You get what you pay for – If all you would like to achieve is 90 degree cuts this will do the job. If you would like to do anything else you are out of luck. Get another machine. Unfortunately there is no manual adjust for setting mitre or angled cuts, with only preselected angles available, all of which are woefully out. I have resorted to a hand saw for any angles which… Read more
renders the machine useless as a mitre saw. Wouldnt have bought it if I had known. Hope this helps save others some heartache
Cheap saw with least accuracy – I have used this saw for D.I.Y. The accuracy of the cuts are very low. The blade came with was terrible. Even though I hv put new Diablo blade it still sometimes struggles to cut hardwood. Changing blade was big job. Would not recommend it to anyone.
Aldi Mitre Saw – This is a gem of a product and cuts with the laser light cuts with precision every time. The only negatives are the stability brackets get in the way and take up valuable space.
Can't expect more from a $180 tool. Highly recommended – I bought this saw last year and have done a huge fencing project with this. I also cut 120 x120 solid poles. After that, I made a solid wood king bed. The saw is still in very good shape. The only painful part is the small sized batteries for the laser guide. Show details
Great for the price – The saw does everything that I have asked from it. It will even cut old hardwood as large as will fit in given a couple of passes. Is as accurate as the price would suggest. Can't fault it other than the laser guide light that should never be turned on. Show details
Good value for money – Used this for building a retaining wall, and it cut acurrately all day long. Purchased spare blades to tge right size off ebay for $20 each. Only problem is the laser guide still works but doesnt cast a visible cutting line. The stand you can purchase is excellent - and i rate this better than the saw. As long as you remember you get what you… Read more
pay for- if you need $1000 performance you will need to buy a $1000 machine.
This unit is as good as the $300 ones from bunnings.
It's ok for the price but replacement blades are not readily available – This saw is well made for the price and works well. However it's proved difficult to replace the blade. Like the other reviewer a 216mm blade with a 30mm arbor does not seem to be made by any of the well known manufacturers. If the Australian importer of these saws stops supplying replacement blades then this saw has a very limited life. Show details
Warranty issues – I purchased this saw just over 12 months ago and had no problems with it until it just stopped working. There was some smoke coming out of the handle so I turned it off. I contacted Aldi as it was still in warranty and they put me onto the manufacturer who said someone will contact me a asap. It has now been 4 weeks since my 1st contact and I have… Read more
contacted them weekly with the same promise that someone will contact me asap. I'm still waiting for this issue to be resolved.
Looks Good, but Cutting accuracy Not Good – I purchased both the Mitre saw plus the stand as well, at the price no complaint, I set it all up and that is where the joy went out of the project, All of the angles of this Mitre Saw were Out of alignment, reset the Fence true to to the Blade, Manually adjust every other angle that the Mitre Saw is capable of. The sliding shaft that locks into… Read more
all of the angle slots is very sloppy. Will have to come up with an idea to modify it to lock in accurately, I have spent days on rectifying these issues. Not to mention the amount of timber wasted to set up within reasonable tolerances $$$$$. I will persevere until I have had enough of it.
Great/Cheap/limited access to spare parts – I bought this as part of an Aldi Special buy, I've only had this saw for a few months, have put it through its paces with varying types of wood (hard wood, Pine, and MDF), it excelled, for $179 it was an awesome buy, I also bought the Sliding Mitre saw stand as well, must have addition to the saw that was $80. My only complaint would be that the… Read more · 1
saw was advertised as being able to cut steel, but the blade supplied is not suitable, they mention an optional steel cutting blade. I must have missed that pile in the store sadly, but as it is a funny size blade, 216mm with a 30mm bore, they are not readily available in Australia. I've been to every specialty tool store in my area, plus a few of the big suppliers, they all scratch their head when I mention the bore size. During my research to try and find out where I can get one of these blades I found that the saw is a rebadged item made by a german company, they have an Australian contact centre (probably for warranty purposes), I have contacted them and waiting a reply re the blade. Either way though, I have priced similar saw's in the bigger brands, this saw is significantly cheaper, sometimes more than five times cheaper, it does the same job, and even if it only lasted a year and self destructed you would still be ahead by going and buying another one on the next special buy sale. As a home handyman this purchase is a no brainer. I've got a lot of cheap generic brand power tools, and some very expensive tools, and they all perform equally as well. My father in law is a builder and even he runs cheaper brands, his theory is if they break he chucks them in the bin and buys another, still comes out ahead. So if this special buy comes up again from Aldi, get one, you won't be disappointed....but look out for that steel cutting blade!
