I’ve had this chlorinator for a little over 2 years and the cell is already dead. Terrible quality, only lasts long enough for the warranty to run out. Show details

Only a few months old and doesn't even turn the pump on, so it is pretty much useless. The chlorinator says it is running but the pump isn't running. And look at the warranty conditions, they pretty much have a clause to get out of fixing it, and… Read more

getting you to pay for the call out fee for the agent. What a joke, I brought this product thinking it was an Australian Company, I can see by their get out of warranty clauses I will no doubt be headed to consumer affairs. As for the self cleaning cell, what a crock, we have cleaned that as well. Another annoying thing about this product is it requires more salt than alternative products... Grr very disappointing thought I was getting a quality product.

Follow-up  · I have had to clean it once, despite the fact it is a no clean salt chlorinator. My salt level was perfect, the pump I am using is a 1.5 Pentarra which was new at the same time as chlorinator. I have had the chlorinator repaired under warranty it is now working, after they changed a part. It seems like they knew what the problem is, as the part was sent before they got the chlorinator.

Failed just out of warranty thousands wasted – Unit replaced previous chlorinator that had lasted over 10 years - upsold by Poolwerx into an Astral Chlorinator that had Ph and ORP sensing - at a cost of 3725 dollars. Unit had a 3 year warranty - after 3.5 years service screen on main unit went dim and buttons near impossible to press - the unit stopped feeding acid and was not producing… Read more

enough chlorine. I called for servicing and the main controller circuit board had failed - the quote to repair the unit was more than the cost of the unit. Poolwerx supplier apologised and said there was nothing that could be done other than not recommending another astral unit - he stated it was a common occurrence. Now spending another $3000 on another brand that’s hopefully fit for purpose.

Stay away from the AustralPool Chlorinator – Had my unit for 5 years and broke down right after the warrant period ended. The system I had before lasted over 15 years and still operating well, but thought an upgrade would be better. Went for the fancier more expensive Austral E35 and now I need another unit 5 years later. Called support and the lady was rude and blunt. Definitely will not be buying Austral pool products in future and recommend others don’t either. Show details

Affordable and chlorinates the pool effectively – The E series Chlorinator range both E25 & E35 use the same main PC board as the premium grade ultra reliable VX Chlorinator. The Astral pool / Hurlcon VX Chlorinator has been in production since 2004. The different is the display PCB. The E25 Chlorinator has a smaller salt cell and is designed for the budget minded consumer. They are affordable… Read more

and reliable. Lasting 3-5 years before requiring servicing. Most E Series Chlorinators will last 12-15 years if serviced. Repairable faults can present as low salt, no flow, pump won’t start, no power, faded screen, timer not working. Aquamech Service Brisbane repairs all brands of chlorinators and can upgrade the E25 model to a E35 model affordably. All repairs come with 12 months warranty.

So much for caring for the environment and the customer always looses – Astral Pool E25 chlorinator for my 30,000 litre swimming pool. For those less familiar with the product, a swimming pool chlorinator is a device that produces the chlorine to sanitize the pool, from an electrolytic reaction with salt added directly to the pool. There are 2 main parts to the chlorinator: the controller (a box with some electronics… Read more

and other bits inside) and the cell, where the reaction occurs. The controller is expected to last indefinitely, like any similar device. The cell is a consumable, as the chemical environment in it is pretty harsh, and has a useful life of about 5 years. The cell costs about $400 (the branded one), or about $250 for an aftermarket one. The whole chlorinator (Astral Pool E25 controller and cell) costs about $1,300. After roughly 5.5 years of service, both the controller and the cell failed. The problem with the controller was the electronic circuit board. The Astral Pool representative in the pool shop quoted a new circuit board for $780???. He then proceeded to say that he would sell me a brand new chlorinator at the discounted price of $1,250, which would be cheaper than buying the board and cell. The poor man looked truly embarrassed proposing the deal. When I showed my disbelief, he just said: "they don't want you to buy a circuit board. They want you to buy the whole thing…" How did I resolve the problem? Simple, I do not have a chlorinator any more. I add a chlorine tablet to the pool every 10/14 days in Summer/Winter. $50 for 16 tablets, which will last about a year. But, the whole of the rubbish Astral Pool chlorinator went to landfill, as per the manufacturer's strategy.
