Unreliable camera – The AOSU wifi solar panel security camera review from our experience. We had some vandalisms and needed the reliable security cameras. Watched YouTube video and read some good reviews so we have purchased 2 cameras from Amazon and have installed by trade person just one of them to see if it is good enough. A friend from overseas stayed at the back room so that helped to watch back entrance.

In the beginning we had a little mixed results also we were still learning to use app/setting so we needed to leave it for a while and see if the camera is capable to catch the trespassers and offenders.

And we have had a numbers of bad incidents in rows but unfortunately none of them were captured.

We have contacted AOSU support and they were very helpful. We did help us adjust some of the app settings back and forth, toggled n if that makes better but no, it didn’t make much difference, more the same.

The wifi signal was strong and the storage hub sit only inside the door 2 m from the camera. We have missed recording some serious incidents again later and we couldn’t provide the evidence video to the police. By the time caught up with these dramas and juggling the busy family life and work the Amazon’s 30days money back has been expired.

At this stage we were so over with this unreliable toy security camera. So we started to research wired one. It was our fault we couldn’t return these toy cameras but then AOSU sent us the wired camera knowing that we are having a bad experience from their camera. The kind gesture from AOSU. But they have sent us only one camera. Currently one of our friend is in charge at home since we are away but it sounds like the camera has been retired already and it is no longer functional anymore. It didn’t last one year. She said suddenly it stopped working. We suggested to restart the hub but the app is no longer working. We need to organise trade person to come check this camera soon.

So we have purchased 2 AOSU solar panel cameras from Amazon that didn’t work well and ended up with one tiny wired camera. We feel bit ripped off. Not happy.

The comments from our experience …

1. The AOSU wifi security camera’s solar panel has a less power. And it ALWAYS long record DELAY. ( it’s most of time way too slow and it will miss the whole event completely) Do not buy this camera if you would like to record the event immediately.

2. @AOSU app’s human only does not work always. We’ve noticed missed quite some occasions. Eg. It didn’t record when visitors arrived and they walked right in front of the camera :(

3. Capturing the roaming dog and wild animal movements, and the small children’s are not reliable. (We have tried both on and off humans only setting)

4. If you do have a plant or tree in the camera vision it will captures every single leaves movement by wind under the human only setting off (but somehow manage to miss the actual important events ..why? )

5. Because the human only does not capture dog, wild animal and small child’s well you will tend to leave the human only setting off. It means you will capture everything ( WITH DELAYED)This creates zillion’s of the videos of the tree n leaves movement or flying bird etc so you need to isolate the capturing area. You can do this in the app. But in our case it is almost impossible to remove all trees and bush the way our front yard set up. The app hasn’t got the capability to isolate the few separates area. It have to be only one focused area. It’s useful but didn’t work for us. So if you are living in the concrete apartment and no movement might be ok. As long as you do not expect catching any action immediately or do expect missing the event in some occasions.

Last words: We say this is a toy camera for people who would like to see your kids n dogs playing at the backyard while you cook in the kitchen. You can talk to them from kitchen. A good fun toy monitor camera.

But definitely not the reliable security camera. It will be long DELAY recording every single event and sometimes miss the whole event.
