower yields only advantages in my case. If you don’t have a big yard (bigger than 30m2) or don’t have tough, long grass I highly recommend you consider an Aldi lawn mower next time you need one and it is on sale.
