AstralPool Viron eQuilibrium Salt Chlorinator Series Questions & Answers
VerifiedHi, on return from holiday, found the EQ25 screen has turned off. Anyway to reboot Derrick
No reset or reboot, more than likely motherboard failed like mine, screen just went dead and was told both motherboards died.
Hi everyone i have a viron eq25 no power or led on the panel there is power to the unit any thoughts cheers
My house is tenanted and I am not sure if the Viron EQ chlorinator is EQ25, 35 or 45 - how can I find out? Tenants pool guy can't remember and is not very responsive
There is a serial number sticker under the Chlorinator that gives you the model, serial nbr etc. Hope that helps.
Hi CMEH,
There should be a sticker on the chlorinator power pack at the bottom that should state the model.
Kind regards AstralPool Australia
Hi, Sorry - reposting in correct section! I accidentally posted under Viron - not Viron EQ
My Astral Viron EQ25 cell has worn out after 5years. I need to replace, but as I have found that the EQ25 had to run at full power all the time and sometimes struggled to keep up the chlorine, I would like to replace my cell with the larger EQ35 cell. Does anyone know if this will be OK and if so, are there any settings I need to change in my chlorinator control box? I can't access the settings that elate to my pool size or cell size in the menu on the chlorinator box. Is there a secret menu that I have to access? I have no probes installed and I disabled the acid dosing after I had problems with it. So the unit is just chlorinating on the timer. I tried contacting Astral but got no response. Thanks for any help.
buy the EQ35 cell fits in the EQ25 housing, on the chlorinator, hold the middle button then do up down up up fast, you should get the installers menu where you can tell the chlorinator its a larger cell
Please help - I am having an issue with the EQ controller. It is set to run on AI mode for 8hrs each day starting at 9am. However recently I have noticed that is it not turning off and remains on, regardless of what "pool mode" I use eg. Manual on or off.
I have tried turning off the power supply, removing the cables from pump to Eq and also turning off at main switch hoping it resets but is no working. Is this a common issue and any idea what needs to be replaced?
Hi Rog, This could indicate a potential issue with the User PCB but would need a technician to assess and confirm. If your unit is still under warranty please lodge a warranty claim with us at external link so we can investigate further and possibly organise for a technician to attend and repair it.
If it is out of warranty you can still contact us to discuss(1300 763 021, Option 3) but you would most likely need a local pool technician to attend and determine the exact fault.
Kind Regards, Astralpool Australia

Hi I have an astral eq chlorinator still in warranty fluidra have been out twice and replaced the cell it is calcifying the cell in 2 hours chemical balance is in spec but is only calcifying 1/2 the cell on each side now if I swap the red wires it calcifies the other 1/2 sides. It has 14v on both red wires at level 5 and swaps to positive on the green when cleaning it’s not producing chlorine like it was. Fluidra are impossible to deal with. Does anyone have any idea?

Hi speaking with customer service is a waste of time. Erin Hutchins didn’t bother to read all of my responses on the portal and closed my 3rd call-out request which I waited close to a month. Liam Latham and Francoise beya don’t respond to my emails even your rep didn’t return my call. I logged with fair trading on the 20th of December hopefully you receive it soon and then we can resolve it I encourage everybody to do the same.
My ph levels don't seem to be dropping. Not sure if there is an issue with the acid dose? Anyone had the same issue? It works fine for a while then will go for days with PH levels higher then the pre set level
This summer I find the same problem

What to check if acid dosing does not reduce ph
Hi, My unit keeps resetting clock back to 00:00, hence not running at desired times. Is there a backup battery in the unit? Somebody has asked the same question but there is no answer still. Thanks.
Got the same problem if power turned off and restarted more than a minute later. I simply reset the clock to current time or if running system with an automated wifi switch remotely I set it to start from 00:00 (midnight)
I have the same problem - was there any answer provided or has a solution been posted? Overnight my clock regularly changes to non daylight saving time + 13 hours
I just purchased and received a brand new EQ25. After installing the new chlorinator same setup as my previous chlorinator l get an error message "REVERSING SMPS CHLORINATOR VERSION 5.9" I have tried to power down then power back up as it will not let me make any changes when l press the Maint or Pool Mode buttons. I cannot even change the clock any help would be greatly appreciated.
Need an answer to this question ..it's been asked before

I am getting an error 'No Water' I press info and it says check water flow to the chlorinator. There is water flowing across the cells. I have reset and adjusted the ORP and i stll get the error. Not sure why

The water sensor is located at the cell. Look for the smaller cable, typically blue, and ensure it's securely connected without any oxidation.
I’ve got a “No Water” fault showing. Chlorinator will run for a while then switch itself off (safety mechanism) yet I have plenty of pressure and flow through the cell. Debris baskets all empty. Anyone?
Hi David, Check the output lead connections to the cell are securely connected. Open the cell to output lead terminals a small bit 1-2mm max with a fine craft knife. This will ensure a tight connection to the output lead terminals. If this doesn’t fix the problem we can repair this for you. Bit of a strange one, but the plastic threaded ring that secures my ORP sensor into the housing has cracked (the sensor is about 7 years old; I first noticed the failure after the first few cold nights of the year). The crack has meant that there is a small leakage of water/air from the housing. The sensor works fine, but I can see no way of removing and replacing the ring itself as it seems to be integral to the design. I am loath to spend $400 on replacing the sensor for a $0.20 bit of plastic. Any ideas out there? Cheers

How do I refill the acid container . I have been told it should be filled with 50%water and 50% acid is that correct
Never heard of that before. Just buy a new acid and trade in your old empty container. If you are unsure ask at your local pool shop.
I do that 50/50. Flows easier and less corrosive - supposed to be easier on the equipment. Who knows?!
On my company we do 1/3 acid, 2/3 watter using 15L drum ( 5L acid, 10L water ) that is to prevent the acid damage the orings on the pipe line, and inprove the life time of the squeeze tube. By the way, I specialize in repairing Astral Eq series and others chlorinators with clock issues and relay replacements. Feel free to ask if you need help with yours! chlorinator.repair@gmail.com
Out of interest does the astral eq series Chlorinators have a battery (backup) that is replaceable or is it soldered onto the board?
Hi Victor, Yes it has a super capacitor soldered into the main pc board. It is replaceable. There is also a position available on the display / user pcb for another super capacitor. Adding this as well as replacing the main super cap is the best way of overcoming battery backup issues. Our business Aquamech Services in Dutton Park, Brisbane can service and replace them for you. Give us a call on 30677956. Kind Regards, Luke Harper Electrical Technician Aquamech Services Pty Ltd
Hi Luke, I also have a Viron eQuilibrium chlorinator whose clock has stopped working after a number of power outages. Your post above suggested replacing the "super capacitor" on the main PCB. By Super Capacitor do you mean the largest capacitor on the board which is in the top left corner of the board in the image available from the link below:

My EQ 35 says pH too low. Chemical testing says it’s 8. I have cleaned and attempted to recalibrate the probe and it says Fault/ Error 19 . Does anyone know what this means?
Hi Meg, Possibly requires a replacement probe or it could be the main pcb. We can test it for you. Before forking out on buying a new one. We require the power supply, probe and cell to make an accurate diagnosis. We charge $39 for this inspection and quote but this cost comes of the repair costs. Our business Aquamech Services repairs all brands of saltwater chlorinators. We’re in Brisbane. Located at 15 Pound street, Dutton Park. Open 8-5 Monday through Friday. P. 30677956.
