ALDI Visage Compact Travel Shaver

Issue with waterproofing – I bought this on a discount probably part of clearance. Shaving quality is acceptable for travel, the size and shape is also pretty good. Cleaning the hair out is quick and easy too. Fits comfortably in the hand when using also. It lasted about a week before the on/off button started to become less responsive. Eventually it turned on and stayed running (wouldn't turn off) until the power drained out. I then charged it and it wouldn't turn on.

I didn't wanna stuff around with the return process and I don't really like the idea it'll just be disposed of so I opened it up. It opens best at the bottom, a small non sharp blade let me pop it open without damaging it.

Found water inside of the shaver. I never even used it under the shower, only rinsed it out under the tap with a low flow of water so it's not like it had intense water pressure (I will add it did say it was wet/dry). I let it dry and tried to make sure the circuit traces were clean.

I noticed if I shorted the on/off button with a metal object it would turn on. So I ordered a replacement button online. I took the old one off and soldered the new one on and it worked!

I don't think the original button was faulty from the start though, I think there is issues with water ingress, so I expect this new button to stop working at some point although I've been really careful with it and placed a small bag of silica gel beads to hopefully deal with the water issue and I'll check it every now and then.

It's almost impossible to clean the area where the blades themselves are enclosed. I popped it open and wish I hadn't as I think some of it was glued together or something like that. I don't think it's designed to be opened so the blades fall out whenever I clean it. When it's together it seems to work regardless.

Wouldn't really recommend buying this but I really do hope they improve it as it's close to being really good value.
