Good quality, strong and reliable mower – Great zero turn mower, solid cutting deck and build quality. The Kawasaki engine is strong and reliable, starts first go every time. It also really comfortable. I like it a lot hence my 5 stars. I just need some grippier tyres when the ground is damp. Show details

My new Maserati – Bill from QLD Australia. Done know what the problem is with people and the Zoom XL 48. Then I got a Ariens Zoom XL 48, Ha my new Maserati, mate creamed it, If you have a problem with this zero turn mower then you should have a go… Read more

Terrible!! – When you buy a product and your product has no issues that fine, however when I bought my mower I had trouble with it for a full 1 year before I sold it for peanuts just to get rid of the machine. For me the electric clutch kept breaking the stay, and this in return made the wires all rip that connected the clutch to the power source. To make… Read more

things worse Ariens would not do anything about it to fix it, every-time I contacted someone they just said it was my fault (someone who has owned ride-ons my whole life and know how to use them properly). I simply cannot recommend this product as it is by far the worst mower I have owned.

Waste of money – From the day my Ariens XL Zoom 48 arrived it was a disappointment . Problem #1. At the first turn of the key the problems began. The starter stumbled like that of an old car. The starter had a dead spot. 3 turns of the key later I got it going. Not a good sign...if only I had returned it then. Problem #2: As I drove down the driveway I… Read more

noticed the steering was uneven. With the handles at the same position it veered right. I cut my 2 acres anyway. Veering right the entire time.

Problem #3: The cut was terrible. My old push LawnBoy cut the grass better. It's almost as if the blades were dull. Cutting some, tearing some and pushing the rest over. I called my dealer to no avail. He advised calling Ariens. After being hung up on twice, I finally got a rep who said "try two passes for a better cut" & "read the manual " to fix your steering. I never even asked about the starter, I was too shocked by her response.

Days passed and it was time to cut my 2 acres again. I'm about 1/2 way through & the mower dies on a hill. It has gas; it came with a full tank from the dealer. I crank and crank...nothing. I call the dealer and he comes to pick up the machine. Two days later I call and he tells me there was a fuel line block. Really? I ask about the starter and he tells me that's how they are. Really? I ask about the poor cut and he suggests getting a "stripping kit". Thanks a lot for nothing!

I get the machine back and double cut the lawn for the rest of the summer. Now I'm cutting 4 acres, oh joy! I adjust to the dead spot in the starter and just hold the handles askew to get it going straight.

I buy the bagger and get it installed. It works perfectly. Fall cleanup has never been easier. It's a monster vacuum.

Season #2: I get the mower serviced from the same dealer in preparation for the season. I have no choice, as it's the only dealer around. Still no remedy for the steering or starter. The mower comes back to me with the meter flashing "change oil." Didn't I just have that done? I check the oil and it reads clean. The dealer "forgot" to reset it. I wonder what else he "forgot".

First cut of season two, the great vacuum the bagger had last year is gone. It leaves clippings all over the lawn. Now it takes three passes to cut and clean the lawn. Now I'm cutting 6 acres. More joy.

I'm done with this machine. I'm going to see if the dealer will buy it back. I'm sure it will be at 40 cents on the dollar.

So, in closing, if you want to waste $4700 on a zero turn, buy the XL Zoom 48 by Ariens. Even their customer service is bottom of the barrel. I will repost this everywhere I possibly can. Hope this helps you decide to buy a Bobcat or a Scag like I should have in the first place.

Ariens Zoom 1740 – Fantastic mower. Once you have used one of these you wont go back to anything else. We have a caravan park and it gets used a lot without any problems, except finding the right size belt for the cutting deck, apart from that i would not hesitate in recommending them to anyone. great motor (KOHLER) comfort, ease of use, reliability, and the best thing is the maneuverability. Cant think of anything.

My wife loves it! – Purchased this machine a while back and done lots of work with it with no dramas. It is well worth the money spent to get a machine that is well designed and thought out. Gives a nice cut, drives smooth and comfortable and takes on anything you throw at it. The dealer in the southern highlands NSW was very helpful and honest which you do not… Read more ·  1

Brilliant! – I use to have a Husqvarna then traded in for a Dixon zero turn which I hated and had nothing but problems. I since purchased my new Ariens Zoom XL 48 with the fully fabricated deck. The cut is not like any other, has a very nice cut and I cut my mowing time down by half it usually took 6 hours to mow my 4 acres around the house and driveways on… Read more ·  1

my farm and now only takes 3 hours. It is so comfortable and very repsonsive and smooth unlike some others that i tried the way it drives is superb, the 24hp Kawasaki motor is quiet and smooth I wish I would have purchasd one of these first, it kicks ass over the others. I love my new Ariens Zoom XL 48 it is excellent. Kawasaki engine, triple blades cut like butter even in wet grass, ability to get a suspension seat and drives very smooth and responsive, ground speed is great. Should be more dealers across Australia

Top Unit – Excellent ride and performance. I purchased this Machine for my landscape/lawn mowing business and i must say after much procrastinating over this brand and all the others that are out there on the market I went for the Ariens for the fabricated deck, warranty and the quality and workmanship that went into this machine. It has performed well has… Read more

I live on it – I look for an excuse to mow the lawn on this thing, I use my rover for around the house but use this for the larger areas and on our property. Love it. Everything gives a really nice neat cut and reliable Kawasaki engine Nothing except not enough mentioned on these machines in the media.
