Think ebike meets push mower – Great lightweight mower if you have a relatively small flat lawn clear of debris and don't mind pushing. This is our first foray into cordless mowers having already purchased other Ozito tools and batteries. It is certainly less expensive than most other cordless alternatives. Light weight makes it easy to transport and store. We have a medium… Read more
size Sir Walter buffalo lawn which we keep at least 1 to 2 inches in length so often find I'm pushing hard to progress through thicker grass which may be 3 plus inches long. The mower is surprisingly torquey, and up for it and the 4Ah battery lasts the distance. Worth having a spare just in case, or rotating areas over different days. The blades are super sharp straight out of the box which means the cutting action is great but easily damaged if you hit a stone which can stop the reel rotating and require a file and re-adjustment. This machine is also allergic to hardwood chip mulch as it will instantly lock up on a chip and require releasing. Difficulty inserting the battery can be a minor annoyance as it requires perfect alignment to slide in it's holder and you often find yourself having to get down low to do that. Due to its light weight it can float over the grass at times so needs downwards pressure to keep it's 'bite'. Height adjustment is a waste of time. It needs to be set at it's lowest to maintain a reasonable length and the handle position is too low for a taller operator. I modified mine so the handle is locked at a higher position and downwards pressure can be maintained. This made the difference between being useful v. useless. Like all reel mowers it will leave some patches and miss grass unless your ground is perfectly flat. Be prepared to criss-cross some areas if not. The catcher is a waste of time as it quickly fills and it is a pain to bend over to release and re-attach. Easier to rake afterwards.
Great for Small Lawns – Context: My lawn size 7.2 x 4 m, buffalo (thick) grass, even surface with fence boundary on 1 side. I've used this for 3 years now. Frequency of use every 2-3 months in autumn/winter and 1-2 months in spring/summer Pros: - Small, compact and light weight, easy to more and store away which doesn't take up to much space - runs on battery, great … Read more
for the environmental conscious people out there - Uses 1 full charge 2.5Ah battery. You will probably need a larger battery or a spare if your lawn area larger than mine. - Easy to use and maintain (I use the ozito blower to clear all the grass off before storing) - A few cutting heights to choose from, I always choose the one where the mower is closest to the ground. This also cuts the thickest parts of the grass and I can mow my entire lawn with a 2.5Ah battery. Sweet.
Cons: - May not be suitable for lawns that contain rocks: the cutting cylinder blade mechanism (see picture) may catch the rocks and becomes stuck and worst, it can dent the sharp blade which can stop it from spinning. This happened to me and I used a metal file to grind down the blade to make it spin normal again. You will not have this problem with a standard mower. - 45L grass catcher is small and requires many rounds of detaching to empty. To detach, unclip the belt and pull out. This method I find quite tedious and inconvenient and could be designed better to make the job easier. I'm young so I don't mind, but my future self will probably not like it. I ended up not using it altogether and leave the grass clippings on the lawn. But, this means that you'll have to mow more often (the clippings acts like a fertiliser and makes the grass grow faster).
Overall: Great for a small lawn, uses up small storage space, easy to use. Recommend.
Perfect for small lawns – Perfect for small lawns.Lightweight does make mowing lawns easy. Easy to manoeuvre around. East to assemble and operate. I am using a 2 mah battery, and it is enough to get my small lawn twice with some juice still left. I surely will recommend this mower. Show details
Perfect for my small flat lawn – Bought this because I have a small flat buffalo lawn and nature strip and didn't want to deal with petrol mowers or extension cords. Works very well for price and purpose. Show details
Good but could be better – I have had this mower a few months now it does the job and I am yet to have any mechanical issues however the over all weight of the mower let’s it down it will generally sit on top and the grass if your grass is thick and does not cut as low as you would expect due to this but overall happy with the mower Show details
Good but need some design/technical upgrades – Bought this as a replacement for a petrol 4 stroke as there are no local petrol stations where I live any more. Simple to use and seems quite strong and can get through quite long grass. Downsides are the light weight which can give patchy mowing results and the catcher which needs to be cleared frequently as it is poorly designed. All things… Read more · 1
considered, seems an acceptable product for the price ($192) and has a 5 year warranty. Good for small to medium lawns and quite reasonable battery time with 4 AH battery.
Perfect little Precision Mower – Went together well. Blades are very sharp and cut very well when properly adjusted against the cutting bar. It's very light weight and easy to use. I have the middle size battery 40Ah , which easily does a 400sq M area. It is not a heavyweight grass cutter for large areas.... It is a precision Cylinder mower to give you a fine lawn that has been… Read more
scissor-cut rather than slashed, if that is what you want. After only 3 mows, adjusting the height down each time, my lawn is looking like a putting green... very pleasing. It will pick up leaves, and small fallen berries, but AVOID stones.... the blades are quite thin, and will bend if you hit something hard. Just need to be carefully bent back to just graze the cutting bar. The catcher is adequate for what it is, but the strap that holds it up is a bit hit & miss... needs more thought. It will also act as a push-mower, so best to pull it backwards over paths, etc, so the blade is not turning. Would suit most suburban lawns, but don't buy it if what you really need is a rotary. This is for making a nice lawn; not for just cutting your grass. At under $200 for the mower without battery, it is great value, although Ozito make you buy their own battery and charger, which can add another 100 - 150 if you don't already have their tools.
It's good but it could-should be better – I give this mower A-3 star rating based on its out of the box performance (which wasn't very good) It all went together okay and was easy to start up and use right away however it wasn't sharpened properly, and this is the second unit I've bought(with the same issue), the centre of the mower did not cut grass at all and the outside was too… Read more
tight, I had to file and then lap the cylinder to have it closer to even cutting and then after that it cut the grass mostly fine (healthy Buffalo) cutting at maximum height (38mm) which is the lowest Buffalo should be cut. The lawn was looking good but after a few weeks i had clumps appear from where the mower would go over rather than cut through the grass as its weight (very light weight) is it's downside, I'm going to add weights to it and see how it goes, but inevitably its weight is it's downside.
It has plenty of guts with a 4ah battery and lasts a good 35 minutes before needing another battery
My mother on the other hand loves how easy it is to use, and it mulches fairly well when used with back passes. Image is the results of this mower from 3 week's worth of weekly mows.
