Arlo Go

I have two Arlo Go Cameras and neither of them work – I bought both cameras at different times through Vodafone. For a short while they worked ok but it wasn't long before they became unreliable, one might work for a bit while the other wouldn't and vice versa but they rarely both worked. Gradually they became so unreliable that neither worked any more and so I have £600+ worth of paperweights. I wouldn't advise anyone to buy any Arlo products they really are crap ! Show details
Less than Junk – The primary function of this security camera is to capture images. Arlo cannot be used at night and during the day. There is no setting to allow the exposure to automatically adjust and hence a setting for day exposure will render the camera useless at night and vice versa. The app is clunky and that same exposure setting cant be adjusted on the… Read more
app. So even if I do get a motion sensor to go off at night, I cant see the image and can't adjust the contrast from the app because the function of the slider is not working.
Two function authentication on the computer is also cumbersome and ineffective. Why can't Arlo develop a trusted device function for the browser.
UPDATE!!! after 3 months it has just stopped working. sim card has plenty of data and works on other devices. Device won't connect to the internet, No internet no connection.. Device won't work on Wifi, usb or any other method to connect. method to reset to factory settings doesn't work. Poor quality product
Battery goes flat in less than a week. Randomly giving charging errors – Purchased less than 4 months ago. Started to have charging issues in the last 3 weeks. Shows random errors on-screen complaining that the cord supplied with it is the incorrect charging cable. Then randomly refuses to charge. Now the battery will not even last a week. Cheap Chinese made rubbish sold at a premium price. Not worth the hassle. Avoid. Show details
Waste of _ Time and Money – Arlo Go sounded the ideal solution to monitor the door of an elderly relative who lived interstate and was feeling insecure. In a Telstra 4G four bar location, the camera would not connect. Telstra helped to establish the SIM worked. Hours were spent on telephone to Arlo Support. Once what appeared to be the agent's templated "assistance" was… Read more
exhausted, no further offer of technical assistance or product replacement or refund was forthcoming. A request to the retailer for redress received no response. Were it not that the relative has since been diagnosed with a terminal illness, I would have pursued both companies through the legal processes they deserve. Over $600 (with necessary accessories) and many hours wasted. Avoid like the plague!
Arlo GO is a worthless, useless & expensive Netgear failure! – We purchased the Arlo Go camera plus an Arlo Solar Panel charger 13 months ago for our rural property which has 5 Bar 4G coverage. From Day 1 there were problems! Once installed, the battery was dying after just 4 days (the '2 months' claimed by Netgear & Arlo was established to be totally false and later removed) & the Arlo Solar Panel wasn't… Read more
working at all & later established it was dead on arrival.
Arlo replaced both the faulty Solar panel & the Go's "faulty" battery & after hundreds upon hundreds of kilometres driving back & forth, we had to abandon any hope of ever using the Arlo GO for the purpose for which it was purchased because even with the Arlo Solar Panel working and the new battery, the best we could get was under a week before we had to drive out, bring it home & recharge for several hours, then drive back out & repeat over & over every week!
Since then, the Arlo Go costs me $10 a month for the SIM Card (on a 24 month contract) while it sits in a box in our garage, the charging port on the back of the Arlo GO is now faulty & rarely ever works after being used in the rain once!
To add insult to injury, Netgear has now totally disowned their Arlo mistake entirely & the free Arlo App/software has now been deliberately sabotaged & no longer works as it did UNLESS you now pay Arlo a minimum AU$180 a year for its Arlo Smart Subscription service.
Do not waste 1 cent on this garbage!
Useless and expensive – Can't continually or motion detection record unless you subscribe and pay a monthly fee for your own footage which is absolutely disgusting marketing. This company makes me sick for their money grabbing tactics which renders our $600 camera useless to us. The audio and video isn't very impressive either. Can't zoom in without losing resolution.… Read more
Goes into night mode still with medium light. Also hangs up on armed mode. I really really hate it. My $38 Ebay camera blows it out of the water optics and functionality. Overpriced junk with contract entrapment,
July 7th 2019 Update: Extremely limited functions given it's price
Only records on to sd card when in armed mode. So you can't get 24/7 recording period. Only records small 10 sec vids when motion detected, no other options available. We bought this to monitor our elderly mother, and it has monumentally let us down. Arlo are focused on ongoing contract monitoring, not value for money. For a standalone camera, it's a brick.
Piece of junk – I bought an Arlo Go security camera with a solar panel charger for a building site. Works off a sim card and the solar panel charger. Concept is great but Netgear have a tweak in the software to not accept any charger not genuine, but it doesn't recognise its own solar charger. The battery wont charge past 30 % even with a wall charger. Netgear… Read more
support is a joke, when it became too difficult to troubleshoot they stopped communication with me. I have since returned it for a full refund to Officeworks.
