4 Annette R.  · Aldis laundry detergent I found does an excellent job cleaning my clothes Thumbs up for Aldi’s Laundry Detergent from me
1 Grant Johnstone  · Itching and red bumps all over body from using this product. Should be illegal!
1 Samantha C  · WTAF?! – How is this stuff legal? I’m getting cancer treatment and my already beaten up skin is itching, should the ombudsman be called?
1 Pmfarrel  · Almat Coconut Crush – Has absolutely NO smell/perfume to it! Clothes feel like they've been washed with no detergent!
1 Joe  · Severe allergic reaction – I am not allergic to anything but this. Reading other reviews I have had the same experience. Aldi needs to investigate.

  Laundry Liquid

I concur with prior 'reviewers', I have only just realised ,the 'scent' has deteriorated to a level of 'non existant', or at its best , 'a whiff of a scent'. I am so dissapointed, I just kept using, I 'silly assumed' it was my 'own nose', & my washing machine, so I kept doing a tub clean. I too thought, the 'washing' had been left in machine to… Read more

long, thus giving it an 'unwashed' smell, & rewashed various loads, up until I decided to 'check' the 'concentrate', omg, I am so, vexxed, but not surprised, these days. I feel 'companys', 'hoodwink' us, bit by bit, & this has absolutley, shown, by 'reducing/ changing smell', of an absolutly great product, I even gave away all of my 'old almat powder', as it was not 'dissolving' as it once used to, & changed to liquid, I now wonder, was 'more fillers' added, thus why it did not dissolve as it once did. Aldi, GO BACK to original wonderful product, where the perfume lingered, this is how good it was, I washed a winter blanket, last yr 2025, & placed in 'vacuum bag', I got it out other day & omg, the perfume is still on it, such a difference. I would rather pay extra to have the lovely smell back again, if they have changed supplier, or not ,sorry ,I and I daresay so many others will have to 'rethink' our laundry concentrate, come on aldi, dont let us down, please.

As below, just used the new unexpected Clear liquid and is scentless and doesnt leave a good smell on clothes and smells like they need rewashing, so returned for a Full refund and will have to look at Woolworths/Coles etc. The White cloudy liquid we used for many years and was good. Show details

Formula changed & getting a refund tommorrow. They never changed the packaging which doesn't say anything about a new formula. Very deceptive as it still says "Enchanting Fragrance" on the label. New clear liquid is total rubbish. Clothes just wet, not washed, ZERO FRAGRANCE. So disappointed, this product used to be awesome & the fragrance & clean… Read more

was awesome. Consumers understand shrinkflation & the price of everything going up. Why didn't they just increase the price instead of ruining an awesome product. BAD DECISION!

Aldi Almat laundry concentrate POWDER (not the liquid ) - Used in new (2025) front loader. We found this laundry detergent to do a good job and, for the price, is very good value. One (only) negative is that the powder left a thick, undissolved crust in the detergent hopper. Only 3/4 of the powder would make it's way into the drum to clean the… Read more

clothes. Funnily enough, this crust survived the rinse fill cycle as well however it didn't seem to affect the rinse cycle. Fortunately, being a powder, this issue is easily overcome by simply placing the powder in the drum with the clothes at the start of the cycle. (Not advisable to do this liquid detergents though). A very minor issue - The box states a scoop is included but ours was missing. Not a problem for us because we have many scoops left over from previous boxes. (might be environmental sound to state "With scoop" or Without scoop" on the box and let the customer decide which they need.) Personally, I'd recommend this product.

All "Choice Reviews" are now worthless. Aldi has done a shifty on all its customers and changed their laundry liquid. It's a different product all together with no scent. My email asking for a response. All "Choice Reviews" are now worthless. Laundry liquid not listed as "new formula", why not? It used to be cloudy in colour, now it is clear… Read more

and without scent. People would rather pay more to receive the same product, you have served up the Coles $2 laundry liquid thinking none of us would know. There's a deception here to fool your customers. Maybe your supplier has deceived you? I have 2 x 2 litre products here, 1 x is great (original), the other has no sent and will be returned to store for a credit. What have you done here?

Hive breakout – Unfortunately I've had horrible hive breakout all over my body. My parents used this at their house. Apparently it's very common with this washing powder.

  Laundry Liquid

Liquid is very good powder not so good – I have used the Almat liquid for 12 years and at $10 for 4L it really is great value. The formula has changed recently and is now a much thinner consistency than it used to be ,it is almost watery. They have diluted the concentration to keep the price from rising I assume. The cap also doubled in size compared to the older thicker consistency.… Read more

They really must think we are silly. This month I thought I would give the Almat powder another go. Terrible decision as it's even worse so I'll be switching back to the liquid. I just can't justify paying $30 or $40 to $50 on Omo, Radiant or Dynamo so the liquid does the job as it gets most thing's clean first time and I don't pre treat anything unless I really think it needs it. I always wash with cold water because a front loader cleans very well without heat so it would probably wash even better if I used a 60° hot wash with a stain remover beforehand but with two young boys that are constantly in the dirt and mud in white socks their clothes wash up very very well this way.

Good value midrange washing powder – I'd been using Almat liquid detergents for years and about half a year ago a relative overloaded their washing machine so I had to take the machine to an appliance mechanic. The mechanic recommended pre-dissolving powdered detergent in hot water before adding the detergent to the machine's detergent draw instead of using liquid detergents. The… Read more

mechanic said buying liquid detergent is basically paying a premium for detergent with added water and fragrance so you don't have to dilute the detergent down yourself for an optimised clean. The fragrance can mask how clean laundry is, if you've left clean laundry in a dry location for a few months and find it reeks later it may be the laundry wasn't clean at all and once the fragrance from detergent wore off you can smell just how dirty the laundry is!

I decided to experiment with a few different detergents so I picked up 10KG of Almat Laundry Powder Concentrate Soft Sensations and I was surprised just how much better the clean is vs the liquid equivalent. I can't recall the exact price but it was $20-something.

In high efficiency front loading LG WD13020D1 and WV5-1408W washing machines I use at most half the recommended dose of detergent as using the recommended amount of detergent I suspect results in detergent residue being left in the laundry after cycle completion on shorter cycles with one or few rinses.

I've been premixing half the recommended amount of detergent with 1 cup hot water in a jug, mixing with a spoon then adding the dissolved detergent and water mixture to the washing machine.

The powder leaves little if any fragrance in washing vs the equivalent Almat liquid products but the actual clean is better, some soiling that was not lifted by the liquid was lifted by the powder.

I gave some Almat Powder and Trimat Powder to a relative with young children and she also achieved better results with 50% of the recommended dose for both compared to Almat liquid. She said Trimat was better than anything else she'd tried so once her current liquid detergent runs out she was going to buy and stick with Trimat powder in future .

I will be sticking with Almat powder pre-dissolving it before adding it to my machines and use the more expensive Trimat powder for heavily soiled loads.

Itchiness and allergic reaction – Wow... I was randomly browsing product reviews to see if Costco Fab rated better than Aldi almat/trimat. Then I saw the reviews about itchiness. 6 months ago, I figured I didn't need the fancy more expensive trimat, and switched to almat. For the past few weeks I have had itchiness like as if one didn't rinse the chlorine off in an highly… Read more

chlorinated pool. For months, I have occasionally been getting red welts going up my neck.

I didn't suspect the laundry detergent as I have happily used trimat for a decade. I have never had a reaction to laundry detergent ever, including that green bottle at Aldi for like $1.

Upon visiting the Trimat reviews, same complaints, and a few people saying Aldi changed the formulation. I was thinking of going back to Trimat, but with the same complaints on Trimat, my trust has evaporated. My reaction has been to Almat, but this, very reasonably, has me scared of Trimat too, now.

Love Aldi, and never had a complaint. But this laundry detergent is horrendous. I have suffered for months due to this stuff, and had no idea what was causing this.

Thank you so much to the other reviewers. You have literally saved me months / years of discomfort and breakouts. Aldi, get this stuff off the market, please.

I will still shop at your store, but never again will I trust your laundry detergent.

You are literally harming people, by allowing this stuff to stay on the market. Something is seriously wrong. I also had never previously reacted to a laundry detergent. I am lucky I found these reviews by chance, identifying the itchiness and welts, which I also have had for months, without knowing the cause. Get this dangerous stuff off the market, please.

You are going to end up with a class action lawsuit, if you don't take action. I am not litigious, and am just happy to have my life back. But this is not fair. Get this off the market, now, please.

Edit: Aldi's Trimat was the top performing, affordable detergent on choice.com.au. Will be switching to Costco Kirkland detergent. Choice did not review. But web reviews for Kirkland detergent are high, and it almost certainly won't give me itchiness and hives...

Coles detergent was also a decent performing bargain on choice, but I'm not adding a 4th grocery store (Coles) just for detergent. Kirkland's it is. Ty Costco

Aldi... fix your product. You are literally hurting people.

Best washing liquid I’ve ever used don’t understand the negative reviews it’s got. I have a front loader and this liquid has outshine them all, mind you some of the fragrances are over powering so I stick to the floral, plus I use half recommended measure I’m completely sold on it Show details

I have used the Almat 4 L Tropical Escape for years and use it for washing all my clothes, mostly in a quick wash cycle. Not only is the price a winner for me but the clothes come out clean and they smell beautifully. Haven't used Fabric softeners for over a year. I definitely give it a 5 Star rating. Show details

Aldi wins again – This laundry liquid is top notch it leaves the expensive brands in its wake, for a third of the price, it removes stains very very well and for really stubborn ones a little in a bucket overnight does the trick. I’ll never go back to the big brands again Show details

Aldi Almat laundry powder doesn't dissolve – I bought a package of Aldi Almat laundry powder because it was cheaper than any other brand of laundry powder. I have been suffering for the wrong reason – I read that Almat Laundry liquid was one of the best for cleaning clothes though little is said about how, if you have sensitive skin, your body can flare up from head to toe with this uncomfortable rash. It is the only thing that saved me from further pain and total body irritation. It's the last you'll see of me Aldi. I will keep well away from any of your stores in future.
